Any way to determine which number incoming call is from? - Motorola Droid RAZR

I have a Google Voice number associated with my phone that I use in addition to my cell number. On an incoming call there is no way to tell which number the person called. Is there an app or something that will tell me which phone number the call is for?

I believe Google voice can set a separate ringer.

[Q] Gv and carrier dialing from same interface?

I am thinking of getting an Atrix, but it is a must that I am able to access my contacts, then dial a number using either gv or carrier. With my iPhone there is an extension app to the stock dialer that throws up a dialog after you click dial that asks if you want to dial from carrier or gv. Similar functionality with the stock SMS app. You can select to send SMS through carrier or gv, and you can also tag SMS coming from gv with a tag so you know what number the incoming SMS came from.
Being pretty android dumb at this point, I'm asking if I can do this or similar on the atrix?
Thanks!
yes.
you have to set it up through GV to ask whether to use GV as default, not at all, or ask every time.
then, when clicking a number to dial, it'll kick in depending on what you have it set up as.

How to change phone number in Settings -> About Phone -> Status?

Is it possible to change the phone number in Menu -> Settings -> About Phone -> Status on the i777?
I want to change it to my Google Voice number so that will show up as my caller ID on outgoing calls. I've read various threads about doing it on the iPhone and on certain other Android phones (apparently some have a Settings -> Call Settings -> Additional Settings -> My Phone Number, but the i777 does not).
Any ideas? I guess I could always borrow someone's phone that has this capability, but would be nice if I could do it from the i777...
Thanks!
You can't change that since that's the number on your SIM card. Just go to the Google Voice program and set it to be used for ALL outgoing calls. Still will show your number in the status, but any calls you make will come from your Google Voice number and then show up on the Caller ID as said number.
Possibly on CM7
If you are rooted and running custom ROMs, you may be able to do this on CM7. I have not run CM7 on my SGS2 yet, but what you are asking for is possible on my HTC Aria on CM7 nightlies. However, as the previous poster noted, if you are using GV for outgoing calls, depending on your GV setup the called party will see your GV number on their caller ID.
naturefreak85 is right. Intall Google Voice app and in GV settings, you get to set which phone number to report as your caller ID.

Just tried this out. When I make the outgoing call, Google Voice pops up for a second, then it switches to the normal call status screen and for about 2 seconds a box pops up saying "making call with google voice."
So it is working. But my question is this: Is it making these calls over my data network as google voice typically does, thereby using up my data, OR is it making the call over the voice network, thereby using my MINUTES?
Thanks.
Google Voice on phones are never called via data connection. It is forwarded to a local phone number to call out. Ppl are hacking it (via some 3rd party app) in order to make Voice calls over IP network (e.g. wifi).

I'd be interested in how to accomplish this ... would come in handy when out of the country on a data-only SIM.
I believe the app is called Groove IP. It uses GV's web service to make and receive calls. No Google Voice app needed. You need to properly configure the your Google Voice web page in order for it to work. Ppl are actually using it on wi-fi only Galaxy tab for phone calls.

Wow, you are fantastic! I just got back from Asia and it drove me nuts not being able to use google voice there, and I'd looked and not found this, so now that I just downloaded (tried it over wifi only), it's fantastico!
Thanks so much! GREAT recommendation...

Yep. I have it, and it does work. I have not configured it for inbound calls, but it doesn't require configuration for outbound. Voice quality is not great but is usable.

Is there a guide for configuring inbound calls?

Yes, I don't recall off the top of my head if it is on the website of the app, or in the market description, or in the app itself. It involves directing the call through gTalk on the web iirc. Sorry don't have quick access to dig up a link for you at the moment.

[Q] Is there an APP to receive a call and play an MP3??

Just getting some 800 numbers call me and most are telemarketers. Just wondering if there is an app that will answer the call and play an MP3? I've heard if the automayed dialer hears a recording that the number is not in service, they automatically remove you from their list of phone numbers.
Thanks
Most of telemarketers use unlisted numbers to call you. Strange that those who calls you don't...
You could just use a call blocker. They'll still call, but I believe that most have a setting to automatically answer and hangup so they can't reach your voicemail.
I don't use one, but I hear the Root Call Blocker is good.

Just refuse unlisted numbers
The rom I'm using has a black list in call settings. Won't let calls through from numbers on list. You should check if yours does.

Google voice dialing weirdness

Anybody else having weird problems when dialing through Google voice, it shows as dialing some weird number instead of actual recepient number, it connects fine though but both while dialing and in call log it shows as some random number.
Mine does the same thing. When I call it shows some weird number in the voice notification. But connects to the number i called.
Only difference is mine shows shows the right number while in the call and in the call log.

Google Voice has always done this for me on my Droid X. On the DX it would be a white popup over the dialer saying it was connecting to some odd number. Sometimes it would be the same number in succession but it seems to change every now and again. It was never in the same area code as my VZW number.
Honestly, I don't know if I've made an out going call on my S3 yet! My GV number rings through to my office phone, the S3, and Google Talk/sipdroid (for IP phone goodness on the retired DX).
I have noticed that I've been able to txt someone from GV and the conversation picks up in the stock messaging app. I'm on VZW and this was NOT the case with the DX. It wouldn't pick up a reply to GV txt in stock messaging. I don't know about initiating the msg from the stock app though. I'll have to test that.

You know I'm not sure what my old Inc does. I'll have to see if it has that weird number as well.
And as for receiving them in the stock messaging app as opposed to the voice app there is a setting in the voice app under "sync and notification" to change between the two. I've never used it through the stock messaging app so have no idea about it.

I read somewhere that it has something to do with (at least in ATTs case) that they don't include the gvoice api. Might be the same for Verizon.
Hopefully some talented dev. will be able to make a simple CWM fix for this annoying problem.

GoogleVoice and Tmo SGS3

Anyone know why GV won't work on my SGS3 without having data on whereas it works on my MT4G that has no data plan whatsoever?

if you're using GV to make calls, does the GV bridge number appear in your call history? or is it the person/contact/number you dialed? i'm on at&t and when i use GV to make calls, the bridge number appears in the call history. TIA for responding to my question.

I'm using T-999 with GV.
When I dial using GV, the call history is showing the bridge number. Not the number I dialed.
And oh, obviously I don't have any problem with my GV as well.
When I use GrooveIP with GV, then it's showing the actual number I dial.
@cortez.i --- the bridge # appears on the call log
Thanks for your replies. I tried GV with an AOKP and CM10 ROM and the number dialed shows in the call history/ log.

Mine shows the bridge number also but I think my question has been misread....I want to know why I can't make calls out with GV if data isn't on. My mytouch4g does it with no prob.
