Hi all,
Hope you guys can help me.
Two days ago I was digging my rooted device(2.3.5) and had accidentally uninstalled my "settings.apk",... Now I cant change my settings because I've lost my access to settings menu..Also, many functions like widgets, wifi config and sms service seems to be gone.
Can you guys believe I was able to do that?? haha...
I need someone to send me this apk again or..... Since My device is from Brazil and I dont know if there's something diff between verions, I need to reinstall my Android but I couldnt find a tutorial..
Could please try to help me??
Regards,
Fernando
look for the fastboot files for your device in the development section
My razr is also from Brazil, but was bought in Canada. It is not rooted. Can I help you anyway?
Hummmm...Maybe....if you could send me the "settings.apk" I can try to reinstall it... Since your RAZR is from Brazil, I bleieve you'll find it with diff name, "Configurar.apk"
I'd be glad if you try..

Didnt work. still no access to settings menu.
Hey
A user has sent me the settings.apk, bur it hasnt worked, it finishes the instalation with the msg "Application is not installed"...I believe I'll have to reinstall 2.3.5 (brasilian versionagain... I saw lots of threads talking about it, but since I'm not familiar with this it will be hard to find the right one?
Could you please point me the right thread to follow?? Is there a step by step?
Thanks,
Fernando
You don't install system apks, you push them to /system/app, or drop them in there manually with a file explorer that has root access (root explorer, es file explorer, et cetera). User-installed apps live in the /data partition.
Make sure you have the matching settings.odex in /system/app as well.

Hummmm.. i hope this will help u
Great...
I'll try that, but I also need the ".odex" as for razr 2.3.5 as well.
MAX6500, could you send me your ".odex" file too??
Thanks
Hi all,
I'm facing similar issues...
I stupidly deleted some system files which I had backed up, the backup however dosent seem to work even after placing it in the system/app folder with the right permissions and ownership.
also I can't seem to find a leaked fastboot file for my system version: 65.1.21.XT910.PSHAsiaRetail.en.03
any ideas?
My RAZR is back...

Last time i flashed cm9 on my p7500 i had to remove the first line of the updater-script for cwm to flash it. now i got the same problem with an other build. i wonder if i could change it somehow without the need of a computer. root explorers text editor doesnt seem to work inside a zip file and fully extracting and repacking seems a bit to much for just little modifications.
got any advice for me?

Get root explorer, unextract to a folder, edit with notepad or text editor, then find a zip program to zip it back, Truth be told, why not just get something like WiFi Explorer so you don't need to bring the cable with you everywhere, do the changes on a laptop and send it via WiFI to the folder you want, Kinda like an FTP. It's zipping back that's the problem, most support for editing in zip's changes the permission which can cause issues later.
Hi guys, i'm a galaxy s3 user for only 1 month. I have my phone rooted today by cf-root with no problems. Then i replaced my wpa_supplicant file with the file given in that thread
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=854913
I'm using rootexplorer to reach the system folder. I restarted my phone and the wifi seems bricked (it hangs turning on). I have a backup of my original wpa_supplicant file and copied it into the folder system/bin, but nothing changed, the wifi still hangs turning on. My question is, can you post the original wpa_supplicant file? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My phone is rooted with cf-root v-6.4 kit, and running on 3.0.15.782020 stock kernel, and the baseband ver. is I9300XXLFB.
EDIT: I have solved my problem. It probably caused by permissions. If you need help, please feel free to contact through pm
EDIT 2: I added my original wpa_supplicant file with a screenshot which shows the permissions of wpa_supp. file for those having the same problem. I will check the wpa_supplicant file to find out if i can do anything to show the ad-hoc networks, developing aside, i am a total noob if i succeed, then will write back again.

Hi, unfortunately, it is impossible to show adhoc networks on our devices, at least now... If your pc is running on windows 7, you can try a virtual hotspot application that makes your wifi visible to your phone. I am using windows xp, so there is no way but waiting for a fix.

I have the same problem of freezing when i try to turn WiFi on but i never replaced or changed any wpa_supplicant file or anything. Just once i flashed vu and it happened. Since then only sometimes it starts working and again gives the same error. I also checked the permissions, they are exactly what u have on your ss.
I am having problems with my Samsung galaxy S2 (gt-i9100) when i try to connect to my WiFi. i enable WiFi on my phone and then try o connect to the net work. my phone picks up the network and i then enter the password. Before i upgraded my phone to supernexus build 5 it connected to the wifi with ease ,at this point it was running the out of the box gingerbread rom. my phone then says connecting, authenticating, obtaining network IP. then my phone just says saved and is not connected to my router. my WiFi is working as my Ipad connects and can use the WiFi. please can you help.
Kelvin
I think you have the same problem of mine but with different software.
my problem solution is:
flash a rom based on LSJ & backup the file under etc/wifi (system files)
then flash LS8 & replace the same files with your backup
looks like LS8 has buggy files
you might have the same case. try to find another WORKING variant of your software & take the wifi files from it
You have to delete system files first before you put your backup files. don't overwrite.
I just restart my router and it connects with ease

sorry for being so late.
no there isn't. this isn't a flashable file.
you just have to open the zip of any LSJ rom & go to etc/wifi. copy all the files in it then paste them in the same place of the LS8 rom you want to use. you have to delete the original files in LS8 before you paste
then flash & I hope it will work for you.
Hi
I have this problem with my friends galaxy ace GT-S5839i:
I need someone to help me here because I don't know what to do
I pulled the file framework-res.apk from system and then changed the extension to zip, and changed an image inside one of the folders.
After that I zipped the pack again (tried several zip options) and changed the extension back to apk
My first question: Is this ok?
I copied the changed file to sdcard and using es explorer moved the file to system/framework. Imediately After answering if I wanted to overwrite the phone freezes and never booted again.
I restored the rom and tried several times with same result
I tought the problem would be trying to overwrite a file that's in use but then I found a tool the decompiled the original apk, changed the image, compiled and signed it and made a flashable zip of it.
It gsve always error in trying to flash this on recovery so I extrated the compiled and signed new framwork apk and moved it to system with es explorer... The difference now is that it didn't froze the phone but started to show fc's everywhere. Rebooted, wipede cash and dalvik, messed up woth permissions... Everything I could think of and the result os always tbe same...
Please can amyone share a light here?
Thanks

Ok
I'm gonna look into it, thanks
Edit: Nothing I found there worked...
The only solution was install a different rom (previously had a stock rooted 2.3.6) v4.1
Changed the framework file from the rom and flashed it...
Its working now but still don't know why the previous actions didn't work
Thanks
