I had mentioned this to Joker and this was his response.
"Unless the atrix or photon gets it we can't use it, drivers have to match the kernel. That's the issue"
So unless atleast the atrix gets ics I suppose no proper gpu support for us..
Oh that sucks, well I guess we will have to wait

given the fact that all the other galaxy phones are rooted, whats your opinion on this one?
think it will take long?
i tether, so its a must for me
it will b rooted the very same day it comes out. All the galaxy phones require is I think just a root kernel and done.

any updates on this topic? very eager to see a rooting solution for this beauty.
i believe all galaxy s phones have the same rooting process like stated above, they the easiest phones to root.
my friend she has the fascinate and has had it since June. her brother works for verizon and gave her that phone cuz its a test version. it is the samsung galaxy s SCH-i500 (verizon fascinate). is there anything i can do to help the situation? i would like to root her phone for her but would need the ground work. any help would be appreciated...thanks!

There is an app for the gsm versions but the app did NOT mention the epic or fascinate, unless there was an update I misses out on but check out ny friends captivate quadrant score after the lag fix, we did it three time just to double check, though linpack was pretty much the same

We are supposed to get about 15 fascinates at the store I work at and my boss said I could have one to try to root and mod but if I break it I buy it lol but if I get it rooted I'll post how and pics of it working and all that jazz

press the home key 3 or 4 times to bypass activation screen...
Pressing home did not work, we just simply activated it then cleared it out, but no word on root, it was 2.1 and it has a task manager app built in and it says it only has 325 mb of RAM but some ppl say that the other 187 mb of RAM is for graphics

all galaxy s has 512mb of ram but the OS cannot recognize all of the 512mb UNTIL froyo update
I'm sure you all know this but its highly likely that when 2.2 comes to the fascinate that the root hack won't work. So if you're already on the fence about rooting decide quick, personally I love root but some ppl don't use the benefits of root

Sprint told me this was a known issue and the problem is with Motorola software and are waiting for a update
I read somewhere bout a oem software upgrade that u could manually dl and install ...and further read that they already started implementing in a OTA ....my phone says its up to date...am I tight. Do I have the newest software? ??
If I do I have the newest software ....well the problem still happens....a few times a day....super frustrating

Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
there is no need for 2.3.5 it was a few bug fixes for the nexus s 4g. because to take an entire os (motoblur) and upgrade it to another version, even tho its only small changes requires huge amounts of coding and testing.. way not worth it. i would rather have ics then 2.3.5

On android central they said that (this is about other phones) "moto says that they have to evaluate that on a phone by phone basis, and that they have worked with Sprint to come up with a solution that's favorable to everyone involved." And no it's not unlocked out of the box.

Too much beggin and problems with this phone that is why I am considering going with a Samsung phone.
BY the time ICS (way later sometime this year) gets official and with a locked bootloader what is the point anymore?

Unless you're already stuck with a locked bootloader on 2.3.5, than when official ICS drops for our device, I guarantee that users will be able to flash the official update with a modified unlocked bootloader!
Also, when official ICS does come out, that'll cure ALL out current minor issues with custom ROMs! To be really honest with you tho, the custom Jelly Bean ROMs we have out now in the development section are a TON more stable and usable than the ICS ROMs that we had previously!

We get it from HTC and they won't release it for 90 days. There is still a possibility that even if we get it it may not run correctly on the thunderbolt. We will see though.

The thunderbolt is the first phone on Verizon that has svdo which let's you talk and surf the internet at the same time even on 3g data. HTC and Verizon have both been protecting this technology by keeping sources closed indefinitely on the radio software for one. Since a lot of the sources are closed devs don't have interest in finding hacks and workarounds to deal with the lack of source. That's why a lot of the devs left this device. Even still though we have official ics and in a few months we should have the sources we need to build custom kernels that are needed for making a jb from.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Yeah I can understand the frustration from the devs. If we get it I'll enjoy it, if not then oh well not a big deal in my book. Still a good enough phone for my broke budget right now either way
