i have some videos and pics on a 32 GB flash memory , when i connect it to my S2 with Gingerbread 2.3.6 , the videos and pics showed in the Gallery app after media scanner finished working ,
but on the other hand on ICS 4.0.3 , i connected the same flash memory , and waited about 10 mins , but the media files on the flash drive never showed in the stock gallery app like it did in ICS
so what's the problem here?
any solutions to make the media on flash drives i connect to GS2 appear in gallery app?

there is an app in gogole play store that allows you to force start media scan...try that out..

thx for replying , but unfortunately i have tried apps like media scanner pro already
+1 for this question..how can we force ics to show the files on the gallery especially photos and vids while on otg mode please someone could answer this
Try an 3rd party app, like QuickPic or Camera ICS.

I don't know how this happened, one minute everything was fine. Then I went to show a friend a video and everything in my gallery was gone.. I'm currently on litening 6.1. I just flashed from 5 today to see if a reflash would fix the problem. But nothing is fixed... if anyone else has had a similar problem please let me know. Thanx.

Recuva may find deleted files on a memory card .

I had a same problem in my SGS II....2 day before i took lots fo photos and videos, when i open the galaxy some photos shows as question mark so i re-started my phone and everything gone...since that time i tried every posibilities to recover them thru data recovery softwares...but no luck at all, i can not find any single photo or video what i'd taken that day. My storage were in SD card...very annoying! please someone help to solve this problem....
Hey sorry guys. Now I'm doin it. Haha. Na they weren't deleted.I could find them on my SD card through file explorer and I could find music through power amp. But it was getting frustrating so I did factory reset and everything was fine. Must've been a bug in the gallery or something.??

This is the known problem in Android..
Teh same happened to me on my SG3..
Teh stock 3d gallery and music palyer aint tht good..
Gallery for teh Eclair ROM (2d galley) was alot more faster an better.. But we won't be able to use it in FROYO or GINGERBREAD until some one ports it
Use power Amp an Quick pic as alternatives..
Quick Pic is a must personally. Don't like poweramp for the simple fact that when compared to samsungs stock music app, poweramp at the same volume sounds more distorted

But the stock player won't detect any of teh media files at all in my phone
At first I thot it to be my sd card problem.. But its not..
Bought a new class 10 8Gb SDHC.. but still teh problem persists..
Navigate to music folder open a file choose with stock player .
Play Close then see if player picks up all .
All my MP3s are on external SD card folder named songs and all picked up on all roms .

Guys i 've been searching everywhere for this, but can't find a solution.
Ever since i instaled the Jb XXDLI1 and now the XXDLI2 i'm having problems with the external sd. The stock camera app can't record the photos on it. Mx player can't find any videos on the card too.
the weird thing is that if i go to the folder and click directly on the file it opens normaly.
Other camera apps work perfectly.
Another problem is while transfering files with the usb cable. it is so slow that would take hours to transfer a movie.
Anyone knows any solution for this ?

First thing...what is your rom? Is it a custom rom? XXDLI2 is a leaked jb firmware..thus different bugs can be observd.
Everything is working fine on dli2.. So it is not a bug in the rom.. You might need to do a clean install to get rid of these problems.. Also have you checked the option to store photos on memory card under settings in the camera app

The problem happens in the stock and custom roms. I tried both. I am using now the omega rom.
The weird is that if i go back to older leaks all is fine.
The option to save on the sd card is checked. Once i try to take a photo a warning pops up saying the picture cant be saved on the sd card.
Only the stock camera app and mx video cant use the sd. All other apps can see it normaly.
What bothers me the most is the extremely slow transfer of files using the usb cable. If i take the sd and conect it to an adapter the transfer goes fine.

Hey guys im pretty new to this, i have been running my xperia U (rooted) on the old gingerbread for sometime now, finally bit the bullet and unrooted it and upgraded to ICS 4.0.4 via SCC. I quite like ICS its smoother and the phone runs faster (although battery life now suffers) the only issue i am having is I cant play videos on my phone; this includes camera video in the gallery and embedded videos on the browser. I have factory reset about 100 times still hasnt worked and have tried installing adobe air, flash etc still nothing. When i click on a video in the gallery for example i try touching the play button but nothing happens, the thumbnail and video still image is fine just there is no response from touching the play button.
Am i missing something? or am i being a complete tool, iv looked all over the forums for help on this but everyone else seems to be getting some kind of error message, mines just doesnt respond to the touch....

Thanks for the replies guys but i would prefer to use the devices own video player as i like my menu to be as clutter free as possible with out any uneccesary apps. Update - I reinstalled firmware using SCC last night and video works perfect! untill i start removing the bloatware (like gmail, talk, movies, play now etc) using titanium backup and then the video goes to the same problem again... any suggestions?
could i try reflashing kernel? any one had this issue before?

Ive come across an unusual problem today. I tried streaming videos and none of the videos are playing on both chrome and the defalt internet app. I always used the default browser video player
When a video is clicked to play, the usual black screen appears but thereafter it just keeps loading with the circle going round in the middle (attached screen). But nothing happens. I have not installed any other apps since before nor any other mods.
What I have already tried.
I have resetted app preference under app manager and stil the same issue
Tried installing MX player and tried to load the strea ming video via mxplayer still same issue.
Appreciate your help.

normally i download videos from fb with FVD when i click on the videos i get options which app to open with.
But today the videos just start playing im facebooks built in player.
How do i stop it doing this?

yes it does
Facebook made its player months ago, it open videos with its player for me too. To mention some times it doesn't and lets me chose with what I open but I think thats just a bug.
So you will face that from now on.

try clearing from Settings/Applications manager/All Apps tab-->Facebook - Clear Defaults button
did your FVD app get updated?
if yes, it might require a configuration like it did the first time you installed it
as suggested by @ra3or clearing app data and cache from your application settings is suggested.
