X10 bricked after flashing ROM?! - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have installed CWM-Revovery 5.0 via Xperia Flash-Tool (Newest Version) on my rooted X10i (with busybox). After this I have rebooted my device and created an backup on SD-Card!
Then I wiped all data and flashed this ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782771 "XPERIA S ICS" in the following order:
1.) Xperia S ROM (Was finished in only one second?!) 2.) ICS Launcher 3.) Google Apps 4.) ICS Addon Pack
After reboot my device stucks endless at the "Sony Ericsson" Logo and I can not enter the recovery anymore. I have also tried to Flash another ROM with plugged USB and Flash-Tool, but this also fails!
Any ideas please?
I hope my device is not fully bricked...
Thanks in advance for all helpful answers!

You were supposed to flash fxp kernel which has cwm recovery inbuilt after unlocking your bootloader. Then install the rom as directed. Try repair option via pc companion if flashtool isn't workin.
Sent from my xperia x10 running ics :what:

If you can access xRecovery, try to restore previous version of your ROMs after resetting facotry default and wiping partition and dalvik cache
If you can'tm check this video on how to flash an original firmware.
You'll need to download a firmware, and put it inside the firmware folder in the flashtool, then start the flashing as described in the video.

ROM problem

I have a week trying to install a new ROM to my phone (xperia mini pro). I follow the instructions, install the recommended kernel for each Rom. When i finish installing the ROM i reboot the phone put the kernel logo and don't do anything else (the last time i let it in the kernel logo for 10 hours and it didn't work).
I fix it using Wotan server. But what i really care about is that i want to prove new Rom, so if someone can help me i will be really thankful.
PS: Sorry if you think my english is bad, is because my main language is not english

Hello,
I'm having the same problem, I don't get it at all. I bought my Xperia Mini Pro (SK17i) yesterday and so far I have been only able to flash stock rom and MiniCMSandwich AOSP Android 4.0.4 RC3, both of which work fine.
With all other roms I get stuck on the logo (depending on kernel - Sony, Sony Ericsson or Free Xperia logo). I do full wipe, dalvik cache etc. but nothing helps.
So far I tried: FXP 117 7.2.0, FXP 117 9.0.0 and XROM™ ICS RC7.
I tried different basebands, flashing in different order etc., no matter what I get stuck on the logo.
Could someone post a detailed step-by-step instruction how to flash either FXP or the XROM on the Mini Pro? Which baseband should I use (and how do I know it's the baseband's fault when the rom doesn't work), what about Wi-Fi etc.
I flashed Galaxy S+ (I9001) before and didn't have any of these issues.

guide for installing cm7 is on original thread

I do exactly as it says. I had to flash stock rom before that, because update zip wouldn't work if I started from AOSP (or if I wanted to apply it after flashing FXP)
BTW, do I really have to flash stock ftf (kernel+baseband), which overwrites my CWM each time I want to flash FXP? I hate losing CWM.
Anyway, I did this:
1. I put the update.zip on the sdcard
2. I flashed the boot.img I unpacked from the update.zip using fastboot (went fine)
3. I applied update.zip using CWM
4. I did factory reset from CWM and wiped dalvik cache
After reboot - it hangs on the Free Xperia logo. I also tried flashing Rage kernel 2.8 with the same result. Oh, and does it matter if I flash kernel before or after the rom?

rage kernel is not compatible with cm7,
mostly kernel is flashed before the rom, but either way should work i guess..

That's because for some stupid reason you formatted the system partition, which must not be done on some ROM installations.
The CM7 installation requires info from the system folder, but since you formatted it, you don't have the info on your phone and installation cannot be installed.
Reinstall stock firmware, follow the same procedure, but do NOT format system, but do make factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache.
Well, I was asked to try formatting /system.
Ok, again then. BTW, is there a pre-rooted .62 stock rom somewhere? I only see .69, which isn't good AFAIK.

[Help]My LWW strucked at sony logo while installing rom

Hello one and all....I'm in a deep problem.. Required urgent reply.I had rooted my phone successfully with flashtool and also installed ics stock rom on it.I usually dont install any mods or roms.. but I saw real ics and installed it.but it had not responded in the page where it asked details aboutt wipe data and others..but it only responds to the buttons back and next i pressed next and it had installed rom succesfully. Then cwm rebooted and then I had strucked on sony logo...I tried many times but no use..It cant also open cwm recovery....
Real ICS (full) is unlocked BL specific i think; you have to flash original firmware i guess, use PC companion to repair.
Can you enter flashmode? If you can then just re-flash it with Stock ICS Firmware,Oh did you install a costum kernel before Flashing real ICS? Most CosROM requires a costum Kernel installed
Sent from my Xperia Mini using XDA Premium
Go back to stock ROM, and root your phone again. Then unlock your bootloader and try flashing a custom kernel (I'd recommend KRsH Kernel). In CWM, do a factory reset and wipe everything (dalvik-cache, battery stats, EVERYTHING). Proceed to flashing the Real ICS ROM (choose "install zip from sdcard", not "apply update").
---------- Post added at 11:49 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:44 AM ----------
One more thing - the first boot takes quite a while (it took me about 5 minutes or so). I'm also running Real ICS.

I think no.. before I had rooted my device at stock rom 4.0.2.A.0.58 and flashed it to ics stock rom to it using flashtool with out wipe data so that i can preserve root as shown in some guide from xda forum(I cant provide a link). So i'm happyt with the root. You can install a Xperia S based rom, like Real ICS, or install mods like Xperia S Launcher
Try these steps:
1. DOWNGRADE to GB .58 firmware using FLASHTOOL
2. ROOT your phone, and install a ROOT SHELL
3. Use FLASHTOOL to update to ICS 4.0.4 (DO NOT wipe user data)
4. ROOT your phone
5. UNLOCK your BOOTLOADER
6. FLASH a CUSTOM KERNEL (KRsH KERNEL is recommended for Real ICS)
7. Enter CWM
8. In CWM, do a FACTORY RESET, WIPE CACHE PARTITIONS, WIPE DALVIK CACHE and WIPE BATTERY STATS (DALKVIK CACHE and BATTERY STATS are found in ADVANCED)
9. Choose INSTALL.ZIP FROM SD CARD and choose the Real ICS zip file
Seriously, the first boot is ridiculously long. 3 minutes may not be enough. Try waiting for 10 or 15 minutes.

I had the same problen and fixed it. So first you will need a stock firmware of ICS (find it on google can't provide link because I am using phone...sorry) then you will need latest Flashtool version (download it on google too).
Once you have everything downloaded follow the steps.
1)Instal Flashtool (it's easy)
2)Then open it and navigate folder with name Firmwares.
3)Put in this folder the .ftf file you downloaded (I mean the stock Firmware) Plug the phone in and wait while Flashtool will recognize your phone. IF not instal ADB drivers
4)Then open Flashtool and hit the button with the lightning
5)Choose flashmode
6)Then choose the firmware you puted in the folder.
7)Follow the on-screen instructions and you have your phone back
Reply if I helped you!!!

u can just reflash your kernel and restore your backup from recovery. if u used x-parts or any app to install recovery it installs it to system partition. when u install a new rom it wipes your system partition.
if u haven't unlocked bootloader u have to flash stock firmware via flashtool. then install a recovery mode and restore your backup.

Xperia Ray is st18i. Download right rom and try to flash it with full wipe. Don't use sus, if you want go back to stock use flashtool and ics ftf

If you have an unlocked bootloader you should be able to flash enter cwm
I would do it like this:
1. Take off the battery
2. Insert battery
3. Hold volume up
4. While holding it connect it to PC
(It's in fastboot mode to flash the kernel)
5. Flash an ics kernel with flashtool, flash the one you like (or see which is recommend for a miui rom for ST18i)
6. Unplug phone, boot in cwm
7. Mount usb and copy the zip of the rom for st18i to your phone
7.1 if this won't work, do
Code:
adb push name_of_the_rom_zip /sdcard/
8. Wipe data/factory reset -> wipe cache
9. Advanced -> Wipe dalvik cache
10. Install the zip
11. Reboot and enjoy
Should work

Problem getting into Recovery Mode ST15i

Hello!
Please forgive me if i ask the wrong way here.
I would like to migrate from (rooted) ICS 4.0.4 to JB 4.2.2 Cyanogenmod 10.1 on my xperia mini st15i.
I remember me rooting it using gingerbread and flashtool a year ago, but i cant remember how i updated to stock ics. Most probably using the flashtool.
Now i have the problem that i cannot enter recover mode by pressing Volume down when turning on.
The system just starts into some safe mode.
Reading the last 4 hours arround makes me think that there is a cwm missing, but all tries to install cwm on my 4.0.4 phone fail (eg using x-parts).
Do you have a tip or advise how i can migrate from 4.0.4 to 4.2.2?
best regards,
b
First of all, you need an unlocked bootloader to flash any rom like 4.1 or 4.2. So unlock it and then go on
Now you choose the 4.2.2 rom (I guess cm10.1) and open the zip, flash the kernel boot.img from inside the zip using flashtool (or the fastboot.exe) and then install the rom
If I were you I'd first read many guides like for example my bootloader unlocking guide or my guide how to install a custom kernel/rom :good:

Thank you so much for your advice. I managed it to unlock the bootloader, even the automatic software (#2 in your tut) didnt recieve the unlock code. I had to get it per email from sony.
At restart it seems that all data was lost, and i am now ready to go to CM 10.1.
So if i understand you correctly, this is what i have to do now:
1) flash he boot.img from the shu_cm-10.1-20130519-UNOFFICIAL-anzu.zip - This will install CWM
2) when the mobile restarts i am now able to enter the cwm and install the zip which is on the sd-card
3) Enjoy 4.2.2
Is this correct?
best regards,
B

Yes, first you copy the cm10.1.zip and the gapps (google apps) for android 4.2.2 on your sdcard. Then you flash the boot.img for cm10.1 (from inside the zip) on phone and reboot in cwm (pressing volume down randomly or when the notification led lights up)
Now you are in cwm, there you wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache and then install zip from sdcard - choose zip - choose cm10.1, let it install. Afterwards you choose the gapps.zip. When the installation has finished, just reboot and enjoy android 4.2.2 :good:

Too bad - i think i bricked my phone in doing that.
I flashed the boot.img as said and tried to restart and enter cwm.
But the only thing that happens is the LED is pink and the screen switches on but stays black.
What did i wrong?
Lucky it seems still possible to enter fast flash mode and the flashtools recognize the phone
In the meanwhile i was able to flash a stock GB .42 and root it.
I tried to install cwm using x-parts but x-parts freezes during the installation and i get a notification that is has to be force-ended.
So i am struggling at installation of the cwm on my st15i.
I never thought that it is so nasty...
Instead of using flashtool, use some batch tools (like in my sig) to flash the kernel (boot.img) that came with cm rom.
Then try booting it, when fxp logo appears, press vol down.
If it didn't work, try some custom kernels like lupus or mesa and try again.
Regards
N
Which boot.img did you use? The one for mini (smultron)?
Btw let's go on via PM, we can try to solve it in German, maybe that's easier. We can post the solution in the end here
Btw for the next time you have a question, please post it in Q&A section :good:

So i have to wait until its online again or i get a copy from somethere else...
Click to collapse
The just wait until it's online again or try FXP cm10 again for smultron. Then flash the right gapps for 4.1.2
Sent from my SK17i running stock ics (.587)
Finally i made it to 4.2.2 on the xperia st15i using CM10.1 from mike, and i am superhappy.
It really was all about the wrong image, and not finding the correct one, because goo.im was offline.
I love xda-dev :highfive: and its helpful community!
