CyanogenMod 9 for Huawei Mediapad (15.08.) - sdcard issue - Huawei MediaPad, T-Mobile SpringBoard

Hello,
I noticed an empty directory at /mnt/sdcard after installtion of CM9. All of my data (internal storage + external storage) is now in /mnt/sdcard2. Here I see folders like 'Android', 'data', 'DCIM' etc., which I actually expected to find in /mnt/sdcard (internal storage location). In addition to that this folder houses also my data of the external storage, i. e. my sdcard.
As soon as I unmount my external card, the folder /mnt/sdcard2 appears to be completely empty, even the content of the internal storage is gone. Moreover, the folder /mnt/sdcard is also empty. Where did this data vanish?!? Strangely enough, the rom works just fine apart from the aforementioned problem.
Is this the default behavior or did I go wrong during flashing/setting up TWRP?
Best regards,
Michael

Check what is set to default storage in settings - storage/memory (depending on locale). Possibly something went wrong when you tried to change it.
Internal storage is stored in /data/share

Have you tried using root explorer and checking the mnt folder?

Where to find SD card files

Hi,
I need to factory reset my phone and have used App List Backup to genereate the list of apps to be restored. However, I cannot find the file and the sdcard folder on my phone is empty.
Anyone able to help me out here? I think I've backed up everything else, but I'd really like to get this file out just in case...
Cheers!
Once you mount your phone, you'll see two mounted drives. The folder 'External_SD' is empty on the 'internal mount'. Select the other drive to see the data.
Have you checked the folder 'data' or 'android'?
Are you rooted? My external SD is always visible in /mnt/emmc Internal is visible as /mnt/sdcard

Thanks, but it wasn't there. Managed to get the files by removing the sd card and running it again. It then created a folder on the root of the main storage

[Q] Internal storage mounts as /mnt/sdcard?

I'm not sure if this is normal behavior for Android, but it was annoying the hell out of me that the internal memory was mounting to /mnt/sdcard. At first I figured this was just because I didn't have an actual sd card. Then I got one, and it got mounted to /mnt/emmc. From what i read about other devices this seems backwards? I couldn't get some apps to use the emmc storage.
What I finally did was copy all my data from internal storage to the sdcard and then swapped the two mount points in /system/etc/vold.fstab. Everything seems to have gone better than expected. I now see my 32gb microsd as the SDCARD in Storage and the 11gb internal storage shows up as additional storage. Is there any problem with doing this? I'm still not entirely clear on where /mnt/sdcard/external_sd fits into this.
Here is my vold.fstab after I edited it.
Code:
# internal sdcard
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/emmc 11 /devices/platform/s3c-mshci.0/mmc_host/mmc0/mmc0
# external sdcard
dev_mount emmc /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/platform/s3c-sdhci.2/mmc_host/mmc1
# USB storage device
dev_mount usbdisk /mnt/usbdisk auto /devices/platform/s3c_otghcd/usb
The INTERNAL SDCARD is your BUILT IN MEMORY and SHOULD BE listed as mnt/sdcard. This should be your 11Gb internal memory.
The EXTERNAL SDCARD should be listed as mnt/emmc. This should be the REMOVABLE sd card from the battery compartment.
Not sure but I would guess that you MAY HAVE ISSUES with your setup. With HOW you listed emmc I can see your on cm7. In cm7 there is a setting to change the names/location of your cards. Since you had problems I am guessing it is/was reading backwards from the get go. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks for the reply. I guess it was working as intended from the beginning. I haven't had any problems with this while in cm7, but one of my objectives was to get cwm to use the external sdcard for backups. Of course my change had no effect what so ever on where cwm is looking for the backup folder. I'm rolling back my change with my tail between my legs. I wasn't able to find the option in CM7 you spoke of.
This is an annoying problem. I have not been able to find any system info widgets that can display the memory status of the ext_sd folder (external sd card). Its even more confusing because the internal "sd card" is also referred to as usb storage while the ext_sd is referred to as SD Card on some screens.

To see if the button is ticked got to MENU, SETTINGS, CHANOGENMOD SETTINGS,APPLICATION,USE INTERNAL STORAGE
If while your at normal settings if you put them back already and it is ticked in the box, then untick it and reboot. If it is not ticked then tick the box and reboot and see if that fixes it. If your still backwards then AGAIN untick it and reboot. Sometimes settings can look correct but be kind of stuck until you toggle it. Just throwing it out how I would check out if I had your issue. Hope it helps

That's exactly what I needed. Thank you!
actually you could have done that all in the Cyanogen setting's. I had mine set that the /mnt/sdcard was my actual SDCARD... problem became that everything was being installed to my SDcard. I prefer my SDcard as my music/picture/movie storage.
if you are using CM7.1 it's in Setting -> Cyanogen Settings - > Application
The one you wanna change is Use Internal Storage checkmark if you want to change
Yes, That's what RockRatt said above. It works perfectly. Thanks!

[Q] AOKP system can't read external storage

Sorry to repost this question, but I've been banging my head over it for too long! I can access both the internal and external storage through file browsers, but the Android system/apps can't seem to access the external storage. Tried this on CM10, AOKP 10-11, and now AOKP 10-17. Even tried changing from Joker's recovery to TWRP, thinking it had to do with the formatting/mounting. I've tried both SD and EMMC as primary in Option's chooser. Nothing works...
At one pont when going from CM9 to CM10/AOKP I did format /emmc... could that have done something? Also, I notice the new JB mounts the cards to /storage/sdcard0 or sdcard1. If I look in the /mounts folder I see /sdcard (which right now maps to my internal) but no /emmc or any other link to the external storage. Also, when I look in settings-storage, I see the system, "sdcard" (which is internal right now), and "internal storage" (which is my external), but only the first two have details on what types of files (apps/music/pictures/etc). The last partition (my external) is all grey
I've deleted all the .nomedia files, cleared app data in gallery/music/media storage... help!
The storage which u use as a main is called sdcard0 and other well called 1 u should find them in /storage folder not the mount

Storage not mounted properly.

Hi everyone.
After some snafu while trying to update Gapps to the latest package, which wrecked my phone ;
I re-flashed the ROM (CM11.0 from Maclaw's), doing full wipe of dalvik/cache/data/system. I reinstalled the previously working Gapps package.
Everything is working fine, but the way the storages are mounted is not correct. For instance, Gallery won't display pictures from the external sdcard.
Yet, if I use file manager, I can access it, and all my personal files are still there. When connecting to the PC, internal storage takes me to the actual internal storage being used by the phone but external storage appears empty.
/sdcard points to /storage/emulated/legacy it contains my old files from before flashing anew.
tree of /storage :
/storage
---/emulated
------/0 <-- this seems to be the same folder as legacy
------/clockworkmod <-- never mind, it's just there, empty. A remnant of my previous recovery
------/legacy
------/obb <-- empty
---/sdcard0 <-- redirects to /storage/emulated/legacy
---/sdcard1 <-- external sdcard
I hope I'm being clear enough. Basically, external sdcard doesn't seem to get mounted at a correct place which would allow apps to read from it.
While in recovery, if I go to the file manager,
external sd card is mounted in /external_sd
/sdcard is the internal storage
/data/media is the same as /storage/emulated as before. ./0 is populated, ./legacy is not.
So, basically, I should find a way to mount the external card to /data/media right?
Edit : I kept trying stuff. I created a folder from my PC on the apparently empty sd card, and put a photo in it. It displays in the gallery, and the folder is at the root of the sd card, just like every other folder that are not detected by either my phone and PC. The hell is that about?

Folder not mounting

My galaxy s5 started showing memory full when all storage programs said there was about 5 gb left.
I downloaded foldermount and it said it found the issue so it was going to repair it.
Well after I rebooted. The internal sd card(phone memory) is not mounting.
When connected to the PC, it shows 128mb.
on ES FIle explorer SDCARD shows "???" and when I attempt to open it ask what file I want to open it with, but with the program storage analyzer it finds the "data" folder just fine and lists all the files and folders within it.
In the phone settings options, it can show the amount of memory being used along with the media, mp3, apps, so the Folder is still there along with all the info, it is simply not mounting properly?
Thank you.
UPDATE: I found the path of where all my files are at, but the phone is not mounting it as the internal storage?
It is located at data/media/0 and mnt/sdcard0 or mnt/sdcard1 are missing.
* Aside from Phone being rooted, there were no other modifications
* Phone is running on original OS(as opposed to roms or such)
*There is not an external sd card in the phone
Folder mount will not do anything for you really without an SD card. After you use it to clear space you need to unmount all the folder it mounted to view what is actually in the folders. If not it will show the folder that it is linked to and look like it never worked. Changing your system data to SD data in your case keeps it in internal memory and does not free it up. You need to use folder mount with a SD card for it to help you. Saved me over 500Mb with it on my s5

Sorry, long story short,
My phone mnt/sdcard and sdcard links are no longer there. Is there a way to recreate the links? Certain apps are still able to function because they are using the actual link, device/media/ect, ect, /0/ folders as opposed to mnt/sdcard/
I saw on another forum that
su
echo mkdir /storage/sdcard0 > /data/local/userinit.sh
chmod 700 /data/local/userinit.sh
reboot
May help, but not sure if it is only for roms and not for original OS.
On another forum there was talk about recreating a syslink?
Solved:
Simply went to "system/bin" and erased the "sdcard" file and renamed the file "sdcard.backup" to "sdcard". Rebooted and it solved the issue.
