Q: Why cant we change the LCD density on the Prime? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

using Rom toolbox, the LCD portion of the build.prop is gone where as in my skyrocket it shows just fine as well as on my brothers Galaxy tab 2 7 inch.
if i use LCD modder pro to change it from the default to anything higher or lower then my Prime just boots to a black screen.
has anyone ever successfully changed their DPI settings on their primes?
all i wanted to do was enable the Phone UI instead of the tablet UI.
it almost feels like theres no real way to do this since Rom toolbox doesn't even show that section to change.

nothing?
i find it odd that no one cares about changing LCD density on the prime.
even searching for LCD or LCD Density or Rom Toolbox, there isn't even much regarding the subject in any of the sub forums.

I changed mine by editing build.prop.
Worked fine.

what did you change yours to then?
i have tried going up and down form the default and anything i choose always results in booting to black screen.

120 as this is a density that is acceptable for Google Play to work.
I've since changed it back, as I didn't like the obvious scaling on the bottom bar.
Other than that it was perfect though.
Just change the line ro.sf.lcd_density=160 to ro.sf.lcd_density=120
I didn't use an app.

140 should be safe for the less eye gifted
120 should be like Desire I heard (used it for a half year too)
btw get some nice fonts with that like ubuntu, depends on which rom you are using though

DPI into RES.

hello again this time i just wanted to know what dpi is equal too in resolution terms..
i want to know what 80dpi means in resolution so could someone answer me like
80dpi=1280x720 or 80dpi=XXXXxXXX can someone say what exactly is it??
The dpi gives you information about the relation between resolution and size of the screen.
So a huge screen (50") with just a 800*600 resolution has a really low DPI, and so the picture has quite a low quality as you could se every pixel. Modern phones have quite a huge resolution on a really small size. So some even have such a high DPI that you can't even see a single pixel just with your eyes which means a much better quality.
But you cant say ABC-DPI mean X-Y-resolution, its just a relation between size and relation.
oh ok well i manually changed my aces dpi to 80 and it says its resolution now is 960x640 so is that good or bad?? plus i got an 100% replica of the ics 4.0(its a theme) so im really lovin my ace now

Increase LCD Density?

So I currently have a Galaxy Note and want to move to the SG3. My issue is the screen being smaller and my vision not being great so I was wondering if I could move it up to 340.
I realize typically the LCD Density is lowered but I prefer larger fonts...
Thanks on advanced.
You don't need to change LCD density, there's an option to increase fonts and if you install a custom rom or launcher you can also customize the size of the icons as well. I wouldn't mess with the LCD density not even sure that applies to our phones. Maybe someone else can chime in with more knowledge.

Screen Crispness....?

Anyone notice that the resolution shows 2k on this device but the icons and pictures and other things dont look as crisp as they should? They look sort of blown out.

I noticed it on my Axon 7 phone which has a QHD display too.
icons are probably incorrect resolution, 2k screen isn't that popular. Also you might have smart resolution on, (i never notice it and therefore doubt it does anything at all)

I have TAB S 10.5" (Lineage OS 14.x) and M5 10.8" (latest) ... If I set dpi 800 in dev options, I see zero difference in sharpness compare to 2 tablets (2k oled pentile vs. 2k ips true), oled is vivid but it is not crispier

technically, the IPS screen would be better, as it has RGB layout instead of pentile.
But the resolution on both is high enough you probably can't tell the difference anyway.
I think its strange youtube will never give an option of more than 1080p

Currently the "smallest width" is set to 627 dpi. Would you recommend boosting that up to 800 dpi then?

I came from TAB S and 800 dpi ("smallest width") gave me same experience. Only issue is that, every reboot reset this dev value to 756. (+ in settings/display view mode: small; font size: normal)

Quick question, how do you get it to stick after reboot? Mine keeps going back to 627 dpi.

I boost mine to 915 (I think!), though I have to bump up the font size if I do that. Having come from a Tab S, that seems closer to a similar use of screen real estate (e.g. in YouTube, it shows 5 videos per row on the home page). Unfortunately, it means the other settings can no longer be accessed, so I need to reboot if I want to change anything
I'm surprised that more people aren't complaining about this. I think Huawei have simply taken the interface from the 8.4 version without any changes, so things are just bigger all round but you get no advantage to choosing the 10.8 version

Someone had posted just last week that the M5 feels like a large phone and not a tablet, likely due to it not identifying itself as a tablet. This causes annoyance with some apps as they draw as if they are on a phone, which when stretched to a tablet screen not not good. Instead of making use of the extra screen space and resolution, things just becomes hard to use.

I have mine set to 1250 dpi and I love it. So much real-estate, looks clean, higher quality and since its on the Resurrection Remix Rom, the dpi stays at that custom number even after reboot. Some things are hard to tap at times but I use GMD gestures and control the tablet with gestures and tasker

The Resurrection Remix Rom makes things easy to set a better resolution that works well for the bigger screen real-estate ☺

Check out my latest response with pictures included. I use RR rom with 1250 dpi and everything works atleast 99.9% accurately for me and allows me to see things better, even on reboot

Look up vanced youtube apk on google. Default youtube on this tablet does not use a specific codec that is required "VP9". Vanced youtube has this codec in its settings that supports 2k option videos

No thanks, not rooting my device. Had a very bad experience with rooting a while back which bricked a brand new phone and got no help here.

Samsung galaxy tab s7 plus how to change screen resolution

Does anyone know how to change the screen resolution on the tab s7 plus to make everything on my screen smaller.

You can change font size but again thats not resolution. Your tablet is running highest resolution by default so you can't increase it

You don't understand resolution. Its not the same as zoom but zoom is what you want to lower.
you could go into developer options and change zoom manually if you wan't a more granular control.

Lol I am not the OP. I do understand screen resolution. I've got a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and a Galaxy Tab S7+.
On the Note, you can change resolution between QHD and HD+ and even 720 I think. On the tablet there are no such options.

That's there on the phone mostly to save battery life(personally never use it), on a small screen it might be an ok trade off. I don't think many people are dishing out 800+ on this tablet to run at 1080p, just to save 30 min of battery life. There are apps in the app store that will let you do this. BE VERY CAREFUL you can SOFT BRICK your tablet.
Edit: Did not read the full post before answering. The DPI setting is not a resolution change, you guys are right. Sorry... Will leave the answer below anyway as it might help someone.
----------
You can change the DPI (named "Minumim width") on the Developer Settings.
I know that on most phones you can go as high as 597 without triggering tablet mode.
On a tablet the sky (and the graphical performance and glithces) is the limit, but i've tested here on my Galaxy Tab S7 and could go so far as 1800 without big issues.

Thanks for this, but could you please clarify if this would work from the device itself without needing root?
I am rooted therefore I don't know...Anyway, "su" command is for calling root permission on linux so I think root is needed.

Yeah that's what I suspected because the su command didn't work when I tried it.
Thank you very much for your reply by the way.
No problem...actually, most of tweaks or upgrades needs rooted devices therefore some questions about non rooted devices are obsolete.
Therefore, when you see some cool feature or tweak, expect root permission.
How do you make the MW change stick/permanent? Every time I change the dpi it is different when I next check.
