[Q] Whatsapp delayed messages - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I've a problem while using my whatsaap.
I get the incoming messages only when I open the application, and not in the background,
even sync is on and everything seems to be ok.
I tried to read in the whatsapp faq but it didn't help me.
How can i fix it?
Thanks.

Give me your ROM details.
But before your next post, try the following steps:
- update you whatsapp to latest version
- If problem it's still present, boot to recovery and wipe cache partition.
- If you have root access, you cash also wipe dalvik cache.
- reboot your device and observe if the problem still persists

Try these steps.
- backup your whatsapp chat history
-uninstall whatsapp
-reboot your device
-reinstall whatsapp
-reboot to recovery
-fix permissions (under Advanced)
-reboot device
- open whatsapp (goto OPTIONS - SETTINGS - HELP - SYSTEM STATUS) to confirm if whatsapp is working properly.
Test now if it's working properly.
If it's still not working properly, then you might have to visit your ROM thread and ask if other people are facing similar problem

Lost Bluetooth autostart with Super Nexus ROM

Hi,
I am running the Super Nexus ROM on my Galaxy S2 for about two weeks now and was having zero issues. For my car kit I installed rSAP App and an updated Bluetooth.apk (for Phone Book Access Profile) also available from that site. Everything was fine until a few days ago when suddenly the "Bluetooth Sharing" service did not start automatically anymore when I boot the phone. As a result I cannot transfer the phone book to my car kit. I have to turn BT off and on again to get it started. I uninstalled the updated Bluetooth.apk but no change. Any ideas? How can I restore autostart for bluetooth.apk? Thanks!!

Did you freeze/uninstall anything related to Bluetooth/share in titanium backup? If your answer is NO, then try this:
-boot to recovery
-wipe cache partition
-wipe dalvik cache
-fix permissions
-reboot phone

Thanks, I did as you suggested but issue remains. And no I did not do anything in Titanium.

have you restored the "updated Bluetooth.apk"?
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII
The Bluetooth.apk comes with an Installer app, I used this app to uninstall (this restores the original Bluetooth.apk) and reinstall. Both actions did not change anything. The steps that you suggested above were performed after restoring the original Bluetooth.apk. I think the first time Bluetooth did not startup automatically was after I installed the DUN modem plugin for the rSAP app (see rSAP forum) a few days ago. But not sure. I already uninstalled the plugin before I started this thread, obviously didn't help. Thanks again!
Try reflashing the rom with no data wipe (but wipe cache, dalvic cache)
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Thanks for all the helpful replies. I'll wait for the next build of Nexus ROM and flash this one.

Maybe they got duplicated in the ringtone folder? You could try using an app like Rings Extended to browse for others.
goto applications.media storage and clear data then reboot and it clears all duplicates .i also had duplicate pics to
Check your internal SDCard for duplicates and also check /system/media/audio/ folder.

[Q] Whatsapp Stuck on Initializing after Crash and Reinstall

So I had some sort of crash on my HTC Sensation where the phone rebooted, and all my whatsapp messages were gone. Whatsapp automatically backs up your messages every 24 hours, so I reinstalled to enable the backup.
1. After installation, when inputting information (after restoring your messages) and getting into profile info, I am stuck on an "Initializing: Please wait a moment..." box
2. This goes on forever
3. I have force closed, cleared cash, cleared data and tried again with no luck
4. I have uninstalled and reinstalled (and reboot the phone) with no luck
5. I have uninstalled and installed the latest version from the whatsapp website (which has a different file size than the play store one) with no luck
6. I have redone this WITHOUT recovering my messages with no luck (even deleting the back up messages folder)
7. I can actually receive notifications from whatsapp, showing messages from groups / people, though clicking it takes me back to "Initializing"
8. Sometimes I get an "android.process.acore is not responding. Would you like to tell HTC?". This may be a separate issue as it still continues to "Initialize" no matter what I press
I can see 28 messages from notifications, some which are very important and urgent. Hopefully someone can help
Edit: I am using an unrooted HTC Sensation with ICS
Thanks
Update: Tried reinstalling using safe mode. Same problem happens, though instead of being stuck on initialization, Whatsapp force closes and stops working after about 2 minutes

Did the steps, but still stuck at initializing.
If your phone is rooted, try clearing dalvik cache. Other than that, I fear the only thing that you could possibly do is wait for an update.
I'm currently having (had) the same issue. I reinstalled a couple of times and suddenly it started working. I wonder if it was a problem on WhatsApp's end, because I didn't do a thing - suddenly everything was fine.

Did this:
- Uninstalled already downloaded version from Market on the cell phone.
- Downloaded Whatsapp from my pc, from their official website
- Transferred the APK to the cell phone, installed it.
- Left it a bit (a minute) at "initializing". Worked.
got it solved...
i was having problem with cm7.1.5 so installed cm7.2...
on 1st start of whatsaap it gave me msg about having custom rom can create problem as it does not support whats app..
then also i proceeded n i was facing same problem.it was stuck on initializing.
then after lots of different tries it worked on one trick...
what i did was :
1.1st backup all my contacts(mobile).
2.then cleared data in contact storage in manage apps.
3.installed whatsapp 2.8 which was backup earlier
4.clicked "Agree and continue" then entered my mobile no. but,it told me that whatsapp new version must be installed.
5.i then upgraded whats app from play store.
6.After installation was complete i opened it and it was started from same step of application of entering mobile no.
7. i entered no. , restored data from old backup of whatssapp, all messages were restored.
now my Display Picture , Name got appeared.
8.clicked next, shortcut of whatsapp was created. in 1 sec it got initialized, n continue button got appeared.
9. now i was having messages but no contacts(whatsapp).
10. now i restored contacts(mobile) from softwere i was using. and now after opening whatsapp m having contacts.
It worked on my phone... try it... best of luck...

Been getting this error since this morning. Reinstalled whatsapp. Still didn't work. Then I reflashed my ROM completely. Still having this error. Any ideas? Getting android.process.acore has stopped as soon as I open Whatsapp.
Running the Revolutionary S5 mod on my S3.
same problem
I'm having the same problem. As soon as I open whatsapp it gets stuck for a bit in the initializing screen, then crashes and shows "android.acore.process has stopped". This happens in the XRom, Smartdroid rom and S5 revolutionary rom for s3. Any fix for this? :/

I had the same problem with Revolutionary S5 V3
what did the trick for me was installing an older version which i downloaded somewhere(but not too old cause whatsapp wont accept it) and use it to activate and initialize. Then i updated through google play and everthing seems fine.
As for the android.process.acore follow these steps:
First of all switch off the internet
- tap on setting and navigate to applications
- tap on all options and search for "google services framework" from the list
- tap on it and hit force stop to forcibly stop the application
- now hit force stop for the following apps
-> contacts
-> gmail
-> facebook
-> whatsapp
- reboot your system.
Cheers
WhatsApp slow initializing due to contacts problem. Confirm!

if this problem persists and u need whatsapp do as following:
1- install whatsapp version 2.8 and enter ur cell number..of course it will fail to initialize
2- don't delete whatsapp just replace it with the newer version
this will give u access to chats but you'll have no contacts so they have to talk to you first
it's a half solution but better than nothing
P.S: 2.8 is available on any file sharing websites just google it
Have you tried clearing cache for the app?

[Q] My S3 freezes when syncing

Hi all, I have a real strange problem I cannot underststand.
Since two or three days, my S3 has been freezing every few minutes.
I restored factory settings and installed latest italian original firmware without root or anything.
I powered it up and, after having logged in to Google during the initial setup, my Phone freezes.
I thought it was a hardware problem, but, after trying and trying, I discovered that if I toggle off Syncing, everything works fine.
Any idea?
I am going to try a custom rom, because I cannot really understand the problem.
My stock is: I9300XXEMA2_I9300ITVEMA1_ITV

well try to deactivate only Picasa and see, maybe it tries to sync all pictures and you got too many to bear?

Try clearing Google services framework data, and all Google app data, or remove Google account and wipe cache/dalvik then add account again

I've got the exact problem, but since I turned sync off (by the pulling-down menu) my SGS3 has managed to stay on for an hour without freezing. The very minute I turn sync on, it freezes again, and it does'nt matter what I'm doing at that moment, if I'm browsing the internet och just flipping around in the settings or using the Play store.
Samsung says they havn't heard of this before..
Have you tried the custom ROM?
Here is how solved.
I added the google account. I pressed "cancel" while it was syncing.
Then I deactivated Sync with Picasa and Google+ Photo.
Moreover I clicked "Settings -> Apps -> All Apps -> Gallery -> Clear Data".
In my gallery, now, I only see Camera Photos... everything is working fine.
Let me know if it works for you.
P.S. Custom ROMS I tried did not have this problem.
