Ok I am S-off 1.40 H-boot
I want to know is there a way to go to 1.58 H-boot without being stuck there and to be able to go back to 1.40 revolutionary if I so choosed?
I dont the feeling of being locked into something if you know what I mean!
Since you are s-off, you can switch hboot at will. It will say locked, but s-off trumps locked.

Even if I just flash the hboot? Also I would have to do HTC unlock method to unlock am I correct on that also if I choose to go back to 1.4 would I have to do revolutionary again?

I personally flashed firmware and radios without the 1.58 hboot from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1673377
The only reason to go to the 1.58 hboot is if you want to run the new stock ICS kernel. If you do upgrade it, you lose the ability to flash GB and AOSP based ROMs. Too big of a trade off for me, so I stayed with 1.4.
Having said that (and to answer your question), you do not have to unlock with HTCdev and you do not have to redo revolutionary to go back to 1.4. Since you are s-off, you just have to flash the hboot you wish to flash using the corresponding PG86IMG.zip

The reason why I am asking is because I want to try Viruses new sense 4 rom but it requires hboot 1.58 but like you said I dont want to lose the ability to go back to GB Only because some games I play only run on GB

So basically in a not shell I can go to hboot 158 and have to htc dev to unlock the to go back to hboot 1.40 I just simply flash the hboot zip and Revolutionary it!
So basically its a huge pain in the as$ just to test a new rom out! lol

Yes I obviously did because I am still confused on the whole process!
let me know If I understand this right!
If I just use the 1.58 hboot update I dont need to use htc dev unlock to flash rom and kernel's?
If I dont care for the 1.58 hboot I can just flash 1.40 hboot back with no extra steps like revolutionary.
I just want to make sure I am fully educated before I do something stupid!
My lesson was learned from the Virgin crap! lol

Anyways, go this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192306 and download the SHIP 1.40 hboot (unless you want the ENG one, then download that). Follow the instructions in that post, and flash it. Just a simple PG86IMG.zip.

You can root, but you also forfeit your warranty to HTC by doing HTC Unlock, that code that you use to unlock it, gives them your device info, including serial number and when you bring it to sprint for repair, they can just look it up and see that you've rooted and voided your warranty.

You can brick your device!
Forgive my ignorance, but if you are s-off, why would you want to do this? I thought 1.5 s-off was just as good as1.4 s-off.
Sent from my PG86100
When set at 1.5 you cant change the splash screen or radio. or other settings.
Also Bricking it is what I need to do to convert it to 1.4 BUT I cant to that until I have S-ON. Correct?
You are s-off so no need to brick, just download this copy it to sd card and flash via bootloader.
Also I could be mistaken, but I believe hboot 1.5 is perfectly ok as long as you are S-off, I am pretty sure you can flash whatever you want.
BTW the download link is taken from OP in this thread, you might want to read through it.

^Exactly this. If you read the first post of that thread (especially the gigantic red letters and what is under that), it will tell you to NOT brick an S-off phone as it will permanently brick it. You just need to flash the 1.4 bootloader.

Ya I didn't even think about revolutionary only working with 1.4 or below that must be the problem. You are welcome for the help, I just figured most of this out about a week ago when I had to do the downgrade after unlocking with htc method.
I would fastboot oem lock then do HTC's unlock again.

Never a problem with asking questions. The user was S-OFF, so it doesnt matter that his H-boot said locked. He can do whatever he pleases.
The poster was suggesting he use an overly complicated method (HTC dev to unlock the bootloader and either fastboot flashing the recovery or using an app to do it) when all he had to do was install the recovery via the bootloader
He probably could just have easily installed the old 1.12 bootloader.

Reflash boot image through recovery you have to mount USB to get the file on your sf card then reboot system then go back to fastboot and accept the update

That one with about 384 kB. Then, turn off your phone, turn it on in bootloader (volume down + power on). Wait a little and it will ask you to update. Press volume up, and wait. After that you have to delete that PG file from sd card. (that pg 300 MB has a rom on it..thats why it is so big)

If the bootloader doesn't find the zip, make sure it's named PG86IMG.zip (capitalization as is) and make sure there is no double zip extension.

If you can boot into your ROM then just check whether your phone is recognizing data on your sdcard. Sometimes after the wire trick sdcards tend to flip out. Your pc might be detecting it fine but the phone might not. Just humor me and try playing a song or something from the card just to rule out this possibility

If you are still having issues let me know. I have recently had the same problem as yourself.
With hboot 1.53 you can only run ICS ROMs but if you are not able to run ICS either I would use a 4EXT recovery then enable smart flash (I know this should only matter when s-on is worth a go) Also use fastboot to flash the boot.img from what ever ROM you have chosen just incase it's an issue with that.
PG86img.zip files are CID specific and need to be for your location and carrier (from my understanding) unless you have a super CID which is 11111111 (denoting a factory unlocked device, but don't quote me)
I too have a 1.53.0007 hboot and also am having trouble finding a solution to hboot changes once you are s-off with that hboot. How I got that hboot after gaining s-off is beyond me but it seems I am not alone and if that hboot can be put in it HAS to be able to change it. The easiest way that I can think of is to gain s-on (I haven't looked hard enough for that yet though) then to s-off again and make the hboot update that way.
by the way (now I can't find it's exact meaning and am choked) I was really surprised that the beer reference had more than just a catchy ring to it. Engineering something or other, I shoulda wrote it down

I am assuming that your phone wasn't S-OFF at the time? I accidentally tried to S-OFF one of my EVO 3Ds (GSM) that was already S-OFF at the time and I got a "WOW!!! What are you doing. Your phone appears to be S-OFF already. Doing so again could result in impotence, and death" or words to that effect. Basically a gaudy do you want your phone to die type of a message. If your device was S-OFF to begin with I was not aware that you could use Juopunutupbear to change the HBOOT version without going through the whole S-OFF process. Can you give some more details as to your phones state (i.e., HBOOT version, S-ON or S-OFF, etc...) before you used juopunutupbear to change the HBOOT. Thanks

There is a thread about how exacly you can downgrade your hboot, maybe could be better explained but study the forum a bit more... I also had that problem and after two days searching and downloading all kinds of files I did it...
