[HELP] [SERIOUS PROBLEM] i cant install roms on my neo v !!! - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

hi, recently i have installed some MIUI rom on my neo v, and was working perfect. but i wanted to go back to the stock roms, but i had a problem, and it was that it would take about 2 hours for every percent (using flashtool) !!! so i tried changing kernels, and the problem presisted, until i dont know how, i removed the kernel, and i couldn't install one again cuz it said that for doing so, i need to root my phone.
so basically, i have a phone without kernel and rom! can anyone help me fix it?

You don't need to root your phone to flash kernels. Flash kernels using fastboot. Do you have a nandroid backup?

Flash a stock ftf, sounds like you might have relocked your bootloader

well im only trying to flash a stock ftf, but im having the problem i said before!
and i have tried to do it in locked and unlocked bootloader, but there was no difference!

how many pc programs are there that can flash a rom?
is there any that can flash MIUI or CM roms (i mean zip ones)?

Flashtool for flash firmware like FTF file or flash kernel.
Fastboot for flash kernel only.
CWM for flash ROM through SD Card.
If u want revert back to stock.u will need FTF file and the right one flashtool...tick no verification final.
Sorry for my English

Message about root, when flashing kernel, refer to locked/unlocked BL.
root=unlocked BL

Do this!
1. Flash any CM kernel from fastboot
2. flash cm9/10 from recovery after rebooting try to flash stock using flashtool! It should work!

well as i said, i wanted to flash a FTF rom with Flashtool, but it would take too long, and i was afraid that my battery charge drains, so i stopped it.

i m using unofficial way,the Test Point Method,S1tool.
on the other way official method, search from sony sites...

I'll attempt helping
Let's start with flashing a Stock ftf. U have one already. Use flashtool and do all as instructed. Untick Final Verification. Even if it is 2 hours per percent, just let it run. Perhaps your PC is slow.
And don't worry about battery running out. Did you know that when using recovery, if you remove the battery while the phone is still plugged into the computer, it won't turn off? It should be the same when using flashtool. Don't worry about battery
Once done, boot up your phone to check everything is done. If this worked, PM me, and I'll guide you through a MIUI flash.
You're welcome
1 more thing. Redownload the ftf. Maybe it is buggy.

Hey bro.
Is it fixed? Please let us know

sorry for being late to response!
good news, i fixed it! I dont know why i didn't try it sooner, but i tried flashing it with another pc, and it worked!
now i want some good roms for it,preferably based on JB. what are the bests out there?
BTW, Jass, your theory about "infinite battery while connected to pc" didn't turned out to be true, and it made me buy a direct charger! so please do not do this at home, school or...

when flashing ftf roms check in log to see if it gets stuck in this message [Ending Flash Session] (cuz it wont continue flash anymore)
if yes
plug out the usb
restarst your computer
try different usb ports

Friend i have two issue with this kernel.
1). After i flash it it display "Unfortunately, keypad has stopped" and "Unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped" errors.
2). I can't see Superuser app in the app drawer.
Can you help me to fix this things.
Edited:- I flashed the superuser app via recovery, now it fix, but i have that errors.
Thanks!
@gregbradley: is that kernel from Neo V, based on .431? If yes, in .431 neo and neo v had different kernels, and when neo used neo v kernel user got problems as above. Not sure if it's same on .587
@android addicts: if you wanna keep her phone stock as possible, my advice is to have stock .587, then hotboot kernel which have CWM, and flash superuser.zip, on the next boot phone will boot with stock kernel and you will have superuser.
How to hotboot and what to hotboot check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1678690

No. Don't do that.. You will end up with problems.
Don't do OTA updates on phones with unlocked bootlaoder, specially not if you used official method.
That update is because you have .587 fw and .431 kernel, that's why you got notification about update. Let me guess, it's ~14mb?
If you just wanna root, and keep stock kernel, try following my instructions.

If I may ask, since I see you didn't end up wit boot problems, did you unlock bootloader with unofficial way, with s1tool?
p.s. you have another option, since you have root access, install titanium backup, and uninstall update center app
but still, my advise is flash stock .587, hotboot kernel with CWM, install superuser.zip and that's it, you are on stock with superuser access.

Anw, learn to read sticky threads. This is old phone now, most of the instructions are in sticky threads.

[Q] I thought I had it all figured out...

I recently updated my friend's X10 to 2.3.3 (she was still on 2.1 - amazing).
I went forth and unlocked the boot loader and rooted the device - no issues at all.
Now I guess I simply wanted too much. Intrigued by all the ICS ROMs lying around here I finally decided to try one.
Good so I read a few howtos, and figured I needed to flash a new kernel before I flash a new rom. First things first, right?
So I flash feralab's v4.5 kernel as it seemed to be in a stable state. The next step would have been to install Vashida Reddys 003 ROM but I didn't get that far. Flashtool told me the kernel flash was successful... unfortunately the phone didn't boot anymore. Or only until the green Sony Ericsson logo
Desperately I downloaded SEUS and went back to stock.
What is it I did wrong? :-/

Is it the right order to flash the kernel first and custom ics rom afterwards?

okay.. I'll give it another shot. If you are new to all this all these colorful threads with hundreds of posts to read are quite a chaos you know
If you take that rom, you need that kernel and afterwards you need these fixes and gapps and this shiny addon pack etc. etc. Oh well anything else would be too easy
do I use fastboot mode or flashmode to flash a kernel .ftf file?
Edit: Found another thread. The information there was inconclusive but apparently flashmode is the right choice.
Fun Fact. In Fera's V4 ROM the English installer says: Thanks for choosing feralabs or something similar. However the German translation says "You will regret choosing feralabs". I hope I don't

So did everything work out? If your friend wants all features working on her phone I suggest you stick to gingerbread. DonutHD stock gingerbread is a really nice fast and most importantly stable on. You could find it in the development section.
Ps. You need to be on stock kernel so you should flash 2.3.3 again(if not already done) and root and go from there. Do this if your a good friend ics for x10 us just not there yet. Give my regards.

[Q] I hate ICS on the XU, I cant root and cant go back to GB :(

I was very happy with the performance of GB on my xperia U but there was no root for GB. I was told that in order to get root I have to update to ICS. So I did via update manager and am on the 6.1..54 firmware. Its horrible, slow and laggy.
I used both methods of rooting, flashtool and Bin4ry's both have failed and dont work. My phone cannot be rooted.
So can anyone tell me how I can root this firmware?
Also can I go back to stock GB? if yes please tell me how.

Does this method require unlocked bootloader? I mean the one involving flashing .10 kernel and then back .54 one. Sorry for the "noobish" question, but I just began to explore the root/flashing aspects of my XGO and the proccess is completely different from my previous samsung phone, so it's like begining from zero point again at knowledge.

Thanks for the reply. Indeed I managed to root, install CWM recovery and flashed my first rom at my XGO.
Another "noobish" question if you can answer is that I backed up my rom before flashing the custom rom, yet in the clockwordmod folder in internal memory now there is nothing in it. Did the flashing erased my back up? So I cannot get my original FW, since I didn't back it up at my pc? I mean I had greek FW branded to a carrier, so if I need to send it to service, how am I supposed to get it back? To be honest I didn't see a such situation coming so I was unprepared. FYI I flashed [FXP210] XperiaPremiuM™ v4 from this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2155343. Thanks for your help again!

No i didn't. I still have locked bootloader. that's why i flashed v4 rom for locked bootloader. Yet I may try v5, since it's compatible with LB as well. just i'll have to flash the boot.img through flashtool if I remember correctly from what I read in that thread.

[Q] Custom rom in locked xperia U?

So I want to install a custom firmware, but this is my first phone with a locked bootloader so if you'd review what I've gathered about the subject and correct it, it would be grand (I've already flashed a different stock firmware and rooted it btw, but that as far as I've wanted to get until now).
I want to flash JB eXperience 2, and from what I can see this would be the steps:
Load up the rom in the SD storage.
Install a stock b 1.54 rom like this one with flashtool.
Root the rom using flashtool (I'm also unsure abuot this step, saw some weird stuff about rooting this version).
Install this particular CWM with the included bat (this is the bit that makes me a bit uneasy).
Load CWM and flash the custom firmware.
I'm asking because I've read stuff about replacing the B 1.54 kernel by the one on B 1.10 and stuff like that, that doesn't make a lot of sense to me, and also, the experience howto is made for unlocked phones so I'm a bit unsure and I'd really rather ask than have my phone bricked
thanks!
Do this
Flash B.54
Flash B.10 kernel
Root
Flash B.54 kernel
Install cwm
boot into cwm
flash the rom
reboot
thats it
simple

Hi,
I have tried the binary's method but it didn't work either. I've been looking all over the xperia u forum's but I didn't find a solution...
It appears a message saying:
"mount: permission denied (are you root?)"
I am on FW 6.1.1.B.1.54. I also tried to flash it to kernel 6.1.1.B.1.10 but it also appear a message saying "ERROR: Aborted" on flashtool.
It's an Xperia U ICS 4.0.4 Vodafone PT with bootloader locked. Thanks a lot

Try this........ Link
See the quote in the thread.....
I have trying to flash the kernel to have the 6.1.1.B.1.10 FW installed, but I'm not able to do it through flashtools... It appeared an ERROR message after pressing the vol - button and connecting it to cell...
Anyway thanks for the help!
Edit: could the problems be because of windows 8? I mean, does flashtool works fine with windows 8? Thanks..

win 8 should not be a problem if u have drivers installed. which version of flashtool u r using.
I'm using the last one: 0.9.10.1 64bits.
I think I have the drivers since when I connect the device, windows asks what do I want to dowith Xperia U. It also works with PCC. But when I used flashtool and I put the device in flash mode, when I connect, it appears a pop up saying windows doesn't recognize the device.
Is this normal?

u installed drivers in, <installation path>:\Flashtool\drivers, goto the bottom when it starts and install flashmode and fastboot drivers too
Yes, I installed the drives on that folder you pointed.
But the fastboot drivers I think I didn't... How can I do that?

[Q] Did i broke my Neo V?

Hello!
I am totally noob.
What i done since i bought my phone:
For 1 year nothing but now i wanted to get the cleanest ROM with lastest CM. So i downloaded http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1560613 this program to remove or unlock [i dont know] bootloader and did it, i think i did it. So later i downloaded random ROM to install on my Xperia Neo V, this one - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2139136 to install it i used the same program i used before [SE Bootloader Unlocking v1.6 by quangnhut123] cos i seen there a button FLASH, everything went good i think. So i turn my phone on and started waiting for like 5minutes and thought that wont work, then i downloaded a Fusion Kernel [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1926299] and then again that earlier ROM. But again it didnt want to start. I think CM Recovery is working becouse i entered to him.
And thats it. I dont rooted that phone, maybe this is the problem?
If someone can help me and tell me step by step what to do now i will be greatful. Sorry for my english
Thanks

You have unlocked the boatloader right? If you have done you can fastboot kernel...i don't understand whether you flashed kernel... And phone is stuck at logo? Or bootlooping? One thing is sure... Nothing has happened to your phone...

I think bootloader was unlocked properly, becouse in the section where we can see raports i saw "success' or something like that. I dont know the meaning of kernel or recovery or bootloader unfortunately... I dont it in Fastboot mode i guess. When i turn on my phone i can see Fusion kernel logo and nothing more for like 1minute, then i can see black screen for few second, and again fusion logo BUT with glowing diode for few second
What should i do now?
Thanks for responding

From what i know, if you're using CM10.1 (Android 4.2.2), Fusion kernel is not compatible, you have to use the kernel provided in the rom archive (boot.img). Kernel, recovery, root and bootloader are the base terms in Android world, if you don't know what they mean, you should learn, or stay with the phone untouched (remain with the software provided by Sony). One thing is sure: nothing has happened to the phone. And for flashing a kernel, you have to use FASTBOOT mode, in Flashmode it's not going to work.

You should flash the kernel INSIDE thezip (inside the rom archive, there's something called boot.img or something like that) Extract it, and flash it using Flashtools.

I didn't used that rom, the only CM rom that i'm using is this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2227490 (the only bugs are the lack of HDMI and the lack of radio). For Neo V, download it from here http://legacyxperia.basketbuild.com/index.php?dir=main/cm10.1/haida/nightlies/ (download the latest one (20130815 build))
