Bad weather tonight and got 2 seperate alerts, not via cell but text. After each I get no audio notifications until I raise and or lower the volume. Anyone else?

Hi everyone,
Just wondering which sound setting controls volume for voice talk notification? When I do driving mode and a call is incoming, the volume is really low. I set my ringer volume on the lowest (one bar up from vibrate mode). I'm guessing this is it... but can anyone verify?
I'm at work now so didn't want to disrupt people by my phone going off figuring this out.
Thanks!
I'm not sure if I'm acting handicapped here of if its the way Android was written, but my alerts for Text messages and Alarms are notoriously quiet.
I've ticked the box that says "Use incoming call volume for notifications" and then I set the incoming call volume to max. Then I unticked the volume and set each separate volume to max.
Either way, the notification volume is sooo silent that I literally have to look for the green flashing light on my phone to see if I even got a text.
And I almost missed the alarm this morning if I hadn't left vibrate on.

The x10 volume is really low sound. Its one of the only phones I have had that has such low volume. My sisters messaging phone lowest volume is louder than the x10 loudest. So you aren't the only one with the low volume complaint.

But, why is it specifically the notification volume? The incoming call volume is just fine.

I myself had to create my own ringtone with an app called ringdroid from the market from mp3 songs. The sound quality is better and louder.

Does anyone else have the problem that if you have a text tone, email tone & phone ringtone, then try and Mute or put in Vibrate mode the S3, it only mutes the ringtone, both text messages and emails are still heard. Just found that out while in a meeting
Never experienced this before, any ideas?

No, this doesn't happen to me.. if I put the phone on silent everything goes silent.
Then if you open the volume control settings you can see that the icon for notification is crossed out to indicate silent.
Are you on a custom ROM? And how are you enabling silent mode?

I'm on Vodafone stock rom, I use the notification menu and selected Mute or Vibrate and text/email tones come through. I've even turned off the sound using the volume buttons, but these tones are still coming through.
When you go to volume settings do you are the icons crossed out when in silent mode?

I get either the icon mute or icon vibrate mode set in the notification bar area. I think I may end up trying a full reset and installing apps one at a time just in case one is conflicting.
One thing I have noticed is that if I use the volume rocker and turn it to mute, if you click the settings on the right of it, it shows all 3 volume settings and I think this is where it's not muting the other notifications
Hey I am having some major sound issues with my device. The only changes I have made are rooting it. Sound modes seem to have no effect on volume sliders. When the volume is on and if I go to vibrate mode or silent mode, nothing happens. All the volume stays on and will continue. I tried bypassing the issue by installing volume control + with no results. Volume sliders were not changed by the app either. Anyone else have this issue, any ideas on how to fix it?
Thanks
Update: Resolved, there was something wrong with the root package I used the first time. I used a new one and all is good.
Afaik 'silent' only applies to alerts and notifications such as the phone ringing on incoming calls. It does not apply to the multimedia volume.

The issue includes notifications and ringtone. They both continue to play at normal volumes in silent and vibrate mode.
Changing to cyanogenmod fixed this issue for me.
I just upgraded from an S10 Plus. I have my audio settings set exactly the same. When using Google Maps to navigate I have it set to alert only. On the S10 while driving the music would drop in volume, I would get the alert tone and she would say "speed trap ahead" along with the pop-up on the screen asking if the speed trap is still there. On the S23 I only get the pop-up on the screen, no audio notification and the music volume stays constant. Is this a known bug? I would also get notification tones for messages as well, nothing on the S23. If I set it to be completely un-muted the turn by turn directions come through as expected but I have not yet driven through an area where an alert notification would come through while un-muted.
That sounds like a bug because I have a macro set to run everytime I connect to my car to turn down notification volume to 0 so it doesn't mute audio for notifications but calls still ring for me just fine.
