[TOOL] Bootloader unlock tool - RAZR not supported for now - Motorola Droid RAZR

I just found this announce from Motorola:
http://motorola.com/unlockbootloader
I didn't have the chance to try it, but it will be really exciting if it works on our RAZR!! That would mean a whole new world of custom ROMs!

I read it on Droid Life, actually there's a guide. https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a

Motor must have taken it down. All I get is a 404 error.
Did you download the tool?

I found the answerr....
HOW DO I TELL IF MY DEVICE HAS AN UNLOCKABLE/RE-LOCKABLE BOOTLOADER?
This depends on a few factors. First is whether the device ships with a bootloader that is capable of being unlocked or re-locked. Second is whether the wireless carrier that sells the device allows the bootloader to be unlocked, as each of our operator partners has their own policy. As new devices are released, please check the bootloader introduction page. You will be able to check whether your device shipped with an unlockable bootloader. We will be adding devices to this list regularly.
As of August 2012, the only Motorola devices which can be unlocked are:
Photon Q 4G LTE (Sprint)
RAZR Developer Edition (Europe Only)
XOOM Tablets

These are the steps listed in the page:
1. Put your device in fastboot mode (Power+Vol Down) and connect over USB
2. Open a command prompt or Terminal session
3. Go to the Directory where you installed the Android SDK tools, and type:
$ fastboot.exe oem get_unlock_data
This fastboot command will return a character string. This is the Device ID which you will be using to generate your unique unlock key.
$ fastboot oem get_unlock_data
(bootloader) 0A40040192024205#4C4D3556313230
(bootloader) 30373731363031303332323239#BD00
(bootloader) 8A672BA4746C2CE02328A2AC0C39F95
(bootloader) 1A3E5#1F53280002000000000000000
(bootloader) 0000000
OKAY
[0.297s]
4. To generate your unlock code, you’ll need to paste together the 5 lines of output into one contnuous string without "(bootloader)" or white spaces.. Using the example above, the line you’d send us would be:
0A40040192024205#4C4D355631323030373731363031303332323239#BD008A672BA4746C2CE02328A2AC0C39F951A3E5#1F532800020000000000000000000000
If you can get the code it's necessary to put it in for present in the webpage.

Dev builds bootloaders are unlocked but there not released to the public when the builds are released to the public they have locked bootloaders well someone leaked the dev build with an unlocked boot
This makes me a sad panda..... haha. Well, hopefully P3droid has a rooted GB patch. I read a post somewhere saying he has the update and could possibly be looking for testers tomorrow.
P3Droid's twitter account says that he is already looking for people to test his patched update for DX2.
https://twitter.com/#!/P3Droid
I just told him I'd test it, hopefully it works
It works, just flashed it.

See all those phones listed? Guess what? They all have locked bootloaders! You don't have to have an unlocked bootloader to have a bootstrap!
What this means is if you hose your phone you'll be able to get to the bootstrap for recovery. With the hacked version we have now there is no key combination to get into the bootstrap.
Mike
What I see in the screenshot says RAZR... so does it mean the GSM model?
It it's true, it's a good news for all European and Asian users!

Atrix got the bootloader unlocked so there is still hope
If noobs on the Atrix would follow installation instructions properly we would have an unlock bl for the razr and other motorola phones however.
When noobs dont follow instructions, it increases costs for motorola because they have to pay for customer service and so on

Has anyone actually selected the RAZR? I did, and it is just a confirmation that you have installed Cwm, it doesn't actually flash anything. Just letting you all know, and there are no roms to install.

I wouldn't get too excited about this. The X2 has been in that list for months and still isn't supported. Perhaps support will come for the Razr but like I said........
Why is CWM not supported for RAZR?

It will not work. It's most likely for the Photon Q and future devices.
This article says that there are currently no supported devices and that there is a "supported device" list but its not working right now. The site just went up so its probably not "active" yet. Not saying we have a chance or anything.
http://androidcommunity.com/motorol...live-finally-can-unlock-bootloaders-20120817/
according to the blogs the site is not fully functional either at the moment as many who are trying to register come up with an error, but I'm with DZK on this one - more than likely not to work for us.

Enter your continuous string into the "Request Your Unlock Key" section below.
I'm not sure you guys understand. The entire process will require a whole new bootloader to work. We first off don't have the unlock functionally implemented; let alone the "get_unlock_data" variable or whatever it is. The latter is for *new* devices only. Motorola will not write a new bootloader for the X2. And according to my sources, Motorola , the media, and just plain intuition, they've stop development on this phone completely. It sucks to hear it and sucks to say, but it's true.

Not only is modifying the boooader impossible without the source code, but it must be signed by Motorola. Something that is not possible to do. If it was, we would have done it ages ago.

[Q] Why bootloader can not be unlocked like Kindle ?

In razr there is OMAP 4430
in KINDLE there is OMAP 4430
http://omappedia.org/wiki/Bootloader_Project
Why not to use unlocked bootloader from kindle, u-boot.bin ?
http://omappedia.org/wiki/Bootloader_Project said:
SD Card Boot
In the case of loading the u-boot via the SD card, the SD card x-loader looks for a FAT32 partition on the first MMC controller and scans the top level directory for a file named "u-boot.bin". It then transfers the file into main memory and transfers control to it.

Use the search engine and look for the thread where unlocking our bootloader is attempted, as long as I remember there was some kind of hardware issue against it and that the omap 4430 chipset in our razr is locked down to take only signed bootloader, which is heavily encrypted by moto.
Even the devs were surprised of what they found when they tore down the chipset (quite different even when compared to the XT910 development edition which comes with unlocked bootloader), whirleyes is very skilled and if he really thought that it worths the risk to try he would have already done, as he said is more possible to kill the phone that way than any other result.

Technical explanation here of the hardware-locked bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21280773&postcount=32
Sadly same chipset doesn´t always mean same hardware configuration.
Ok, but i still dont understand what locked bootloader have to do with loading custom complied omap loader, u-boot.bin ?
http://omappedia.org/wiki/Bootloader_Project
Even if there are some eFuses or reverse Efuses, one time programmable inside this chip, and even if this bootloader can not be decrypted and unlocked, is it possible to unbrick this phone in the way described here to repair phone bricked by this portugese guy ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34488311&postcount=10
If unlocking bootloader is not an option, is unbricking this phone an option ?
Motorola made fake advertisements and news on the net about the bootloader being unlockable where there're no operator obligations but they never offered bootloader unlocking option to any of us. I believe it is never too late, still expecting a bootloader unlock magic happening to this strong and classy device. It would be a killer with a longer life.

Unlocking bootloader error

Hello, I have been trying to unlock the bootloader on my Z2 for a couple of hours now with no luck. I am stuck. This is what I get when I input my unlock code.
C:\fastboot>fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xMYKEYGOTFROMSONY
...
FAILED (remote: Command did not succeed)
finished. total time: 0.021sWhat could be wrong? Is there anyway to get more debug information to see why it's failing?
I have verified that ADB is turned on, plus the pc reads the phone when I use fastboot, I even tried using flashtool and get stuck in the same place, with the same error. any suggestions?
Have you checked if you got unlockable bootloader?

You have wrong unlocking code. Check carefully the codes(it's case sensitive so follow it how it is written), check if your phone is allowed to unlock bootloader (*#*#7378423#*#*) if not, then there is no way

Bootloader unlock is allowed. This is driving me mad. Even tried a different laptop. Manually typed the code.....adb, fastboot, commands all work

Just to clarify... You are actually typing in your key when typing in the command?
Like, replacing the "MYKEYGOTFROMSONY" part of "C:\fastboot>fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xMYKEYGOTFROMSONY" with your key?
Also ensure you are not mixing 0 with O. There are diff. Btw, copy and past the codes only. No manual typing. Let's see.
Then it is only in your code, try to request another code, make sure your imei is correct
