If you still have root, use Root Browser, go into system/app, remove Superuser.apk, then /system/bin and remove su. Reboot and you should be unrooted.

well you could use superoneclick.... you just turn on USB debugging connect it to the computer/laptop open up superoneclick and press unroot... just make sure to disable samsung kies if you have it and antivirus it could interfere with the procces and it will take like 5 min to finish

I believe it is because the stock rom you used to flash back was already rooted. Most of the time they are. But do what the others have said if you want to unroot the device. I prefer the superoneclick method. But why would you want to unroot? It's a lot better rooted just saying.

What should I do? It is stuck like that for about half an hour already...
It says that it is already rooted
But it is not...
I used Odin to put an insecure kernel
and once i try to use S2 Root I have this error.
I try to use Titanium Backup for example and it says I dont have root permissions.
Hmmm.. Did you had the phone on? I mean, like not in download mode. Just turn on like normal?
step 1. Go to a proper root guide
step 2. flash cf kernel
step 3. profit?

The insecure cf-root kernel already rooted the device, no need to use s2 root or anything else.

Yes, I had the phone turned on
And even if I don't use S2 Root It says I don't have root privileges in Titanium Backup
Do you have an app called "superuser"? If not you have to download it from Market and download Busybox from Market too.
Hope it works.

[Q] Root SII without USB access

Hi
My Samsung Galaxy SII cannot be accessed via its USB slot. I am able to recharge the phone over USB but that is all. Basically it got wet (very wet) and after much salvaging I managed to get USB recharging functionality back but lost USB data access.
My question. Is there anyway that I can root my phone without using USB.
Details:
Android version: 2.3.3
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XWKE2
Baseband version: I9100XXKDJ
I have tried using Gingerbreak (which I got onto the phone via AirDroid) but this isnt working for me.
I cannot use Odin or ADB because of my USB problem.
Anyone got any suggestions?
Many thanks!
John
Use wireless adb to install the zergrush root
or I saw something on the front page of xda about a mobile odin version that you could use right on the phone
edit I just actually read more on the movile odin and you need a CWM5 kernel so you will have to use the wireless adb for zergrush first then dd a rooted kernel in place manually then you will have CWM installed fine.

Many many many thanks!!
I have re-read the wireless ADB description. When I first looked at this I thought that I first needed to be root to install it! But now I see that that is not the case.
So with wireless ADB I should be able to manually root my phone.
Brilliant. Thanks!

If you use the EverRoot option (Market/Pro version only), Mobile ODIN will root the firmware while you flash it.
Yes i am misreading above as to will root and or will root on the fly >>as it roots an unrooted phone .

I have downloaded mobile Odin Pro and tried running it.
"Mobile ODIN - Error
SuperUser access is needed, but could not be acquired.
Are you rooted and did you give permission?"
To which I can only press OK.
So I dont have access to "EverRoot".
It was worth a shot though! And I will be using it at some point once I gain root....
Cheers
John
Have you tried the Zergrush root method via wireless adb yet?
Note it will only give root without any custom kernel or recovery. But you can then use adb again to dd the cf-root kernel into place manually and after a reboot recovery will be installed and available.

P769 LG Security Error

So I rooted my phone with a locked bootloader using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173465 and went ahead and installed CWM recovery, and then tried to flash this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428306
After my phone rebooted, I keep on getting this LG Security Error and cannot boot into the phone. I've tried to use the fastboot method to try and flash a new kdz, however I keep on getting stuck at the waiting for device part.. would appreciate it if anyone could help me to just restore my phone to factory settings?

Sounds like you made a serious error and didn't do any research before proceeding. Did you install the LG drivers prior to doing anything with the phone? If not, you have just bricked your device. L9RecoveryInstaller.apk is the ONLY way at the moment to successfully install CWM on the P769 if the bootloader is locked. I don't have all the answers myself as I'm fairly new to this device, P769, myself. There may be someone here with a little more insight as to how to fix your issue, but if you didn't install LGs drivers beforehand, I'd say your device is bricked. Sorry.
You'll need to use fastboot to flash ICS u and x. Then go into upgrade mode by holding volume up and plugging the phone to the computer. Upgrade mode should pop up and you're ready to flash any kdz using the offline flash method.

you should re-flash the firmware with kdz(this time flash a firmware with cwm and root included)

L9 P769 is a much different creature than the other P76X variants. CWM CANNOT be installed on the recovery partition unless the bootloader is unlocked. There are very few people here who have managed to unlock the bootloader on this device ( P769 ). Any attempt to modify the bootloader, boot partition, or recovery ends in "LG Security Error". As per my previous post, the only way to get CWM on this device with a locked bootloader is with the L9RecoveryInstaller.apk.

Do you have busybox installed and or do you have multiple copies of busybox installed?
If you don't have busybox, install it from the Play Store. Make sure it installs to /system/xbin.
If you have multiple copies, which I did when I had this error, use the busybox installer to uninstall all copies of busybox and then use the installer to reinstall busybox to /system/xbin.
You may need to run L9RecoveryInstaller again. It will say there is a recovery installed just reinstall anyway.
Reboot and try again.

Cm11 is available, yes some people can unlock the bootloader. Theres a few threads about removing tmobile bloatware, along with solutions to the other questions I answered. Simply search your question and you'll find a solution. THEN if you can't find the solution by searching make a thread to ask about it. Goodluck if you try unlocking the bootloader, its quite a journey!! If you can't unlock it or the process scares you out of trying search Kuma ROM. Goodluck!

Hi, I'm in a similar boat as the OP, successfully rooted the device but didn't realise I needed an unlocked bootloader to flash a recovery. Now I get Security Error.
Now, I keep seeing "ICS x and u" on this forum, and have no idea what it is. Yet people keep saying it like it's obvious.
Is this it? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44144663
If so, obviously I can't follow the steps because my phone won't boot up past the splash screen. And said phone isn't recognized by ADB at the moment, because I can only figure out how to boot it into S/W update mode.
Currently I can't even use the L9RecoveryInstaller.apk, because, again, can't boot up. Help?

[Q] Pushed OTA KitKat update continues to eat up my data!

I really like the way my OneMax w/verizon is and am not really interested in updating. The automatic firmware downloads is eating up my data daily. I just accepted to install it so it would stop, but it won't install due to error (it's a rooted device). I have S-Off on the phone right now and used the SuperSu unroot feature to try and let the update do it's thing just so it would stop downloading. Now, the root checker apps say I'm not rooted (but i think i still am). I tried the virtuous manual stock update but it gives me a installation aborted message while in recovery mode. Any help would be appreciated!
I think you need to have stock recovery & stock rom installed to accept the ota.

you only need to have stock recovery installed AND 100% stock system files. no system mods whatsoever.
assuming you enabled USB debugging under the developer options on the phone....you may need to update your version of adb/fastboot.
The root question....are you s off? If so that question is irrelevant as you only need to flash a custom recovery and flash the latest su zip from there to root any ROM...even the stock ota.

Yeah I have S-off on the phone. I will update the ADB version and retry. I don't know why I thought the su would be able to do a one-click unroot. All it ended up doing was just confusing me. You want to root. You started with a program (vroot) which is not known to work on Kit Kat. But you think that it's OK, because it's Chinese. Then you refuse to use Samsung signed factory images to recover your phone. Why? Because they're from Japan?
On a clean NC5 build, Towelroot seems to root just fine. Why not use that?

Angry? No, just confused as I said. You seemed to be worried about running Odin, an official Samsung application to flash factory stock ROMs but don't seem to have any problems running programs like vroot. Maybe the vroot owners have reformed, so maybe it's time to look. However, it seems very likely that they've just tweaked Towelroot, as vroot couldn't root Kit Kat before Towelroot came out. If so, then they should be telling geohot how to make it work on more models rather than diverting contributions from geohot. But then again, they've never been a part of the community. Their choice, of course.
i have runing odin many times to restore/update phone rom.
