Im planning to swap my o3d to photon.
Any thoughts about a good ics or jb rom please.
Also what are the cons of photon.
Thanks in advance for the reply.

As far as JB or ICS ROMs I would suggest you go with a JB ROM since to me they're more stable then ICS ROMs. Right now I'm running CNA ROM because the battery life is great on this. Only problems may be with the camera lagging and what not but all of them are good. They're all based off of jokers CM10.
Cons of the photon to me is that when you unlock boot loader 4G automatically borks. Make sure the photon you get doesn't already have 2.3.5 on it otherwise youre stuck with a perma locked boot loader and can't flash custom roms

I agree ^
JB all the way, and I also agree w the CNA choice. Battery life and functionality is amazing. The obvious things don't work for lack of libs and keys though. Camcorder, lag in graphs and just some random glitches here and there. But jb all the way.

Its been awhile since I have browsed the sgs2 forums and I stop in and notice ics is all over here. So I'm thinking of upgrading my girls s2 to 4.0 and I want opinions and stability and function of the current roms.
I'm leaning towards aokp or cm9. I have cm9 on my note and a500 so I'm fond of it obviously.
Coming from gb rooted w/ cwm full wipe and good to go I assume? I ask because in the n7k forum the leaked kernals suck and there were all these stupid methods for going from gb to ics...
Anyway thanks.

Yup full wipe. I am not running either of those ROM's so cant comment on them. I have been following Task's AOKP thread. That may be the next one I try.
If you'd like to try a Samsung based rom, give ShoStock2 a try. It's the best I've ever tried.

Ultimatum and SHOstock are excellent. AOKP is pretty sweet too.

ICS is well worth the upgrade
I've been running CM9 since the first nightly. I love it. Haven't had any issues.

I've been running aokp for a few weeks and love it so far. It has been pretty stable and fast as hell. I'm sure things are even better in the latest build, but I haven't flashed yet.
Its like when GB became available and everyone was still on Froyo- once you open the desert and have a taste, your likely not gonna go back. And now that video recording is fixed- its all gravy baby

Definitely go with AOKP, it's stable, fast, full of features, and rocks great battery life.
The only benefit of the Samsung ICS is MHL.

If MHL is a must, i think you're stuck with TW for now. My final choice was between aokp and cm9. Check the support/discussion threads, big difference...
No need for MHL I just want a stable ics rom for her because her miui rom is buggy as heck.
Thanks guys ill keep watching the dev section. For me aokp and cm9 are really similar so it just comes down to battery life and stability which is different for each person.

Aokp all the way baby, super stable and awesome battery. Way better than gb

I've been using shoshock lastest gingerbread build. it's great. I'm waiting for a while.
Running AOKP and it's running great.
Just flash Siyah's kernel and go for dual boot to check both Samsung and AOKP/CM9 roms together.
I've been running CM9 since the first nightly. I love it. My phone feels brand new and I don't feel like upgrade it, except I want LTE.
Thanks everyone. I flashed aokp for the extra settings and customization. Its been super stable so far and battery is good but will be better once it settles. Might try siyah might not???
Anyone recommend a Better modem? Have you been getting batter with gb ones or ics ones.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
I'd go with CM9 nightlies simply because it's supported by ROM Manager which makes it ridiculously easy to flash new updates, which come very fast by the way...plus it's CM9. Good luck.
Cm9 is nice I use it on my tablet and note but lacks some features I know my girl requires.

I tested the latest LD3 but decided to change back to LC5, it is faster than the old modems and seems more stable in my area. I have been running AOKP for a while and love it.
I am enjoying CM9. Lots of Entropy involvement. Good team working on it.

I highly recommend Mean ROM or SOS. I am running Mean ICS on my son's 3D and it is very stable. I use SOS ICS as my daily driver. It is Mean de-sensified. Both are very stable, and very active devs working on them to keep them updated.
If you want ics, cool rom seems pretty stock

Thanks Guys that is two great looking Roms keep suggestions coming.... And by the way i will be using this on Page Plus after I flash it so I am not sure that a ICS Rom will work due to some of the changes made......
Viper
Well try the ics anyway, it should work.
Otherwise, just use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1313878

I vote MeanROM ICS too! Awesome ROM!!

Zr3D is the way to go, ive been on this rom since release with no problems at all, and its super fast
Mean gingerbread is very stable, fast, and great battery life if you need GB instead of ICS.

Hey guys just wondering wether I should stick jb or go back to ics.
The reason I ask is because as everyone knows, the jb that HTC/sprint released was bug ridden. I know the devs have squashed most of the bugs but still.
So should I just stick with an ICS Rom and wait for the next rooted ota with all bugs fixed?
Also, what are you guys doing?
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Im personally staying on ics for now (tranquility rom.) Nothing i need from jb.
try meanbean rom its the best sense jb rom right now imo... everything works and mikey is always updating and fixing bugs...
Chocolate beans is running flawlessly for me. No bugs whatsoever and great battery life

Benny, I'm currently running MeanBean v1.5. The only issue I've run across is with Google Navigation. Other than that, everything else runs fine, at least for me

I'm sticking with MeanROM for now. I'll probably end up switching to MeanBean in the future.
I'm running super jelly and used rom cleaner to remove sense and this thing is a beast. I'm not going back to ICS.

i second that but i like to flash aleast 2-3 new roms now and then, since i been on tranguility for a minute, im willing to jump, even doe JB has nothing for me, i just like to flash:silly:
so far meanbean, superrjelly and stock/goodies are on my radar....can decide, they so good
I've been putting off upgrading to JB until many of the issues get ironed out. It's looking like MeanBean might have most of them fixed by now, but I'm just waiting to get some feedback on battery life, which some are saying gets worse once switched over to the new JB firmware. Once I get a more conclusive answer on the battery issues, I'll consider switching over to MeanBean.
I go back and forth. For me, ICS is definately snappier and better battery life than any of the stock or modified jb roms. I've tried almost all of them. Got a new Evo Lte for my wife and she did the ota to jb and it runs smoother than any jb rom I've tried on mine. Don't know if the new hboot has something to do with it or not but hers is definately smoother and has good battery life.
Hey guys I just purchased this one for my mother who is new to smart phones. I want to ask which rom is best for battery life and is stable? I searched on this forum and people were saying ICS Passion but that was a year or two ago and I saw that it is no longer supported. It was be awesome if you guys could recommend me a rom since my mom isn't much of a flash-a-holic so I don't want to flash each and every rom to test it for a day or two.
Thanks for the help.
*As compared to stock.
Since she's new to smartphones, I'd suggest a Froyo ROM. They have great battery life and simple to use interface. I can't say specifically which Froyo is better because I have JB. (Which I don't recommend for newbies.)
Well unfortunately the problem is almost every ROM is no longer coming out with new builds because they have moved on to new things. This means that they are all working on 4.2.1. Yet cm10 and hellybean are both very stable 4.1 ROMs. This is what I am running at the moment
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda app-developers app
I have a hard time believing someone actually recommended Passion.
I would go with either bionix (froyo) cm7 stable build or cm10. Don't flash a ICS ROM, you run the risk of EU bug.

Just curious. Has there been anyone whom found a method of returning to the ICS software, after sideloading the JB leak? I wish to return to .211 and use the dual boot method, if at all possible.
Because of the locked bootloader, once you upgrade to the JB kernel, you can't go back to the ICS kernel. I know there is a thread somewhere in here though about dual booting with ICS and JB by using methods to get around the kernel limitation.

Battery life is just as good on JB. I find signal not quite as good - but really, the experience is much smoother on JB.
