KERNEL Update for SGS 3 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
i´m from germany and a have a SGS3 with O2 branding.
i think about to install the SiyahKernel.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709686
My question is, can i install the new kernel on a european sgs3 with a branded ics?
or will it not so easy?
thx and regards
ravn83

Yes, Gokhanmoral is makeing it for international version of SGS3 (and SGS2 also). No matter is it branded or not. But it will rise your phone flash counter and void your warranty, but you are certainly aware of that.

[Q] Rooting my Girlfriends phone.

Hey.
After successfully rooting my HTC Desire HD I want to root and flash my girlfriends Samsung Galaxy S II I9100 with Android Revolution HD. I'm aware that I need to use Advanced Hack Kit first off before anything ?.
The current setup on her phone is she using Android 4.0.1 (updated last week) (not Jelly Bean) so unsure plus it is locked down to Orange (UK) with Orange software I guess so would I need to downgrade (to root) ?
Can some help me with this process with what version of ROM of Android Revolution I need ? :good:
I think ( first ) you have to flash 4.0.4 stock from sammie via odin ( because without yellow triangle ) and in this moment use fake cwm to flash insecure kernel witch root and cwm. then you can install any custom rom
Jest łatwiejszy sposób ziom.
1. Just flash Siyah or other already rooted kernel through Odin
2. Use Triangle Away app to remove triangle.
Podobno triangle nie do końca jest bezpieczny, a tak jak ja robię to wiem że nie jest potrzebny

Just root using Rachmat3 method. Then make a nand backup, then go to the rom thread and follow the instructions there.
Any problems then you can go back to your backup.
And stay away from 4.0.4 until you are running a safe/non stock kernel(especially if you have no warranty)
Lol

Try to stop mentioning updating to 4.0.4 to people that are just starting out.Theres a chance he could brick his phone, whereas using 4.0.3 is safe.
sent from my gt-i9100 since I cant be arsed using my laptop
Go to high on Android dot com. Max has step by step videos on rooting. The gs2 is one of the more popular phones he does.

simple, no need of external kernels nor anything weird..

not yellow triangle, nothing.
I always do as I said and all is well. Just remember, do not wipe ROM 4.0.4 in CWM.

It's Rachmad3s way. I did three times root this way and now again I have stock 4.0.4 and all is well.

Dude, you were given a root method in post 9 that doesn't involve anything with kernels.

Ics or jb now? Battery, stable and fast?

Hi. I want to find the Best Rom for me. I dont have time but i need custom Rom.
Which Rom is good for me?
Wysyłane z mojego GT-I9300 za pomocą Tapatalk 2
"Best rom" threads are not allowed because you have to try and judge by yourself - everyone has different tastes.
However I'd recommend trying slimmed-down Jellybean roms such as Wanamlite and combining it with Siyakernel.

thread closed - try a few and see what is best for you

Does he have backup of earlier rom? Maybe try to install some other one. Place it to sd card using other device. If it won't work then try to find something which could help you back to stock and root defy again then...
