[Q] SII Roms with Chinese language support - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi There,
I recently received a UK update OTA from samsung that's put my on LPT firmware.
Unfortunately, it's also removed my Chinese language support for some reason.
I still want a stock ROM or close to it - anyone know if there is an easy way to tell if the ROM support DISPLAY language in English and Chinese.
Thanks,

not sure if this will totally help , but i suggest flash the cMIUI , it has got all the chinese language that you want

Thanks, but I'm not too keen on MIUI. Ran it on my HTC desire for a while. Whilst it has a lot of awesome, and I mean awesome features - I don't really want my phone to be an iphone and the lack of an app drawer kinda annoyed me.
Thanks anyway.

Hi,
I tried this ROM before and I'd say it's great furthermore with Chinese language support - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1717883
It's also built from a stock ROM.

thanks, I'm going to try it out.

[Q] Question for who installed Android 2.3.4 on SGS2,Does it Support reading Arabic?

I have an European Device with Arabic fonts installed , but it does not read Arabic even after updating to the last ( PDA:XWKF3 - PHONE:XXKE7 - CSC:XEUKD1 ).. still can't read Arabic .. so im wondering if i installed the new rom that i found on samfirmware I9100XXKG1 Android 2.3.4 , will it support Arabic reading or not
if your willing to help , please just open the bbc.co.uk/arabic/ or any Arabic site on the default system browser and tell us if its reading Arabic correctly ( that if you know arbaic ) or print the screen to us ..
Thanks in advance
Using Villainrom 2.0:
Looks the same in the default browser.
Thanks prodygee .. you saved me time. i was about to install the ROM ..
do you think they will ever release an update for SGS2 that would make the European devics at least just read arabic !
I'm not sure. I can't read Arabic, I can do Japanese, but I can't do better . Glad I could help you
yeah thanks you really helped .. its not reading arabic still .. may i ask what software you use for the screen capture ?
It works on my phone alright! The SGS2 has a built-in screencap utility. You need ot hold the home-button and press the unlock button quickly after that. You'll see a white border flash around the screen indicating it took a picture.
You can then view them in the gallery
awesome ! new trick that i was looking for ! ur the best
using arabic
you can install madmack rom to read write Arabic on a European SGS2. that is the case with me and it works flawlessly. It is basically taken from an SGS2 dump from the UAE I guess
only 2.3.3 can read arabic correctly for all the apps
if you need only browser on 2.3.4 you can use opera for connected letters
otherwise you need to use a released source firmware with modified libcore
madmack 1.5 works fine if you need a completely arabized phone with connected letters
Can you please answer my questions guys, thanks in advance:
1) So the 2.3.4 update will not include connected Arabic letters on browser, gmail, messaging??!!
2) Does Madmacks ROM requires the device to be ROOTED?
3) If not, Am I gonna be able to buy apps from the market?
4) Does Madmack's ROM affects the battery?
Thanks
Ayhamov:
1. As of this write up Samsung hasn't released Arabic firmware based on Android 2.3.4
2. If you want to flash the latest european firmware XXKG5 or XXKG6 yet have arabic letters connected then you would need a special kernel which allows you to update/overwrite a few files in the system folder, so definately you will *need to root* your device (I recommend using CF-Root's kernel corresponding to your flashed ROM to get the job done)
MadMack and I have released a package which you could flash using ClockWorkMod (CWM) recovery. I am attaching the latest version that I have here.
3. As for buying software from the market; no it's not affected by rooting.
4. To my knowledge the battery life is not affected by arabization, however, to achieve the task a process of deodex'ing the system framework program is performed which disables some acceleration in the system/browser. we don't have a workaround which maintains the performance yet. Some efforts have been put into getting the job done with maintaining the performance but till date we don't have a success.
Good luck,
Brightidea.

[Q] Norwegian Stock Keyboard

I've sucessfully flashed
XXKG6
Android 2.3.4
This package has: PDA:XXKG6| PHONE: XXKG6| CSC:XEUKD1
Download:
XXKG6 Stock Kernel:
Password:
and rooted via CF-Root
Thing is I cant find a thread that would guide me to installing stock samsung keyboards. I need the scandinavian keyboards and dictionarys...
can anyone help or point me in the right direction?
I've never managed to install Norwegian keyboards/dictionaries on ROMs without them, haven't got the know-how. Never found a guide/tutorial for installing extra languages either, but can't say I've looked too much..
Leo's custom ROM Revolution has Norwegian support for KG6 in the newest version - 2.5 - I believe (haven't tried it yet, still on 2.4).
I got Better Keyboard from the market, it's grown on me so much it's my default now.
Lykke til
Well wow, way to bump, but anyways, you think this'll work on ICS?
You see, I kind of have a problem with finding a replacement keyboard, with Norwegian Layout and the three scandinavian letters "Æ Ø Å"
Sure, they're there but not as their own button.
And I couldn't extract the stock samsung keyboard from the Android 4.0.3 "Samsung Version" either :C
For the stock keyboard go here:

Not sure about Norweigen layout though

Arabic support for Thunderbolt on 2.3.4?

Hi All,
First of all, I DID do a search and nothing turned up. I also don't know which sub-forum this needs to go under, so mods please feel free to move it to a better location.
Note: I know there are other Android phones out there that have Arabic language packs, but it was not at all clear if those same packs would work on the Thunderbolt, and even less clear if they would work on the STOCK 2.3.4 update.
The basics:
Thunderbolt running 2.3.4 STOCK rooted and ready to go.
ClockworkMod recovery installed
So far the ONLY way for me to read Arabic properly is using Opera Mobile. However this only works for browsing sites like aljazeera.net. The system itself doesn't support Arabic entirely with apps like the Webkit browser, and text messaging showing the letters in LTR rather than RTL and disjoint.
Since I have a rooted device running the latest official stock rom (2.3.4) I figured now is the time to investigate.
Can anyone please help? Thanx
bump, i would appreciate knowing this as well. anyway to get arabic support without rooting or changing rom?
there isn't really something arabic specific for the thunderbolt, but you can download fonts/keyboards to give support.
font wise, download "Mirsal" from Market, then get a keyboard like "Ibrahim Arabic Keyboard". it will help with sms/txt, email, etc...

[Q] How can I install the Hebrew language on a custom ROM in my (rooted) Galaxy S2?

I bought a Samsung Galaxy S2 from Cellcom, and the first thing I did with it was to root it and install CyanogenMod 7.1. For some reason, CyanogenMod doesn't like Cellcom simcards, and it had a lot of problems (apparently this is a known problem within the community). After that I tried a lot of different ROMs, and I ended up staying with VillainRom 3.0.
The thing is that I NEED to be able to write in Hebrew, and the ROM doesn't come with Hebrew language installed. I usually never start threads but I already tried a couple of solutions I saw in several forums and none of them helped (one even ****ed up my ROM and made me had to install it again). I don't need to have everything in Hebrew, I just need to be able to write emails and SMS in Hebrew. Can anybody help me? Is it possible to install different languages on the side?
Thanks!
EDIT: I just realized that you can download Anysoft Keyboard with the Hebrew expansion pack from the Market. Don't mind me, I suck ***** etc.

Add more interface languages?

Hi there, my uncle just got the galaxy note.
He would like the chinese interface language.
Does anyone know if any of the custom rom already has it built in?
Does anyone know if the official ICS rom has it built in?
If not, is it possible to add the files manually with the phone rooted?
Thank you
