Going to root through CF- Root, do I have the right kernal? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I'm about to root for the FIRST time ever.. and am scared as hell.. so I decided to try CF's Root method this :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
but the kernel part has made me go all nervous.. my Kernel version is JPKH1 and to my senses I guess this is the correct kernel :
(CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KH1-v4.1-CWM4.zip) because I see there is a KH1 in there.. and only there.. so can a senior help me out here ^^"
Thank you so much for your help and time.

I humbly thank this forum <3

Mmm from the information supplied I would say yes that's the right kernel. Are you on ics 4.0.4 or 4.0.3?

No sir I'm on gingerbread 2.3.3...
is that bad?

You plan to stay on GB or you will move to ICS? If I remember correctly I have used zerg rush method when I was rooting GB for 1st time, but seems you have the correct CF-Root.

Yes because I thought it was better to stay on it because I've heard there is no flash support on ICS and number of bugs.. so I'm definitely am not going to upgrade soon..
The reason I'm rooting is to fix my EFS folder which got corrupted I have no idea how, I didn't update the phone or root, I just put it in flight mode and it never got back on again, what I've gathered so far is some stock app or app I downloaded must have corrupted it or its faulty by default what Odia told me, but unfortunately the service center here is not willing to fix my phone so I finally decided to do it on my own.. I just hope GSII repair works for me.. or I'll simply live with a generic number.. at least I'll have a working phone.. its been 4 months now NO PHONE and so much quick battery drain.

*teary eyes* Okay did everything and guess what guys I FIXED IT!!!! XD

If you in 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 , then you can use this TUT.
YOU DONT NEED TO REFLASH! Just UNROOT.
Like princenoob sayed, there is TWO options.
FIRST: REFLASH you firmware(if you in FROYO, it must).
SECOND: Use this thread HERE(if you in GB)
Just use the OPTION, what you like or what you CAN DO!

can i do so . i am now on froyo . samsung replyed me that they will release GB in end of july so i will flash it with GB firmware . so i will flash it when GB release i will upgarde it on Gb & make it unroot through flash. so will it brick my phone or not
Your english is difficult to understand.
Here is my response to your post.
It seems that you want to unroot because you want the official gingerbread release from Samsung Kies software. As far as I know, it is not necessary to unroot. When you flash you phone using Kies, root access will be removed just the same as if you flashed using odin.
If you want to remove root for some other reason, it seems that you will have to reflash using odin as you are using froyo. Gingerbread firmware can be unrooted using the methods posted above.
Hope this helps

Yes you can. You dont BRICK you PHONE, if you ALWAYS follow carefuffy the INSTRUCTION in the FLASHING tutorial. ALWAYS, I MEAN, ALWAYS read WHOLE THREAD for FLASHING and you get ALL YOU ANSWERS. In there people asking GOOD questions about flashing and OTHERS good question about everything else, what is tied up with FLASHING.
Here is GOLDEN RULE DO NOT BRICK YOUR PHONE: ALWAYS READ 10 TIMES OR EVEN MORE, BEFORE YOU START SOMETHING SERIOUS.

I FLASHED my phone like 30 times in 2 months and NEVER bricked my phone.
And now back to you question.
If you in FROYO, you must REFLASH IT, with ODIN to get it UNROOTED.(You get your ODIN files from SAMFIRMWARE. You must be REGISTERED in there, to get files)
But if you in GB(2.3.3) or 2.3.4, then you can UNROOT it just using the ZIP file from you SD card HERE in the end of post(section E).

I've followed this guy's instruction. Got root in a few minutes with just a few clicks:

easiest way
i rooted by using zedomax's method with zerglings.. you press like two buttons.
i have the i9100m, so not sure if it will work on "g"
he does say it will work on all varients
just search galaxys2root on google and he should be the first link
hope this helped! im a noob to the forum, but have been rooted for a month or so now

First, that's NOT zedomax's method. He regurgitated zergRush, which was the work of DoomLord and some other contributors - of which he was NOT one of. And I don't think he gave credit, either.
Second, I believe it doesn't work with newer releases of 2.3.6, which the OP is on.
Third, the OP already said he tried this method. (well, actually, he said "zerg". Pretty safe bet he meant this)

I figured you did, you asked a question in another thread I answered, where I told you explicitly to use G kernels.
However, I don't see any attempt on your part to "unbrick" your phone. Have you tried at all? Sometimes "bricked" phones are recoverable... How is it "bricked"? Does it boot? Can you get it into download mode if it can power on?

After i flashed kernel it wont boot but odin says PASS.. Idk why and i cant go to download.. Its a hard brick.. I already sent my phone to samsung customer care and i ask them if i can trade my g version for non g version, they gonna give my a new gt i9100 next week..

sorry, i knew that wasn't his method, i just meant he used it to root his phone. I wasnt meaning to give him ANY of the credit for it, although he does advertise it pretty well for noobs.
And i wasn't aware that it didn't work for the newer versions, i rooted not too long ago and it worked fine, but i don't think my carrier updates firmware often..
i was just letting him know my experiences

[Q] Root i9100 running Gingerbread 2.3.3 XWKF3 without pc

Is there any guide like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719

or can any1 pls provide me rooted & signed kernel for this?
Hehe. Pays to read the last two words of the title Good advice from The Underling. If you bork it, you won't be fixing it without a PC. Before you do anything to your phone, make sure it's recoverable if whatever you're doing doesn't work (have a backup, in this case have/use a PC, etc).
You shouldnt really be messing about with your phone without having pc/odin handy.
If the slightest thing goes wrong, youll lose boot and recovery.....its

Hallo world !

Today i`ve got a new galaxy s2 , white one now heh , after hardbricking the last one , one week ago...aaand ofc i cant help myself but to try and root it again. Now , i have found this site http://www.unlockroot.com/unlockroot.html and downloaded that program and everything .. the question is , is this safe to use ? No hardbrick on it ? What do you guys think ?
Ooor can someone show me a 100% safe way to do it ? I dont wanna kill another phone lol and now im kinda scared to just try anything i find D:
There are hundreds of threads about rooting your phone on xda, so why are you posting about using another method on a different site.
Maybe you could send a PM to theathiest and ask him to flash that on his phone to find out if it works/is safe. ........LOL
Maybe because i have ****ed up an sg2 before trying to install something from this site and now i want it to be 100% safe ? Anywayz , apparently im on the 4.0.3 version and that seems to be hardbrick free right ? If thats the case , that means i can root the phone using any method ?
Mate just flash syiah 4.0+ or dorimanx 5.92 via Odin and u get root or just update to jb via kies or download and flash via Odin then root u got few kernels for jb with root and jb is brick bug free kernels too good luck
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
You know what's the best way to avoid bricks?
It's starts with a "B" and it ends with "y reading the forum"
Y don't touch phone that's best way wot do u mean by that starts b finish y ? Look mate if u went avoid brick bug jut update to jb its bug free then use philz kernel its stock to root and voila u got bug free jb with root and u can sleep safe or after flash custom ROM rest info u find somewhere here

Don't repeat your mistakes again - learn to understand what you're doing before doing anything risky on you new phone. No one can prevent you from bricking it, only you can, by knowing what you're doing.

Just use a "safe" Kernel and everthings okay. But check if the Kernel is the right one for your Firmware Version...
Aight , thanks for the feedback guys , i`ll think about rooting it again , keeping in mind that the official 4.1.2 its gonna come soon and it will pawn , so i guess i wont need root and a custom rom ... maybe only for deleting those god damn stock apps.
It is almost impossible to brick your phone if you stay away from .pit files and ticking re-partition in odin.

One last question guys , im from Romania , if i use lets say , the Russian Jellybeam version will it really matter ? I mean will it be any difference between the Russian one and actually waiting for the update in my country ?
it'll work just fine, it's not about the firmware, it's about modems.
You got people from brazil flashing russian jelly bean and they do just fine.

By flashing a kernel like siyah v6 b5+ via odin.
Thanks for the answers!
Now first of all, ExynosAbuse would be perfect but does that support 4.1.2?
Also what comes to sidyah, does that support phones that are sim-locked? If so, how can i get rid of the operator sim-lock and is this risky?
And for the last: if i root my phone, can i get official updates in the future from samsung? Cause i don't wanna mess with the style that i got in my jelly bean quite like it, just want to get superuser-access.
So the app that i'm searching for is one click root that supports updates in future for 4.1.2. Is it impossible?
Thanks!
I'm with theunderling here.
I've always flashed via Odin woithout any problems and it very quick too. If you do everything right, it shouldn't take more than a minute, dead serious. 1 minute. Okay maybe more, but maximum 2 according to me
Just download tar or md5 file. Open Odin. Put the file in PDA. Then start. (and make sure Re-Partition is NOT checked)
(Im not going to give you step by step instructions cause that is for you to find out But i've actually helped you out alot
Good luck, and post for further question. Just dont forget to search before.
*EDIT* Yea, siyah is one of the best kernels, and dont worry everythin should be the same. You can get siyah kernel from gokhanmoral.com
