I've noticed on each CM based rom Ive flashed that I'm getting terrible data speeds. I thought flashing the LF6 modem would fix that but it hasn't. Any ideas as to what the cause of the slower speeds are? My normal was anywhere from 6-10mbps but now I'm fortunate to get 3.

There is a fix floating around, actually its it s settings tweak and it should increase you're non-wifi data speed tremendously. If you can wait a few min ill track it down and post a link.
If you read the thread you'll see that the settings are working for a lot of people
Only thing is they are att settings, which carrier do you have?

Ok I couldn't find the thread that contained this tweak and it's not mine, but in tha tthread most people were increasing data speads by a factor of three.
Download speedtest from market (free) and run a test without wifi on
Then go to settings / more... / Mobile Networks / make sure it's set to LTE/GSM
Then go back into mobie networks / access point names (select att/LTE), then click on the left of the att/LTE to open up a settings menu. Here are the settings for the tweak, so copy them down exactly as I give them to you:
Name: ATT LTE
APN: pta
Proxy: not set
Port: not set
Username: not set
Passwrod: not set
Server: not set
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS Proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication: not set
APN Type: default,supl,mms
APN Prtotocol: IPV4
Then do a reboot and run the speedtest again.
Please post your results
Thanks for the help but the speeds are still about the same. My network settings were already set to what you specified so I just reentered them and I don't see any change yet. When I get full bars I'll do it again and post but his is what I've been getting with 3. The 2 bottom ones are from before and the top one I just did.

Well why don't you call att for an airwave tower? If you meet the criteria they will send you one fkr free
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah I might look into that. You wouldn't happen to know what that criteria is do you?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
As far as criteria you have 3:
Must have broadband internet access (this is how the tower gets its power i thinks
Must have an account in good standing with the carrier
You must promise to return the tower in all of its contents back to the carrier within 30 day of cancellation
Other than that you will be speaking with a special team within tech support and they determine distance from tower and likely hood of success with the tower.

do you know this to be true or is this a myth?
Im not sure what is causing the poor speeds on the AT&T GS2, but I've ran speed tests against my N1, and it usually pulls better speeds. Also, I put my SIM in an Atrix and I was hitting over 6Mbps while the GS2 struggled to get 3Mbps.

I believe this to be BS. I am using a 3yr old SIM and getting 4G speeds with no problem on an Infuse. It's not the SIM it's how it is provisioned.
If you have one of the old Cingular or ATT Blue sims, maybe, but any recent ATT SIM is fine.

The only 4G sim card AT&T has is for LTE... which out phones wont recognize. A standard 3G sim card works just fine, as long as your plan has been upgraded to a "4G" plan.

Yea, I also get similar data speeds as you, right around 3.0Mbps down. But the thing is I'm just coming from a Thrill, on which I consistantly got around 6-8Mbps down (living in DFW). I don't why but data speeds went down on this phone even though I have the same sim card.

If you're gonna get an attitude about it, then resolve your own problem, my work is done here.
It's the same as most HTC devices set the APN from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1428457 for simple web, after you do so create a new APN name it Simple MMS with the same exact parameters except for APN type at the bottom set that to mms that should solve the problem for you.
Works just fine for me on Simple. Here is the string for apn.
Put it on the mmsc space:
http://smpl.mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
Make only ONE apn for Simple. Do notbuse two like the T-Mobile has one for data and one for phone.

If your APN settings posted are copied from the exact phone settings, you've got a typo in the first line. Internet is misspelled. I assume this is an error in posting here. You might check for similar errors in your settings however.
You may have viewed this list, but see if any settings here help you: http://nxwiki.blogspot.com/2011/09/claro-apn-settings-gprs-mms-wap-3g.html?m=1

No. Tmo and ATT have different 3g frequencies.
Try turning 3g off on your phone and see if it will pick up 2g. I had an ATT phone a couple years ago that wouldn't pick up my Tmo 2g signal unless I unchecked 3g.

Been on straight talk for over a year now, first with a sim out of a Nokia then a sim from the BYOD program. The biggest issue you may run into is some towers don't like the Pay as you go APN. I have a tower in the next town over that sometimes just wont let any web traffic through, drive 5 miles down the road, it switches towers and suddenly i'm getting 6Mbps down and 1.5Mbps up, and it's not just my note, happened to my captivate, my Infuse, my skyrocket, and my Note. My friends on a ATT LTE APN have no issues on the same tower. Other than that, it is awesome! Can't beat 45$ for some nice service and great coverage.
I use mine for tethering to my tablet, Netflix, YouTube, and my Dish Network account. I have had a problem once where i went over about 3 gigs in one month and i got throttled, i called customer support and they un-throttled me with no hassle, great customer service.
Make sure to leave out the proxy settings when you setup the APN.

Do any of you all just pay the 25$ per month with no data plan? It has been advertised that with the unlimited messaging you still get picture messaging and I was able to with my captivate however since switching to the note I have not been able to download a single picture that is sent to me so I do everything by email. In the messageit just says downloading and I have yet to see something actually download. If anyone has any info on this that would be great!

You'd just need a SIM card to make it work. If the SIM card is from t mobile or a different carrier then you'd need to obtain an unlock code.
