I also want a port of it that is kept updated. But the lack of devs (less quantity) and the fact that some devs hate how it work makes it improbable that we will have a port...

There's a reason behind this.
Your phone is meant to run at a certain dpi, okay, so you might be able to easily change it but that doesn't mean you should. The whole per app dpi thing is just fussy. Changing dpi basically screws with market compatibility.
Put it this way, when CyanogenMod were going to implement cornerstone into CM, they were urged not to do it by Google. So ugly hacking of the framework probably violates several AOSP policies.

I know about those things. K900 explained me. I don't hate any devs that think it's wrong. They're right. But, even that, I will wish a port of it. I think the most hard part would be WiFi and phone functionality from a port. Maybe I could see it would work. But no one should feel obligated (because no one is) to port it.

Afaik it's based off CM9/10, so you could just compile the ROM (providing it is open-source) with CM device, vendor and kernel tree.

I need a really high quantity of RAM to compile a ROM and a good processor, afaik. I only have an AMD X2 processor with 4 Gb of RAM, so a no go for me. And I'm nothing more than a simple user that knows more or less of tech...
But thanks anyway

Intel core 2 duo @ 1.8GHz per core
4GB RAM
Linux Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit
I can compile in 5 hours on that o course that is impractical and I use buildbot services provided by goo.im to build.
I'd love to build this but quite busy with life atm, once everything is sorted I'm hoping to get AOSP or a derivative on my phone. (unicorns FTW).
I'm sure it will get ported, its inevitable really.

Oh... Your PC is still better than mine. (AMD never more). And I use Windows (Ubuntu never managed to work on my pc). And I don't have 5 hours lol. I read somewhere here in Xperia S forum that at least 16 Gb of RAM was needed, with at least Intel Core i5... Well, good luck with your life.

Unofficial cm9 from joelz has dropped

i've been using JoelZ's unofficial cm9 all day and if you don't mind not having a camera, it has the potential to be a great daily.
Meh, I need 4G for a daily driver, hence why it feels like development had slowed to a crawl for me.
Anyway, just picked up the AMD FX 8-core for my MAME/media center arcade cabinet. Wonder how high I can clock it with my air cooling setup.

Meh,Bulldozer was a flop but it should score well..But that processor didn't live up to the hype that surrounded it before launch.

Same. Have had some wifi connectivity issues but other than that everything works. Battery life sucks but that will get better as development progresses. Facebook sync not working is bugging me but I'm assuming that's on FB's side, they need to pick up the slack. I can live without a camera for a short time but since my girlfriend lives in another state currently, camera for video chat is a must.

I understand that it is miles behind the Intel Core iX series, but the fact that I'm using it for emulation in an old arcade machine and the price I paid makes it more then justifiable. Got the CPU, a good motherboard, a Cooler Master radiator, and 2 huge fans for it, all for around $250. I'm using the hard drives, DVD ROM drive, power supply, and old ati x1300 from my old computer (the ASUS motherboard decided to crap its own BIOS out).
Don't ask me why I'm still using an x1300, unless you can find me a true ATI HD 4xxx, I need it to display the 15khz horizontal refresh the arcade monitor needs to sync.

Hey guys, welcome in my thread!
I'm netchip, a young boy who likes to mod sources and phones, I said I'll bring AOSP to our SGS2, as we speak, here it is! It's clean from other things than AOSP. Pure AOSP, clean as possible. It's tested properly and it works very smooth . I'll update this when there's a new Android version out, like 4.0.4, but I need sources. The bugs are the same as CM9, youtube works properly. It's deodexed, has light GApps, and you need to enable sync in Settings before it does sync . No Facebook sync included because it isn't AOSP. They simply must update their app. If you need a modded version I'll refer to Paradoxxx's thread, I do help him with his development!
If you donate it goes into a fund for buying me a gnex (galaxy nexus), so I can easily test my new mods out and then port it to our SGS2. Trust me, I'll keep supporting the SGS2 .

Thanks for taking a look, Skyrocket forums are trying, but not much progress being made, Not that theyre not doing a hell of a job, its just a pain in the rear for this device imparticular. Ive been looking all over online not much help anywhere as far as development goes. The galaxy note (US) and the Hercules (T989) are similar, the Hercules almost identical, with exception of modem.

You should tell people everything you say on IRC
First, you're not testing the build on your own phone, we don't even know if you really have an SGS2. Your mom doesn't let you root your phone. You haven't done a lot of work on this ROM: It's mainly copy&paste of CM9 Galaxy S II device tree into AOSP, it's not like you actually -did- something.
Okay I agree, not everyone likes CM9 and some prefer pure AOSP, that's a matter of taste. But it's definately not worth giving a penny to a 12 years old boy which change opinion every other day ("I want an SGS3", next day "I want a Galaxy Nexus", next day "I want an HTC quadcore, f*ck samsung!", and now he wants a GNex again), and that NEVER contributed to the SGS2 development...
He says he'll keep on supporting SGS2, but how is he supporting right now? He's just doing a stripped copy and paste of CM9... If WE fix something then he'll "kang" it and put it into his ROM. He didn't even credited Team Hacksung yet, he "plans" to do it soon... Knowing from the beginning that it's based at 99% on our work.
You should remember that he also distributed a non-tested Galaxy Note kernel (he doesn't owns one), and plan to do so with other devices as well. This could've fully-bricked device... He is definately not someone you can trust, believe me.
Now if you want to give him money, go ahead. But I warned you.
somebody needs to go stand in the corner!

Miui v4 cm9 based

Where can I get a miui v4 from that is not Sammy based? I like the cm9 camera app and a few other things better.. How is it MIUI? It's a couple of apps placed over a core that someone else brought up, because the MIUI team is incapable of doing a device bringup.
Sounds exactly like MIUI to me.

It us very different than Sammy, and they changed to a Sammy base to get miui running on ics faster. A lot of the kernel is different, just like 90% of the ROM is different. Before you insult a development team by saying something like that, do your research. And please explain how it feels like tw, because I'm hard pressed to find any similarities. A base means some basic code for the ROM and kernel in this case. This ROM is completely different from Samsung. Now be quiet.

What is CM-Manager?
CyanogenModManager (CMM) is inspired by the awesome "cmcompiler" from "lithid", but CMM is not "cmcompiler", niether is it based on it.
CMM is completely written from scratch using the gambas3 runtime.
What will/can CMM do?
As long as it is not released it really wont do much for you..
The plan is:
-Download CyanogenMod for your device and automatically check md5sum
-Compile CyanogenMod
-ADB
Supported Distributions
all (*)ubuntu families, openSuse, Magiea, Fedora. (KDE/GNOME)
Will this be opensource?
Sure, when the code is ready and in a good state.
It will be released under the GPLv3
Download
CM-Manager ist not yet complete and still in heavy development.
However, once in a while I will be releasing snapshots of the current development.
Development Snapshot Builds #2:
http://code.google.com/p/cm-manager/downloads/detail?name=snapshot-cm-manager_0.0.2-1_all.deb
NOTE: Snapshot build's will not have unfinished features enabled.
If you are a developer and want to help out, you are welcome, please contact me
How to Install on ubuntu:
Add PPA repository to get gambas3 runtime : https://launchpad.net/~nemh/+archive/gambas3
Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nemh/gambas3
download the cm-manager.deb from the link above and install it with your package manager.
Features completed
- DownloadManager
snapshot#2
- fixed crash

LOL.. you don't want to know ..
I was planning on porting lithid's code to PyQt4/PySide as that is besides ".net" usually what I use at work.. I am a KDE guy and for the love of Qt, I couldn't use cmcompiler....... but, the truth is I'm bored and lazy so I felt like trying something new and ended up using the new gambas3 runtime .. actually, I was just playing with the language and the IDE and trial and trying a few things, to see what is possible and how far I would get,.. well...I got in fast and far and I am having fun with it (this language really lets you do freaky code ;-) )..
You know, I have sympathy for basic languages, my first computer was a amstrad with datasete and it came with locomotive-basic..I really loved that thing.

Depending on which branch is selected, the list gets automatically generated..
If your device is not "officially" supported by CyanogenMod then it wont be in the list.
Also..please, don't quote the OP with the screenies, it unnecessarily bloats the screen..
Thanks

Depending on which branch is selected, the list gets automatically generated..
If your device is not "officially" supported by CyanogenMod then it wont be in the list.
Also..please, don't quote the OP with the screenies, it unnecessarily bloats the screen..
Thanks

We don't hit the min requirements which are
1ghz single core A9
512 ram
But we may still get it in the future buy even if it might not really matter to anyone here since they'll probably already own another phone
But Ubuntu is looking EPIC right now it really makes Firefox look old I love everything they did its a new different OS and already has its own xda section lol I can only imagine the stuff this will be able to do in the future when the devs here get there hands on it u can share your thoughts and get links to hands on demos in my sig (hit spoiler)

Lol i can't stand it when people reply to threads like this with - ' we don't have cmxx yet then how will we make this ' . If nobody ever tried building cm we wouldn't have had that either - you have to put some effort to achieve something - Having or not having a source build vanilla android (cyanogen) port doesn't have anything to do with porting other open source os's . There are many other hurdles or minimum requirements that our devices doesn't meet but i can assure you that mozilla have never said that a device without stable cm port won't run firefox os
And yes its possible to port firefox os even - x8 had an alpha port but they had open source drivers for adreno gpu which is not our case so
et too brute !
