I was about to flash the latest [ROM-CM10HYBRID]PARANOIDANDROID [1.991] when I noticed in the instructions it said,
-FACTORY WIPE! *if you dont you may keep errors from the port release.* *if your on CWM please download THIS zip and flash instead of wiping* it will wipe your phone properly since cwm sucks.*

So I booted back up and downloaded the darkside super wipe. After performing the wipe and flashing my phone got stuck on the boot screen, I reset it and tried clearing cache and was going to do a factory reset, but it gets stuck on formatting /cache.
I decided to go back to my previous ROM from my nandroid backup, but when I tried that it too gets stuck on "formatting /cache..". I tried another nandroid backup and got the same results.
Now I have a nonworking phone and I am running out of ideas here, any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

That's for the Tmobile S2 and AT&T Skyrocket, although somewhat similar to the GNote its not. Try using unbrick/unroot method at rootgalaxynote.com it should work.

Same thing happened to me. After flashing the wipe, I flashed the ROM and then Gapps which resulted in a boot loop upon the initial reboot. Luckily, I was able to restore via CWR.

I was going to try darkside superwipe as well but I rather stick to the normal mehod, never had an issue with clockworkmod recovery. Guess some don't like it and prefer twrp, everyone has preferences I guess to each his/her own.

you werent wrong about ODIN, you were wrong about the wipe.
and yes with some modifications my rom works on skyrocket, i know the guy who does PA for skyrocket and he had my recent one running on his phone. im currently helping him build pa from source for skyrocket.

Obviously I wasn't wrong cause if you read, there's a few posts that state people have had problems. Congrats on your jb rom and your other projects you might be working on but to say I was wrong was incorrect. As you can see a few people have had issues, you prefer twrp stick with it, others prefer not to as I stated before to each his/her own.

I use the dark side super wipe on my Note, and I have yet to encounter any problems. I have used several roms ranging from stock to cm9 to Jamies badass PAJB. No bootloops, no lockups, no problems... never underestimate the power of the DARK SIDE.
I use Darkside too.
I think one of the posters who got a bootloop said they flashed the rom then gapps -- did they reboot between? I got my one and only bootloop when I flashed multiple mods without the booting in between. I think the rom needs to unpack and write more during the first boot.
I gave it another shot and wiped using the Dark Side Super Wipe method. This time I flashed just the ROM ala carte and waited to see it would reboot. I'm happy to report that it did. From there i moved on to flashing GAPPs before redownloading all of my apps fresh from the Store. So far so good.... everything works great and the ROM is as smooth as ever .

The way a rom works on a device basis is also much different from the way a wipe does.

Thanks to the developer - @xplodwold - for getting this working on the Euro GS2. It can be flashed safely on an ATT GS2 and works quite well. I've literally done nothing here, just informing you all that it works and providing download link since I don't see another post.
What's Broken?

Everything , but it boots and you can get a good feel for the new OS we're patiently waiting for.
NOTE- this uses a euro gs2 kernel so your soft buttons won't work and you have to navigate recovery differently until you flash back to your daily ROM. Volume buttons control up and down and power button is used to select.
Enjoy

It would require a different kernel to work properly. Normal Gingerbread kernels won't work.
A proper port will use the same kernel base as ICS, which is either Linux 3.0 or 3.1 - the port here is based on a Gingerbread 2.6.35.7 kernel full of massive hackery.
Basically, they're spinning like crazy to get out a partially functional proof of concept, and will effectively have to nuke and repave once ICS officially comes out for the I9100.
I've done the "backlevel kernel hackery" deal once (xdandroid - 2.6.29 kernels for Froyo...), and I'm not doing it again.
I'm not going to mess with ICS until there's a proper I9100 ICS kernel source drop.
well i installed it, it was pretty cool, it ran smoothly outside of the fact that nothing with data or really anything worked, it was cool, i cant wait for a working version and the bottom buttons not working isnt a big deal cause you have the on screen keys
I'm waiting until it's stable, and the needless OS home/back keys can be removed. My softkeys work just fine.

hes meaning that he doesnt like the fact of the os keys. he like using his sofkeys and finds the os keys pointless. at least thats what i got out of his statement.
Softkeys = Software based key input
Hardware keys = hardware based

I'm glad to see that the menu button isn't a throw away.. This little taste has made me excited to see what CM9 will be
Currently running CM9 on my Photon, would like to go back to stock, have searched and havent really found to much.
Is there a guide for the simple minded among us (namely me) to go back to stock???
I have a feeling it's really simple and I am gonna feel silly for asking....heh
Boot into recovery,
hard reset X3
Reboot into rsd mode
Sbf back to stock
(you will have t to re root and unlock if you choose to after)

Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
It was pretty nice, but not all it's cracked up to be. A few things didnt work.
But the most annoying thing was it didnt seem to know it was on Sprint network.
It was nice, and I dont wanna crap on the hard work put into it..
It's acting kind of flakey, I wonder if re-flashing it would help, I might try that first then maybe go back to stock.....
Ive had very few issues with CM9 and ive followed it from the beginning Alpha stages.. Try a different version if you have issues. To each his own for sure some people will like others won't. I personally cant be taken away from it. Ive had VERY few network issues where it wouldn't connect and the not working items list gets smaller each day, its basically down to video camera in stock app and few other minor things. As for going back to stock if you need super detail check out QBKing77 on youtube, he has a video of exactly what to do.
I am currently running beta-0.1.0-2d-cm-9.0.0-RC0-Sunfire-KANG-signed, maybe I should just upgrade to beta-0.5.0-cm-9.0.0-RC0-sunfire-UNOFFICIAL-signed. If I do that, I pretty much follow the directions I did to flash the original correct??
Basically from about 3 minutes in on QB's tut video??

When coming from previous cm9 build just wipe system in mounts and storage and flash thr newer build onto it via clockworkmod recovery.
Sent not from your device!
I will give that a try, I tried 3 or 4 times yesterday but it would get stuck on the M duel core screen.
Restored the back up I had and it was ok then.
EDIT:
No love yet again, I am using CWM 5.0.2.7.
It stops at the M duel core tech screen and just sits there.
Did you flash twice? If you don't, it bootloops.

The way i got that rom to work on my photon was to run the original rom, then go back and flash the most recent version, that worked perfectly for me!
I will give that a whirl after after work, thanks....
Finally, got it going, further reading figured out to flash the rom twice in a row, currently running 0.5.0, had to flash the CDMA fix to get the signal, running great, much smoother then the 0.1.0......

Here's the problem. You have an ics ROM and you're trying to flash a gingerbread ROM directly over it, thinking you will get that kernel and be able to overclock. I would slow down before you brick your new phone. Do some reading. Flash an ICS ROM that allows overclocking. Either that, or do some research on available kernels and what ROMs those kernels are compatible with. Good luck.

Ok so what I gather is you have an ICS kernal and want that with a GB ROM. If that's the case, what is your actual goal as I'm not sure what you want is feasible. If its ICS ROM you want, check out FJ ICS build 6. That will OC all day long and its fast and reliable. Otherwise, just flash SauROM 7.0 then 7.1 on top. Do you want me to post the links to each ROM?

If you read the thread, the unknown is perfectly fine as that's what mine said. I never had issues arising from that. Now as far as the 4G, you must have the correct APN set for your carrier. Who do you have?

I know you are excited but all your issues are addressed in the thread. In fact, the OP has most if not all that covered. The first few pages explains a lot. Its 280 pages long but if you really want to learn/know all about that ROM, invest the time in reading. This applies to any and all future endeavors.

Att ...But the only thing is I have never had to manually input APN before...really I have never had this much trouble before...I have always followed the steps and everything worked fine but now I cant seem to get this going?

Ok, I rooted my device about a mont ago and since flashed different ROMs with no problem, s-on and using 4ext recovery with smart flash on. I was running cm10 and decided to try cm 9 due to call volume and speaker phone not wprking properly. Did full wipe, dalvik, cach.and factory reset. now all I get is the HTC boot screen.
I have tried downloading different ROMs and flashing different kernels and searching everything I can possibly think of and can't seem to find a fix. I tried flashing the stock rom but it won't work. please help.... Thanks in Advance.

If you read the past 20+ post on the CM9 thread then you'll know what to do to get it up and running again. Good luck

Since the official 4.3 nightlies have started for vzw I'm pulling mine like I said I would :good: enjoy the new PAC!
-Dubbsy
Original text below for transparency:
While I was messing with other projects I saw [Vertigo]'s build for the i9505. I downloaded it and got data working because I personally wanted to see PAC in 4.3.
Papa Smurf is already working on the official and it should be done in a couple days I'd imagine. I will pull the file when the official rolls out. :good:
*I don't plan to support this, it was just for fun.
*I don't expect people to use this as a daily, more for those who just like to flash stuff to see new stuff.
*So all that said, this is a POC port of an ALPHA release. There are going to be things that don't work. Expect it.
Download:
Taken down
To install:
Download
Boot to recovery
Backup
Wipe
Install ROM
install 4.3 GAPPS(I used aio slim gapps for the PAC in black toggle)
Wipe cache and Dalvik
Reboot
PAC has always been a personal favorite of mine :good:
If this is the same as was posted in your other thread, I have been using it for 24 hours and it is nearly perfect. Only issue I've seen is the network bars are blank but it says 4G and data comes in just fine. Best ROM I've used so far and no reason it couldn't be a daily

I really enjoyed PAC4.3 too for the few hours I played with it. Back to hunting bugs on my main projects though.

It's the right size though

Jonestown asked me to. So I did. Some little things that I need to work out still. But it's running as well as I'd expect MIUI to run.
I personally think MIUI is like android lite for the former iPhone user.
I like it's theme engine better, and it's quick settings better. But I dislike everything else about it for the most part.

I'm still on 4.2.2 roms, I have tried flashing several 4.3 roms but I can only get them to boot once. Then it just gets stuck on the splash screen, anyone know what the problem is? Is it my SD card format or maybe I need to flash updated su? Any help is greatly appreciated and I have been trying to figure this out for weeks.

You should be able to back to back to back to back to been to back reboot no problems
I have had it where it hangs at the Samsung screen but it always boots up after awhile.

Yeah I'm not sire what the problem is with my phone, I have left it for 20+ mins and still nothing. I updated my baseband to me7 but I don't think that would be the problem. I will try to figure it out tomorrow. It's pretty frustrating not being able to flash any 4.3 roms.

Funny you should say about the baseband. I updated mine before I started the miui port. My boot hung longer than normal and at one point in the port process the phone got locked in roaming mode. I decided to odin and start from a clean non-custom boot screen.
Upon Odin it flashed mdk back and I haven't had the same issue I head before with my test builds.
Not saying it's the baseband, mine could've been concrescence

Hmm I may have to Odin of flashing su update or reformatting my SD doesn't work.. Thanks

It's just you.
It's like every other 4.3 that uses koush's superuser.
You need to go into developer options and make it root access to Adb and apps.

it runs pretty well. theme chooser causes hot boot. I get stuck on pac boot screen, so don't use theme chooser.

seeing as how you port everything, hows about you port the Samsung.ime to an aosp rom, that would be super!! I really like the TW keyboard.
