Why is my battery not good enough? - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Heya!
Well.. I'm using KA10.2 ROM and XSX 3.5 kernel. I always close apps, on low brightness, no Bravia engine on, no OC w/hotplug, undervolted, min CPU on 86Mhz, but I am on 3G network.
I use to travel a lot, and just from reading news, hearing music, texting and reading a bit of XDA news my battery can be finished in 2-3 houers.
I can't understand it. I'm doing my best to try and make it last longer but it is draining faster than everyone here in XDA.
How could I go wrong?
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app

does the screen always on in those 2-3 hours? if yes, then it's normal..
but if it's not..u should remove com.sonyericson.android.wakeup (use titanium backup, it's safer and easier (make backup first))
i have some kind of usage like u (always on 3G) without removing: 6-8 hours, screen time almost 3 hours), with removing: 14-16 hours, screen time 3-4 hours. pretty good, i guess..

[Q] battery life

I'm very concern with my battery performance due to i've read there are people that the battery reach more than 1-2 days, it's true? because my battery only reach 15 hours with a regular operation.
Same mate, depends on what you call normal usage tho, and what you got on the phone. If i dont use it for anything but txts it will last 2 days, otherwise no chance. Use atk pro and kill all non essentials at screen off and cpu master set to powersave to give you bout 25% longer run time.

The rom Im using is rendeiro Cyanogen 6.1.3 V1, camera fix.
When I said that my operation with the phone is normal, because it is. Let see.
20 minutes on voice.
Email sync always on
Xda app many times at day
30 minutes in the web
Twitter sync each 30 minutes
2 or 3 facebook uses at day
And watch a few small videos
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I do everything u do except for the facebook sync and twitter sync. Thats probably doing that to ur battery. My battery last probaby for two days but i drain it every night to really low then charge it over night. Try turning off facebook and twitter sync and see what happens for a day
Sent from XDA Premium from my X10a rooted running 2.2.1 Cyanogen 6.1.3gingerbreadV1 ROM
I charge every night, but while in tours, I make sure, I keep my data traffic / wifi / GPS turned off while phone is on standby to extend the battery life.. That helps to push it on for around 2 days at max..
While in roaming, the Network signal strengths also eats a lot of battery, some one told me to use 2G network only, dont know how effective is that..
My phone goes for about one day but i am a heavy user. Youtube browsing using messneger on phone , texting with girlfriwnd . etc i dont mind though ots plugged in each time i go to bed. So when i wake up i have a fully charged phone again to repeat my daily usage

whats your battery life??

post your average battery life...i want some tips from the ones who have best battery lifes..
to get the best juice out of ur o1..
use devoif froyo-final..
i got about 3 and a half battery..
3 and a half days ?? are you kidding??
My battery only lasts maybe up to 12 hours... if I'm lucky
Tried removing widgets, using a batter saver... tried charging the battery, deleting the battery stats file, discharging it recharging it... shortened display on time, turned down volumes
I don't know what's up? I've tried wiping and reinstalling ROM's... I don't even use it as much as I'd like because of the battery life
Optimus V (VM670)
AOSPmod 20110601
16gb sdcard w/1gb ext4 partition
Don't use battery savers, they increase it drain...
Mine on devoid froyo only lasts one day..tried wiping battery stats many times..but same result..
Mine is on devoid.final with franco.kernel v16.1, and I get about one and a half day of battery on average use. I play at times, send quite a number of texts and make a call once or twice a day. I developed the habit of bringing my USB cable to charge my phone at work now. :/
my phone doesnt last even for about 18 hours if i am using it on average basis by which i mean 1 hour gaming...2 hours of time pass by simply changing settings and all...but i do text quite often and have around 100 apps installed on my phone...will it help if i keep only which are necessary and use titanium backup for others which i only use once in a while.....
my last hopes are on froyo final and the above mentioned solution...i am going to try it soon...
In my experience most of the battery takes 3G mode, especially when active HSDPA. If I am using only 2G mode phone can withstand more than 2 days, which is a good result, but in the 3G just 1,5 day. Remember that at the time did not use the Internet to disable the Internet connection, it should help you.
20-24 hours.
I'm using nessy right now and getting the best battery.
I call a lot so this is the right rom for me after around two to three hours of talk I'm still left with some juice. Turn my sync and use apn off application , least screen display brightness got a widget for turning it high when I need it. Use mostly wifi for internet.
on CM7... 12 hours and it's dead. without wifi
well my battery life has improved by these steps:
1. Wiped all my data, cache, battery stats ,everything(though i don't think this is necessary).
2.Flashed froyo final.(I am now on devoid forever and will test my battery life on it)
3. Checked 2g networks only in settings-networks-mobile networks.(Dunno how much that helped me )
4.Install only apps which are necessary (i have around 50 installed)..and the rest you can restore via titanium when you need it....
and now my phone eats just around 1% per hour of idle time....(it's improved)
I get around 2 days backup on Devoid final with franco 16.1. Only 2G, 1-2 hours calls, sms, bit of wifi tethering, Browsing on edge for 1-2 hours, facebook, and no gaming
In Cm7 maximum around 20hours that too without wifi, or any fancy stuff. Just 30minutes browsing on 2g.

and yeah install watchdog task manager to know if some app is using excess battery..

Dude uninstall..that watchdog thing it runs in the background and eats up battery... don't use any kind of app..that is so called battery saver.. they should rather be called battery eaters... and yeah it is always recommended.. to wipe cache.. that saves battery..

IMO it is hard to compare battery use when the phone is active because it depends on too many factors: widgets, wi-fi usage, 3g/2g, app, brightness, etc.
What can I tell is that my phone in sleep use 0.6315% battery/hour
Anyhow I charge my phone every day because I play a lot with it.
I'm using OpenOptimus 1.172.1 and franco's kernel 16.1
My routine usage goes like this: 6am to 7pm (13h) plays non stop music (fmradio or poweramp). No wifi no data, 2g only.
During that time, I use 3g data for browsing, chat, emails and youtubing for a couple of hours more or less
7pm to 10pm: 2g only, no data, wifi on. I do a few browsing around 30min top, synch stuff with dropbox etc
Finally after 16-17h of usage it has around 30% - 40% of juice left in it. Then I put it for charge, go to sleep and start over again next day
On weekends it's a completely different story. Especially when i'm fooling around with GB roms i might have to charge it 2 times a day
My battery

That's weird. I flashed and reflashed andy's rom two times and I had the same issue. 10% battery drain every 2 hours. IN IDLE.
That meant my phone was dead in 20h in idle mode, 12-14 hours if used for texting and calls.
I am also using Andy's rom and kernel, with a normal use, daily 30-40 minutes with wifi on, 30-40 minutes talk and 9-10 sms. I mention that 3g is off data is usually off so since the last full recharge passed 3 days and i am still at 28%. performance is also great. Love this rom

Galaxy S2 short battery is this normal??

OK so today this is what I've done with my phone:
2 hours of music playing via headset
half an hour of music playing via external speaker
half an hour of voice talking
like 100 messages sent/received
30 minutes of internet/facebook browsing
2 albums of 100 MB each sent via bluetooth.
10 minutes of office editing
It's on 35% now and that drained after 11 hours(with the above use). Is it normal? Is my battery faulty? Is it an overuse of the phone?
That sounds completely normal for your SGS2. That's a lot of usage right there you know.
A custom rom based on android 2.3.4 (and up) and Juice Defender will certainly give you double the juice. It does for me!
That was good enough. 4-5 hours screen on time us the most I get..wifi and 3g on, push naik, stock room on speed mod kernel.

Sounds about right for that amount of usage, 100 texts in 11 hours day though crikey
BTW Juice Defender Ultimate will use as much battery as it saves so it is not recommended, this is coming from someone who used to be a huge fan but i was advised to uninstall it and ive saved loads more battery without it.
So am I, jonny68! Works good enough for me!

i guarantee you if you compare battery life with Juice Defender Ultimate and then freeze it and test, you'll save considerably more battery without,7 hours extra i got
was using JD. It crippled the phone..missed calls, late emails and so on. I stay stock, freeze Bloatware and use speedmod kernel, takes me thru the day with 4 hours screen on time, wifi 3g normal use.

I usually get over 16-18 hours of being unplugged about 3 - 3.5 hours of screen on time before I charge it (and go to bed) hehe.
I use JD free ver., balanced profile, right now and i have to say that at the moment works really good. It impressed me!I'm on stock. i surfed the net for 30 min(stream video and sites) my battery is still full. Usually it would be 1/4 less. Anyway, i don't know about you guys, but for me it seems to work ok. (i'm using it for a week now)

How long does your battery last on your SGS2?

Usually, on weekends, or holidays, I use my phone for Angry Birds, many other games, music, etc for a long period of time. Today I managed to get about 5 hours use until the battery got to 30%.
I'm not sure whether or not this is good or bad and so I'm wondering; how many hours do you get out of it, in relation to being a heavy user, medium user or light user?
Thanks
about 5/6 hours max
With normal usage 24-30 hrs. Wth heavy use, 8-10 hrs.

pretty much the same
always have 3g on and im quite sure i listen to music for 7 hours at least while im at my office...and by the end of the day i have like 20%
10 days and still going
With all data disabled most of the time, almost unused, but still connected to the GSM network, mine is now at more than 10 days (and I think it wasn't even fully charged at the start of this period). This is with stock ROM, Apex launcher, almost no other custom apps.
It's hard to have an effeicient answer since it depends on many factors : the way you use your phone, your ROM , Kernel and all setting stuffs etc ... . And even with same settings , two SGS II can have a totaly different battery drain. So, you can compare but it wont realy be so efficient .
Anyway , for me with a usual use : almost 2d and with heavy use about 16-24 h. I m on Wanamlite 10.6 with last Siyah V3.0 Kernel.
At weekends 5 hours max weekdaus prob 8-9 hours
Mod or Die
Plenty of hourly syncing and light use....
Stock rooted KL1 + LPR radio
I have tried 3 different ROMs and with the last ICS ROM i had 8-9 hours with heavy use of 3G/Bluetooth/sync ... and of course it's depends of what apps (games ) i use among the day ...
awesome how some users get 24 hours with a single battery charge.
When I use my S2 as a normal phone, about 20 hours.
But with heaving usage and gaming (which I do pretty much) probably between 6 or 8 hours also.

i guess screen on time is more important than overall battery time. I Used to get 4hr screen on time with a full day usage which is quite good for me and i think its average.

+1 Agreed here are some on my screen shots.
Usually prefer to watch youtube video's through browser So flash is must & it is a nice battery drainer too.Plus 4 hours of non-music playback !
Brightness - 20%
When i use gprs heavily it is very less!
Normal use may last a day!
Playing games also burns the battery pretty fast!
I have a Superatmos ROM installed in my Galaxy SII i9100G and I get around 30 to 35 hours of standby time with normal to low use. I do however browse the internet over WiFi some 4 hours a day.
I am quite happy with the performance of my phone.
So far its three months but its like Triggers Broom .

Battery Life / Performance

I decided to make a thread to see what kind of battery life and performance people are getting with their devices. Please include what build you're on, the kernel you're using, any special apps you're using, and any comments you have about your setup.
Guess I'll start..
Build: The Base 0.7.3 (4.0.4)
Kernel: sk8's 2.2 ICS kernel
Apps: Android Tuner Pro and SetCPU
I use Android Tuner for voltage control and governor settings. SetCPU is used for profiles to adjust the CPU frequencies for different apps. As well as a lot of tweaks I've applied. Forgot to take a screenshot before I charged my phone, but I'm able to push 36hours with about 6 hours of screen on time.

Pure stock rooted, locked bootloader, frozen bloatware. 18000+ on average Antutu, over 7000 Quadrant average. Battery goes from 12 hours to 27 hours, my two broadest 'average' ranges. 12 had moderate use, 27 had light use, data off, power saver on.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
Make sure you also post your screen on time like the OP. Your ROM, kernel, tweaks, etc are important, but screen on time is the closest we can get to a constant variable.
On 12 hours, screen on was about 3 hours. 27 it was about 45 minutes. I've deleted the screenshots though.

Great, Nice work
On ginsix v1.5. Only sync I have is my Google account and gps always on. Brightness set to 60%. I usually get 4 hours of on screen time and up to 30 hours depending on use.

I am running rooted Stock ROM/Kernel (waiting for official JB update) with unlocked bootloader. I have been recieving terrible battery life though! I've tried calibrating it and still had issues. Besides that, I get like -5% every 7 minutes of low-mild screen on use even with Eco, Powersave, and underclocked at 384 MHz all enabled. About -10% every hour with the screen off. :/ I'm going to go ahead and factory reset/wipe and restore my apps. Hopefully this will solve my jacked up battery.
EDIT:
I think the battery has improved just a tiny bit after factory resetting. It not exactly satisfactory (about -9% every hour with screen off), but I think that might be normal for smartphones, right?? Under battery stats, it shows "Android OS" as using over 40% of the battery. I don't think that's normal.

That's the main reason why I use The Base. On top of being speedy, there a "fix" option for fast dormancy which helped me tremendously seeing as I rarely use LTE. It's like.. It disables it when not in use, but enables it when needed.

So what is defined as "On Screen time"? I charged my phone all night and this morning unplugged the phone and turned on my screen and told it to not go turn off ever. I was hoping to test out the heating issue, as the previous version would start to get hot after half an hour of screen time. I left it sitting on my desk all day and after about 7 hours it ran down to 15 percent but when i look at "on screen time" it shows only about 5 hours (it should be at 7 hours as i started this when i got to work 7 hours ago...). I literaly just left my phone on and didn't interact with it at all, all day. Seems a whole lot better to me than the phone i got this as a replacement for. But was just wondering what is calculated for on screen time.
BTW: This is stock phone, just pulled out of the factory box. Not rooted, not unlocked, don't even have any accounts tied to it or moved any icons around.
It's best to track battery life/screen on time with every day use. Or for those that are heavy users, with games and such. Just leaving my phone on idle with screen on I can get about 11 hours as all my cores but 1 go offline while one remains at 384MHz.

You can do the fast dormancy fix, even on stock ICS. There's a thread, in this section, that's dedicated to it (there's even an app, if you are unsure of doing the code submission that's outlined in the thread). It makes a HUGE difference, in my battery life.
