Hello,
I just bought my first Android device (YP-G70). I've rooted it so I can use Titanium Backup.
Next, I would like to be able to boot from the external sd card. Does anyone have a good link
to do this? Hopefully, something clear for a newbie. I've searched with Google and have only
found bits and pieces - usually referencing Cyanogenmod (?). Do I need that or is there another
way to get an OS image onto the card?
Thanks

OK so I have a nook tablet and I wanna root it so I can blow out the ****ty B&N OS and put on CM7 or something. Last time I tried to do the zerg script root it didn't work. Can you guys help point me in the right direction for the root as well as the install for CM7? Would I just install clockworkmod and install from recovery like I do on my phone? Also how stable is the whole process, I don't wanna brick my tablet.

Search in the dev section. There are numerous threads in there about various ways to root and install any custom rom. As far as a brick, I have yet to see an actual case of a bricked NT that hasn't been able to be recovered. (not including any kind of hardware failure)
That's the point of me asking there are several topics on the subject, I wanna sort through all the crap and get the best tutorials.

Yes, you would install CWM and install CM7 from CWM if you intend to run from internal. If Nook&Zergy isn't working for you, you could always make a bootable root SD card, as seen here:

The whole process has been trial and error. All of the information is available for the taking. What you mean to say is "I wanna be lazy and have someone do the searching for me".
Honestly, I have no problem at all helping someone. As long as they are willing to help themselves.

Hi folks,
I just stumbled across a cheap and cheerful ICS 4.0.3 7" tablet in Currys\Dixons for next to nothing in price [£79].
http://www.dixons.co.uk/gbuk/versus-touchpad-7-tablet-pc-8-gb-13828789-pdt.html
However identifying the thing is now doing my head in. Its made for a company called Versus http://versusuk.com [Nice joomla site, LoL].
Android System Info tells me the following:
Android Version: 4.0.3
CPU ABI: armeabi-v7a
Maker: Unknown
Bootloader: Unknown
Hardware: sun4i
Radio:Unknown
Device: GT-I9100 [Samsung S2??]
Fingerprint: samsung/GT-I9100/GT-I9100:4.0.3/IML74K
Model: Touchpad7
Kernel Version: 3.0.8 [email protected] #1
Does anyone know what this thing actually is and what ROM's can be loaded on it because right now I am confused.
Well its just a generic ics tablet. Probably no dev community so no roms for it.

No, it does not appear the be the same tablet. The Versus has only 512 MB or RAM, while the other tablet has 1 GB. So the upgrade to the custom rom might not work.
Any luck ?
sorry to bring this thread back up. i just bought one of these and rooted it fine. i do however want to know what all that Chinese symbols say when i hold power + vol down?
also an android with a red triangle when i hold power + vol up.

I have managed to contact versus and they gave me the original firmware in case I mess up. If you want it just say and I'll post the links
I am also trying to make a custom rom for it so people can flash it via livesuit

Memory upgrage slot
Hi all,
So I have thye Versus touchpad 7, 8GB the one the OP posted
I bought a 16GB microSD card for it but when it's installed in the tablet, it's only showing 5GB of extra space, but in other devices, it's showing the whole 16GB (well more like 14GB but thats memory for you) can you help me understand why it's only showng the extra 5GB in the tablet.
And if you can be so kind, I bought it as a eBook reader really, and I use the kindle app for it, I was happy when I found it preinstalled on the device, but I can't move it to the SD card, is there away to make it so I can move the kindle app to the SD crad, again I can only coment on my mobile but that will let me move it to the SD card, but in the tablet it wont.
thanks for any help you can give me on these matters, I hope to hear from someone soon.
Hello ^
Umm its kind of hard to explain. In the tablet it has an internel SD card of 8gb and only shows that SD card. I have just exchanged my one as my SD card slot broke and waiting for it to be delivered so can't tell you much more.
Regards to moving the kindle app, no you can't. I have rooted it and tried to delete/ move the app but for some reason it always says application not found. It is stored in OEM folder (don't know what it stands for) and not in system files. So therefore it can't be manipulated in any way.
That's the best I can give at this present moment until I get mine delivered
Hope I helped

Hi all,
Ive had one of these for a few months, and am very impressed so far.
They sent me the firmware yesterday in case I mess it up - the img they sent me is dated 31/07/2012. Given that mine is older than that do you think this may actually be a newer version?
Also, is there an easy way to "open" the img file and remove the preinstalled apps such as "angry birds?"
TIA

Did you know that the Versus Touchpad is a re-branded generic Chinese tablet also known as the LY-F1.
I managed to install CM10 rom on my 1GB Versus Tab by firstly installing this rom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1572425
Once you install that you can then install this one - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1662324
i happen to work for the company that makes these and i have one myself they actually have 1gig of ddr3 ram it was a misprint that was only recently noticed.
What about Exagerate?
Hi all,
I recently purchased a tablet which specifications seem to be the same as your devices.
Does anybody know if the Exagerate Zelig XZPAD700 shares the same hardware of the Versus (and the LY-F1?)
Thanks in advance
Anyone know how I can install the play store on this device? My nephew just got one for Xmas and wants to download games.

First off go to versusuk.com and download the livesuit software for the pc. Follow the instructions included.
Download and install this first using livesuit
http://www.mirrorcreator.com/files/0YANNGHI/SpeedICS_Seby0.7.1.7z_links
Once installed then download this one and move it to your sd card
http://www.mirrorcreator.com/files/ZR8VKUXW/CM10_v6.zip_links
To flash the second rom you use cwm which you access by powering off the device and then pressing vol- and power together
Once thats done then you have cm10 on your device
Thanks very much....here goes..

Hi. I also have Exagerate Zelig XZPAD700, i need a kernel with support of "init.d". Does anybody know any?
So, still a faithful Atrix user, holding out for the ported ICS kernel.
In the meantime, I want to set up a dual boot setup. I use MROM as daily driver, so want to keep that on EMMC. I want to install a BLUR based 2.3.6 ROM with Webtop on the SD card (Nottachtrix or CSROM) so I can boot into it when I want to use Webtop. Is this possible, and if so, can anyone give a step by step guide? I know there has recently been a new easy dual boot system using SManager posted on this forum.
A few questions:
* Do I need a Class 10 SD Card to do this?
* Can I update Webtop apps with newer versions?
* I want to install UbunTop http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1281528 Is this workable on dual boot?
Hope you guys can help and we can create a useful guide from your answers.

As far as I know, you can't use a stock-based ROM on the sdcard, that one will have to go on the EMMC. I could be wrong though.
Other than that, take a look here.
This shouldn't be on the general discussion forum or the the one of help? When you have a guide done you can make a thread here.

Nottatrix on Sd works - I'm running it.
Search for dual boot and read the threads senddust just released a simple all in one solution for dual boot.
Edit:
You don't need class 10, but most people can vouch, that it is a better user experience.
Ubuntop doesn't work with Dual boot afaik.

Anyone have any experience of CSROM on the SD Card for a dual boot setup? Or does Nottachtrix have better Webtop (which is my main reason for dual boot)?

I'm currently using a S2 which runs the latest CyanogenMod 10.1 nightly. I would like to know if it is possible to use a 64 GB micro SD card on my device.
Also, if it is possible to do so, kindly let me know of the method, in case it isn't direct.
Thanks a lot!

alright. first off, do you want to keep the Nook OS on your tablet (which means you have to run your ROM off of an SD card) or do you want to replace it entirely?

i found it easier to install CM on the internal memory, aka the eMMC chip, which replaces the Nook OS. your call though.
oh also there's a bunch of different ROMs for this tablet. different versions of android too, but IMO, anything from jelly bean (4.1) and up is pretty good. however, i've heard bad things about CyanogenMod 10.2 (latest stable version on their site) and i don't really like kitkat. if you want a really stable ROM, i like cm10.1.3 and there's a really old cm10 build that i like, it's not provided by the official CyanogenMod team though.
if you haven't noticed, CyanogenMod is the most popular custom ROM.. ever. and i think it's the one best-maintained by the devs here. you could try others too but for the average Joe Shmo (like you seem to be ) CyanogenMod is the best option.

To create a CM11 SD card, you can adapt the procedure outlined at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2098419: in steps 4-6 and 9-10 just substitute in the appropriate SD-based version of CM11 and corresponding Gapps zip files posted at Succulent's blog http://iamafanof.wordpress.com/2014...droid-4-4-2-for-nook-tablet-sdcxxx-01jan2013/, e.g., cm_acclaim_11.0_25APR2014_HD_SDC.zip and pa_gapps-modular-micro-4.4.2-20140426a-signed-sdc.zip.
