Mods. Please delete as I've found this to be a known issue with htc and Skype. I am running nils latest sense 3.6 Rom, 5.7 I believe. I went to use skype today and found my phone sends the video in green to other devices. I've cleared cache and reinstalled Skype on my phone and my iPad and my wifes phone. In the camera app both camera views are fine. Both show up fine in the mirror window in Skype but any receiving device shows up.green. Any thoughts on why this might be.

Since I've gotten my thunderbolt I haven't been able to successfully video chat using any applications. And I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem or if it was just me

I'm using Qik on CM7.
The only issue it has is the fact that the other party sees me upside down.
Thanks for the response im guessing that means the problem is with all thunderbolts

The leaked version of Skype worked alright on mine
Tango works ok with crappy quality with iBoners and an atrix

has anybody used the new fring group chat or qik app? how are those working?
The leaked Skype works great, sound is alot better than Tango. Also the Skype works with Bluetooth which I could never get with Tango. I just can't get it to work on CM7, but I just got gTalk to work on CM7. Haven't been able to test it out but it installs and says I'm avaliable for audio and video chat. Ill update once I get home and check tho.
(Edit-- well gTalk looked good, but it was force-close city and no video. Tried clearing cache and fix permissions, but still no go. Back to Dad BAMF and Skype video for now, I guess.)

You know there was also a similar problem worth the xoom. You may want to look at how they got gtalk to work.
Yep, the leaked Skype is probably one of the best options at the moment, until we get Google's upcoming video chat, at least.
Yahoo messenger is where its at

I didnt think the leaked version of Skype was secure.
In this article on Droid-Life, it specifically states: "NO, the leaked Skype with video has not been fixed."
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/04/2...y-vulnerabilities-fixed-3g-calling-tossed-in/
So, is it safe to be using the leaked version?

its fine as long as you dont go downloading malicious apps from the internet. be smart and youll be ok.
I'm going away for a month and would like to video chat with my wife and baby via my Thunderbolt to her laptop.
I have the Tango app installed, but there is no version that is available for a computer. We all know Skype doesn't support video on our Thunderbolts...yet.
What can I use? Am I missing something?
There is a leaked version of Skype that works well on froyo. Qik is also decent. I also have used oovoo and its quite good on my thunderbolt.

This option only works if your run cm7.. a froyo tb will not work at all and gb(sense) tb's video is sideways. Gtalk still needs a lot of improvement.

Has anyone had issue with Yahoo IM ? I can't seem to get it to use front facing camera on video chat. This first happen with EVO, but then they fixed in next version.
Anyone?

I have the same problem. Tried to change it while in Messenger then tried to change it to front camera in the camcorder app and then go the Messenger. Still didn't work.
Have you tried Skype? I cant get that to work at all.

The front facing camera is gone from YM in gingerbread. It worked on our evos before gb update. On my old evo, I got it to work from using this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1087769
Just updated the youtube app to 2.2.14:
-uploading over wifi is still broken for a decent length of video, e.g. 1min/88MB. The upload goes for a while, stops, times out, retries, rinse repeat and then fails.
- cannot play videos. A video will play for 3-5 seconds, freeze, act like it's buffering, and then just stop.
Anyone else get this behavior? I'm on 2.3.4 stock, rooted.
Yes same thing has been happening to me. It started yesterday. No videos load at all. I'm on cyanogenmod though. The prebeta

That's the one thing I miss about the iPhone. Yeah, the Youtube app stinks on the iPhone also, but at least you can watch YT videos on the default web browser and *never* have any problems such as buffering.
When I try to watch YT videos on the Android's web browser(s), I get a message that says "Sorry, can't play this video". WTF!
Same here in gobstopper bell...YouTube plays a few seconds then buffers forever

I have the same problem with the latest version as well. Sometimes hang and sometimes causes the phone to hard reboot. I found an older version of youtube that you can sideload.

You should be able to uninstall the update, that's what I did. I was just wondering if anyone else was experiencing similar problems. Seems like it .

I installed skype from market on the stock rom and had Video calls. SO far so good.
The same skype backup in moded rom (King Cobra / Leeroid) and I only have voice calls.
I tried downloading and installing again from market buit no joy, no video calls.
It seems skype mabe can't access the front camera in moded roms.
KingCobra and Leeroid both have the Amaze Camera app instead of the standard camera, could this be the problem?
Does anybody have any clues?
If you go into the settings in the Skype app there is a checkbox to enable video calls

none, nothing of the sort because skype doesnt recognise the front camera...I#m sure its because the standard camera app has been replaced with Amaze

I don't see any reason for a ROM to replace the Stock Camera app. It's so good.
