Forgot Pin Need Help - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I forgot my pin. I'm sure i'm entering the right code but still not working. I tried these options:
1.entering the supposedly wrong pin many times, and hoping it would ask me to sign in with my gmail/google credentials. But it never did.
2.Lock screen byppass pro says: not compatible with device from Google play store.
Are there any options left, have important files on the phone.
Thanks

NAndroid backup
Cwm wipe data
Either try restore data only or manually search nandroid backup for your important files
Good practice is to keep important files on an sd card rather than internal

I really need the data. And dont really want to root the S3.

Wipe cache and dalvik might work.

So you want/need these files, you can't get to the recovery screen but you don't want to take the other steps to get your data..

It's not that bad, just do some reading beforehand. There's even a tool that will do it for you. The Q/A forum is also very inviting I may add

Used samsung dive and I'm not up and running.

Why don't you just connect your phone to the computer with usb and transfer the files on to your pc? Or will it not connect with pin lock on?

It's smarter than that. If you connect in USB with the screen locked securely, it doesn't activate until you unlock it at least once.
OP, is it definitely the phone PIN as opposed to the SIM PIN? Cause there's no reason it shouldn't prompt you to override the phone pin with your Google account info

call your phone from another one and answer it. Once you answer hit the menu button and go to settings and quickly add another email account...Yahoo, hotmail, whatever. Can't hang up until done and have to be connected to Wi-Fi. Once it's stored in accounts you can hang up. go to lockscreen and enter that account as user and/or password. Any account you have stored to phone password will work.

Ok. Here's what I found.
In other words I unlocked it using Samsung Dive.
For some reason it locked and didnt accept my pin.
1.if possible dont use pin because for some reason it simply wont give you the option of forgotten and unlock with your google account.
2.If locked with pin you cant access files via pc.
3.so activate samsung asap and stay away from pin. Maybe this is a bug?

How to reset password on S2?

I forgot the password, so how can I reset it? I cant get to the menu
I reflashed the phone, but no success
I used the jig, which reseted the number of customs reflash to zero, but also no success
Wasn't there an option to reviver Forgot Password? Then it should ask for your email address and sent it to your email id, don't forget to turn on Wifi or Packet Data before doing.
Regards.

Just fill it up with wrong passwords.

Password? Pincode? The 4-digit number? It's stored on your SIM card. You can't bypass it. You need to enter false ones a couple of times, then use your PUK code to recover. That's how it works over here at least..

What do these privacy settings do?

In the settings > privacy tab there are these options :
Backup my data
Automatic restore
What exactly do these do? Does keeping them activated use more battery and processing power? Is it recommended to uncheck them?

First copies all your app's data to Google servers on every sync.
Second restores (copy back from servers to your phone) that data when you reinstall your apps after a factory reset.

What kind of data? I don't have anything critically important on my phone. Maybe passwords on websites and that's it. Is that part of the data it backs up?
Is it important to have this on?

Contacts, wifi passwords and such. I turn it on when I add a new contact etc just to double make sure it gets backed up.
Other than that I permanently leave both options off.

Sim contacts deleted

Does performing a factory reset through recovery (to flash a rom) delete my sim contacts? I'm checking my phone after just installing ics and none of my contacts are there... Apparently Google didn't back up any contacts

Couldnt tell ya really, but i dont think it will touch your Sim. make sure you have Sim contacts checked to display, then go and copy all them over to your phone, as long as AutoSync is set for contacts. they will be backed up.
No it doesn't erase your sim contacts.

SIM is completely separate... I coulda told ya that and im no androidian genius like some of these folks! Think of it as a completely separate partition, or better yet, a secondary hard drive.
And if you're really worried about it, remove SIM before doing a reset

Sounds like someone has sim contacts and phone contacts confused.
Sim isnt touched at all by factory resets. Phone contacts do get wiped. Always verify they are synced with google.

It doesn't erase your contacts on the SIM.
MotoMudder already gives you a solid answer as well as a suggestion.
Once your contacts are synced one they don't just disappear unless you did something on your end. and keep in mind when U flash a new ROM obviously you have to add your google account again.

Bypass activation?

Anyone know how to bypass the activation screen? I'm trying to root and unlock a DNA that won't be activated until Sunday.
Someone recommended forcing a reboot by holding the power button but the phone just boots back to the verizon activation screen.
Thanks in advance

On a somewhat similar note, does anyone know how to get google to sync and reinstall all your apps after a wipe when you bypass setting up the gmail account in the wizard. When I do this and then add my account when trying to sign into play store, for some reason the auto reinstall of my backed up apps does not happen.

how to screen lock reset

hello
i forget the numeric screen lock of my cell .. is there any solution available to fix it ..
cell contains lots of pictures and videos those are really important for me..
thanks
If you enter enough times it will request for your google password. Enter and get in. I think. Other option is to delete the settings database file in I forgot where.

Also, if you know how to use ADB you can break in via command prompt.
But I would just keep misentering it until it asks if you forgot your password and tells you to sign in with your Google account. And you should have your google password. Then it will unlock and reset the pin I think.
