First you need a rom that supports changing of boot animation. If you have stock, then forget about it. You also need a root browser like Solid Explorer Beta 2, Es file explorer etc.
If you have a rom that supports it, then do following->
Download the bootanimation you want. It will be generally "bootanimation.zip".
Go to folder "System/media" and replace the "bootanimation.zip" with new one. And after that, go to properties or whatever and change its permissions to READ WRITE-READ- READ.
If you want to change sound, then its in system/etc named as "PowerOn.ogg"
Hope this helps

The given instructions are wrong .
Zip does not exist as stock .
As posted Bootanimation in themes section .
Kernel that supports boot animation ZIP files required .

Hey I wanna ask if you guys can provide me with stock bootanimation? Since I just flashed CF-Root (after flashing XXKPH) and it replaced my stock bootanimation with its own. So yeah, thanks in advance who can provide me with it.

CF-root IS supposed to replace your stock bootanim . I'm sorry but there is NO way to go back to stock .
I am asking for stock "bootanimation.zip". I know IT is supposed to change my bootanimation.

Your bootanimation.zip = bootanimation.qmg
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA App
You both are wrong.
What I did was that I copied "bootsamsung.qmg" from "/system/media/" to "/data/local/" and deleted "bootanimation.zip" from there and it worked.

[Jellybean Framework/Transition Mod][CM9]

You'll need: FXP CM9 rom.zip
a working brain
WinRAR
Open the FXP.zip
navigate to /system/framework
replace the framework-res.apk with the apk in the attachment below
put the zip file into sd card
flash it via recovery
no need for wipe or anything
Will it work on stock rom?
Can't we just replace the framework-res.apk using Root explorer?
Can we have screenshots?

No, CM-Framework and Stock-Framework are completely different things, but you can test if you want

I think it'll do it (cause flashing it via CWM is also just replacing the original with the new one)
If not, you can access your internal Memory with ADB even in bootloop!
(Only with CyanogenMod)
FAQ
1.Will it work on stock ROM? -------- No.
2. Can't we just replace the framework-res.apk using Root explorer? --------- No.Just like replacing systemui.apk,if you replace it with root explorer, you'll have to flash the rom again, because it'll cause bootloop (Maybe) JUST TO BE SAFE.
3.Can we have screenshots? ------- it's an animation...SCREENSHOTS?
4.Downloading,anyone try this? ------- hmm.....ME?

You can't really screenshot a transition
I installed it on FXP147 CM9 on XPERIA P.
It will boot loop if you hit replace
If you first rename the ''nameoffile".apk as "nameoffile".apk.bak, then the dialog won't repeat nameoffile has stopped working
So just dont replace Rename old file
Just rename it as.apk.bak copy your new apk, longpress on new apk>properties>set permissions 'rw-r--r--'
If in case your device is in bootloop, reboot to recovery and set permissions
If it's still in bootloop then either the file is not of your phone(apk might be say of sxp which you pasted on sxu) then you gotta go for restoring back up or flashing Rom

awesome and this is what I'm looking for ages.
But some app can start with this framework, for example Ayakashi Ghost Guild game didn't run as always and I need to use ics framework back
any solutions?

Q: Problems with custom bootanimations

Hi, i first flash CWM_CustomBootanimation_Enable.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1897969 and then downloaded droid animation from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1895327 and copied bootanimation.zip first to data/local and it did not work and then copied it to system/media but did not work either (i tested ICS and jellybean animations). I know that custom bootanimations is enabled because boot animation is different but i cant get those animations to work. Any tips or am i doing something wrong?
Anyone can help me with this?
Galaxy s3 uses a qmg format bootanimation if I'm correct. The zip files wont work on the s3. Maybe try looking for a qmg file or convert it somehow?

That thread is for I9300 animations and its said there that they would work just by putting those files there and enabling boot animation via cfw so should't they be compatible?
The Boot Animation thread in Themes and Apps has custom boot animation enabler .
Just follow the instructions posted .
location is System/ Media for bootanimation.zip

Boot up sounds not working.

Hi guys.
Need some help, using root explorer pro I have put an mp3 file into store/media/ui named 'PowerOn.ogg'
However it doesn't play when I start my phone up !
I had this problem before and I fixed it (somehow) but I cannot remember exactly what I did, now since flashing a new ROM I encountered the problem again.
What can I do? thanks.
I am running Omega v6 with whatever Kernel came with it.
WHile I am here also, is there anyway to get the lockscreen off Jellybean 4.1.2 onto Jellybean 4.2.2 that I am currently running?
I miss my ripple effect

Convert the file to .ogg and paste it into the folder again. Should work.
For the next time, questions go to Q&A section, not General.

Galaxy S4 CWMBoot custom Boot Animation

Had this custom boot animation for the Galaxy S4 made from JaeKar99 over at DroidRzr.com >> http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/user/35656-jaekar99/
This is all his work, I just asked for something and he made it. All credit goes to him.
Installation:
Must be rooted
Download the CWMBoot.zip attached
Unzip and extract files.
Using a root explorer, navigate to />system>media and rename bootsamsungloop.qmg and bootsamsung.qmg by placing .bak on the end.
Copy bootsamsungloop.qmg and bootsamsung.qmg that you previously extracted and place in />system>media
Reboot and enjoy your new animation.
An image of what the boot looks like is attached.
Love this!
Thanks!

No; the CWM in the file name stands for clockworkmod recovery not cyanogenmod. If you ever used Clockworkmod recovery its the progress animation that is depicted in this boot animation.
