Anyone mind posting this file? I accidentally deleted it and cannot run HDMI mirroring without it.

Not 100% sure if this is what you're looking for...
But anyway, here is the stock MirrorService.apk and MirrorService.odex file from /system/app folder on OS 2.3.4.
Download link --> http://db.tt/IcCMNCly
Its NOT a flash able zip!! Make sure to extract it and then move both files to /system/app folder and change permissions to rw-r--r-- (0644) then at least reboot! Wipe cache and dalvik cache if possible too!

I had better be stock, because I changed mine (on purpose to a droid4's mirror.apk -- don't ask) and it went into bootloop that even the Sprint store could not fix.
And because it was a locked bootloader 2.3.5 - they couldn't fix it at all, Sprint gave me a new phone. YMMV.

I was being stupid messing around in the /system/app folder and I deleted the default clock/weather widget that comes preinstalled! Anyone know how I can get it back without me having to reflash my rom? I have the .apk and .odex files on my storage but I can't reinstall it with any apps from the market? I SHOULD HAVE MADE A BACKUP BEFOREHAND!

Buy Root Explorer from the market, copy the files back into /system/app. Change permissions back to match other files in that directory (should be rw-r-r) and restart your phone. If you are Unlocked w/ HTC, rooted, and have a custom recovery you could always flash THE EXACT SAME ROM directly over the top without wiping Data. I would still wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache to be safe, and this will revert any other changes you've made to the ROM but it should be pretty simple to do.

If you are going to mess around in the Read Only parts of the phone this is the only smart thing to do.

Hello
I am running cyanogenmod 9. I installed the touchwiz 5 launcher from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1582150. I did this for fun but now I am not using it. I am looking for way to remove it. I am not sure how because its now part of the system since I flashed it in as a zip file.
It is not a huge deal if I can't remove it but if there is a way let me know.
Thanks.
Install new launcher from play store and freeze/uninstall using
Titanium backup?

or...
Look in the zip file to see exactly what files were installed, and their paths. Then use a root file explorer to delete those files.
If they are part of a seperate flashed in cwm zip file and they get installed to /system/app then just flashing the same cm or newer nightly over top should remove it since the /system gets overwritten. At least when I add a .apk to /system/app folder and use the app. Then flash a newer nightly I loose the app from my phone until I add it back again.
Now if it installs to /data/app then you can wipe data/factory reset or just use a root explorer app and delete out the touchwiz launcher from it.

Hi All -
Flashed LSS (NEE) firmware yesterday on my S2, after this my WIFI is dead.:crying:
Tried with previous (LSN) and also re-flashed LSS but nothings working. Is this any hardware issue
Any solution for this, after selecting wifi the switch goes back to off position in seconds.
Was it working on ICS?
If yes, it's not hardware.
If no, flash jb leak.

Try to run ROM nuke script, then flash again the LSN(or ICS,or whatever ROM where it was working.)Let me know that this helped you or not.

Sorry for nobe question.
Does ROM nuke script wipes all the data on internal SD card? just like formatting from storage option?
Don't nuke it, re-flash and factory reset.
If you're rooted flash via mobile odin.

Just few minutes back re-flashed the firmware through mobile odin and had selected wipe data & cache/Dalvik cache.
I think now the only option is to clear everything?

Hum....use M.O to flash JB leak.
Everything works on JB leak.
Sent from the little guy
Ok let me try this final option. Have to search my system for leaked firmware if not need to download again.
I will get back with the updated details once this is done.
Thanks.
You can also flash....what was it...LSN? The jb ROM where wifi actually worked.

I had same wifi issue after upgrade from official stock ICS to official stock JB. Home wifi was dead after upgrade. On ICS wifi worked. So I read tens of similar issue threads, not only i9100 related. I tried to change every simple option on my router, reboots, wipes .... And finaly someone (HTC owner I guess) mention that replace binary files in /system/etc/wifi/*.bin from older 4.1.1 helped him.
Before upgrade, I had Supernexus ROM as secondary, and there were no wifi issue.
So solution which helped me is simple extract /system/etc/wifi/*.bin binaries from my previous supernexus nandroid backup and replace related files on updated stock JB. It was also necessary to rename them ie bcm_mfg.bin(supernexus) to bcmdhd_mfg.bin(stock) and so on. And everything works now!
Not simple, bit dangerous but helped me.
PS: don't forget backup!

My friend S2 running on CM 10.1. If i copy and replace bin files from his mobile will thats gonna work?since i do not have any backup from old firmware
And also do i need to delete old files and then paste or override the old files? sorry for too many questions.
keep gsterac
CM10.1 is JB4.1 AOSP based ROM similar as supernexus, perhaps it should work. BTW yours friend phone can connect to your wifi? If not, its useless.
I have no idea about your linux/android experience. Most of work I made through adb shell. If you are familiar with it you probably known what to do. If not, I recommend to read some threads about android filesystem, file permissions, adb... If you are courageous you can technically to use for example ES File explorer for all changes.
But again IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE DOING IT IS HIGH POSSIBILITY OF SERIOUS DAMAGE OF YOUR PHONE!!
I thing following steps should work fully from GUI. But I didn't tried it this way.
- !!!1st make backup of original files!!!! In ES File Explorer copy original files somewhere at least to sdcard(external one better).
Also please note original files owner, group and file permissions:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 183072 May 29 21:46 bcmdhd_apsta.bin
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 202480 May 29 21:46 bcmdhd_mfg.bin
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 204186 May 29 21:46 bcmdhd_p2p.bin
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 196765 May 29 21:46 bcmdhd_sta.bin
It is very important to preserve this attributes. For example if you are going to copy files to your phone through sdcard, the permissions will be changed. It is necessary to change them back as above.
- turn off wifi. I also used airplane mode just in case...
- in ES File Explorer push Menu->Tools->Root Explorer->Mount R/W-> /system select RW
- delete old binary files.
- copy the new ones and rename them if necessary
- set file permissions through ES FIle Explorer - long press the file->(more)Properties->Change -> Make sure only all read checkboxess are selected and only the first one(User) Write permissions is selected. Repeat it for all 4 changed files.
- - in ES File Explorer push Menu->Tools->Root Explorer->Mount R/W-> /system select RO
-check the wifi, if it works reboot just in case. If not......I have no idea.
And also it has one impact I noticed. OTA updates doesn't work anymore.

I did a factory reset on my phone yesterday and decided to really clear out a bunch of stuff with titanium that I never use, including widgets. I deleted the stock clock app thinking it was a widget. Does anyone know where I can find that? I'm open to a different app but I'm quite happy with the stock JB clock app.
Thanks!
Did you try doing a reset again?
tell your version and Rom so someone can upload it for you
i717, 4.1.2, stock and rooted
I haven't tried that because some of the bloat I deleted previously (Yahoo, some other stuff) was gone this reset.
also there are 2 other ways to get it back
flash stock Rom and you will lose root
flash custom Rom
also next time i suggest doing a backup via CWM

Factory reset won't replace any deleted files. All it does is delete user data and downloaded apps, and makes all settings to default.
Flashing the same rom on top of your rom will replace missing files and put back all the apps you deleted.
I suggest you use Titanium to freeze any unwanted things, then run a few days like that, then eventually delete the frozen apps.
I am on Telus and when I want to revert back to stock with all the bloat (well not quite all the bloat) I simply flash the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2268617
[ROM][Modems] Custom Canadian Jelly Bean - Rooted & Deodexed. A similar thread exists for ATT. Then I restore additional apps via titanium backup or my apps in play store.

here is stock clock.apk and odex file. https://www.dropbox.com/s/8psbgzybq5y3ze0/ClockPackage.apk ___ https://www.dropbox.com/s/0c0u7eoyyph22c3/ClockPackage.odex. download and move to system/app and make sure permisions are set properly then reboot. if you are running a stock deodexed rom you will need to remove clock package from that rom instead.
Thanks guys!
The dropbox clock downloads but doesn't install. Permissions are correct.
did you try installing like normal apk or did you place in system/app? should place in system/app. both clock.apk and odex.apk
Like normal? I'm afraid I don't know how to do the second one.
using a file manager that has root access(i use root exploerer but there are lots) move the apks that you downloaded into system/app folder. then long press the file until you get menu to come up and select set permissions. should be rw-r--r--. change if not. then reboot.
HI im accidentally delete bluid.prop file from system folder

Well I was trying to edit something there with root explorer and then I have two files with that name but one says .bak and I delete the one that doesn't says .bak and only have one know.
After I do it I try to open the one I left and it doesn't open. Them I realize I did a really stupid thing. I search and nobody is talking about it on this forum. The ones who talk about it was an old phones.
My phone is working cuz I didn't shut it down but I know that when I reboot it I will be **** up.
Pliz anybody knows what to do?
The only idea that I have is to do a factory reset may be it reinstall it or something. But I prefer to ask first here to see if one of you (the prooos) know something not like me an idiot who make a big mistake.
I'm sorry
Thanks in advance

I still have the file build.prop.bak
It wasn't opening but I select the option open with and select text viewer and it open and it was like the build.prop file
So I rename the file build.prop.bak to build.prop and I think now its ok I guess but I'm still worried
Did I solve my problem or not?
I'm scared to reboot it

You should be fine. Worst case scenario just reflash the ROM without wiping data and it will restore the whole system partition including the build.prop. just make sure you always have a copy of the ROM you are currently running on your SD card.

Or what I did of rename the file solve the problem?

Renaming the backup file to build.prop should be fine. Check the permissions it should be rw-r--r. If all is good you should be fine to reboot/shutdown. LGNPST can always recover your phone as long as it can at least be turned on. Like I said you should be fine but there is always options.

The remaining 1 is build.prop.bak? If yes then just remove the .bak, and you can open it now with texteditor, check permission make sure it is RW-R--R--, owner is root, then you should be good.
