[Q] root XM 431 firmware without unlocking bootloader - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Really sorry for posting new thread, but this forum is so messy and this phone too.
First of all I have an Xperia Arc S with unlocked bootloader and a custom ROM and Kernel so I'm no noob.
My friend has an Xperia Mini with framework .431 and he would like an AOSP looking ROM that doesn't require unlocked bootloader and custom kernel.
We've been looking around and found Real ICS and AOSP ROM. Do you know any other nice AOSP looking ROMs for locked bootloader?
I also found DragonClawsAreSharp's guide on how to root stock .431 firmware but I still don't really understand.
So I was just wondering if anyone could just give an easy to understand, step to step guide on how to root, install CWM and flash a custom ROM without unlocking bootloader.
It would be really appreciated

DragonClaw's guide is one of the most comprehensive guide that you can follow in rooting a locked BL phone. There is even screen shots.
Or you can try SomeGuy's guide.
RealICS can be flashed on a locked BL, it is also one of the most used here.

[Q] Lock back Bootloader for Xperia Go

Is it possible to Lock Bootloader Xperia Go again? Why do we need to unlock Bootloader for Xperia Go if the only one working rom there (zip or FTF) is exactly the same as the Sony stock rom...?

you may want to read this post first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159
yes it is possible to relock bootloader for any android but that depends whether it is developed by devs and available yet for that phone. try find out at the development section for your phone model.
unlocking bootloader is required if you want to root, for superuser function, customize app functions and etc, which cannot be done in locked bootloader. you also don't have to unlock bootloader if you only want to upgrade your phone or change your stock rom to other region stock roms, just flash the file using flashtool. hope this helps

All versions of the L9 are currently rootable. See link below on how to root.
What device do you have and what firmware is it running? You may or may not be able to install custom ROMs based on this.
This guide works for locked and unlocked bootloaders: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173465
It also mentions CWM installation (Step 12)
Just FYI, there are multiply threads on the L9 broken down by category: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2072
In the future, hopefully this will narrow down your search

If you want to install a kernel like lupus, first you need to unlock your bootloader. Use this tool to unlock it.

The risk of brick your device, but a lot of people already unlocked their bootloaders without any problems, your DRM will be permanently deleted, but believe me you can get more from your phone when the bootloader is unlocked, really worth it.

And you loose your warranty
Drm won't be lost if you unlock using testpoint method.
Regards

First check the bootloader status.whether its unlocked or not.
If its already unlocked then you can flash any custom kernel. If not you have to unlock BL first. Its not harmful but it will avoid your phone warranty.Try to use SE web site to unlock BL.Its the safest way..
After unlocking BT u can flash kernels anytime using Flash toolâ„¢..
Re:How to install a kernel
To install a custom kernel, you have to unlock your bootloader and there are two ways of doing it:
1.Use the official sony method...
head to unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com and follow the procedure there..
by doing so you lose your DRM keys which means services like track id wont work anymore...
2.use a testpoint method which is a bit complicated but you retain your DRM keys
for the testpoint method check this out
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1730874
Bootloader unlocking should be done carefully, you might brick your phone if you are not careful..
after the unlock is complete you can use flashtool to flash a custom kernel in fastboot mode..

[Q] Downgrading Xperia Advance ST27a

Do I need to unlock the bootloader if I want to downgrade to GB from ICS?
and is there any other way to unlock the bootloader without the official SONY method?

No. The only reason you have to unlock your bootloader is in case you want to install a custom kernel, otherwise there is no reason. O don't know if there is any other way to unblock bootloader except the one from Sony and honestly I think there is no reason.
To downgrade from ics to gbe you have to install flashtool on your pc and download the gb ftf file and flash it.
There is a tutorial on YouTube on how to use flashtool on arc and the way is pretty similar to st27. The only thing you have to do is find on st27 development thread the drivers and the gb Rom. Here is the YouTube tutorial
