Hello,
For a while now I have not have acess to editors choice apps nor top apps. Here is the fix.
1. Place the zip file at this link into the Main storage of device.
2. Take a look into the ROM zip file you flashed earlier or you are using ( system/app) and delete phonesky.apk and marketupdater.apk or vending.apk
( please make sure you have a separate saved ROM zip file bfore editing. just a precaution).
3.place the phonesky.apk in the zip file above or at the link ( system/app to get, to phonesky.apk) into the ROM zip file you are using.
4.Boot into CWM and Reflash ROM zip file. reboot device.
5.Boot into CWM and flash the zip file in the link above.
6. You are done. you should see the image attached to the thread, that's the full gplay look.
Please enjoy.
Thanks

I got clockworkmod working fine, but I am unable to loan ROMs. Whenever I downloand a ROM it opens in muiltiple files and it also happens with TNT, Thi is where Im stuck
Step 3.
Copy whatever ROM you wish to install (it should be a .zip file) to the ROMs folder on your tablet. (Leave it zipped, Clockwork will install it from the .zip file as is). trying to get VEGan 5.1 final
Note: If the ROM you downloaded has multiple files, look for the one named “update.zip” and rename it to whatever you want (something to help you differentiate it from other ROMs), then copy that to the tablet. If an “update.zip” doesn’t exist, and you’re lost…read through that ROM’s thread and see if anybody else asked about it…if not then you probably should (on that ROM’s thread…each one is different).
I cant fiqure how to get the update.zip. When I do open the files i get 3 files
META_INF,boot, and system. I tried to copy and paste all three files in the ROMs, but it never show the update.zip
You don't need an update.zip with clockworkmod recovery... you just need the rom that is zipped and can be named anything.
Stop unzipping the rom you are downloading and just copy it to your device. Install that with clockworkmod recovery.

you've answered your own question, the rar or zip file you downloaded might be in diff names, but always leave it in zip format. if in rar, unrar and the zip file should be in it.
in clockwork recovery, you can update by update.zip or choose your own zip

That is my problem, if automaticly unzips when it downloads. I am not sure if its my windows setting becaue I am unable to download TNT lite because I keep getting " windows can no opem" message. Is there a way i can prevent it from unzipping? Thanks BTW
maybe use a diff browser to download or right click on link and "save as"
You might be hitting open instead of save ...
down load it direct to your Gtab
Download the file directly to your tab. Use ES file explorer to move it to your SD card if necessary. Reboot in to clock work - choose file from SD card-select it and install.
I have Criskelo Rom V32 a i want to install back any of origo systems apps
http://samsunggalaxysforums.com/showthread.php/4811-Safe-to-remove-applications-list?
How can I so that? Thanks
1. Use PC to unzip your ROM.
2. Extract the apps you want from system/app folder
3. Copy to sdcard
3. Use a root file explorer to copy or move to system/app directory on phone (mount r/w before paste)
4. Reboot into CWM recovery
5. Wipe cache and advanced/dalvik
6. Reboot
Or,
Just reflash ROM and no wipe. This will lose any themes and mods though.

You could modify the custom rom and add the apps you want then install the custom rom .
Open zip file with win rar System/apps add what you want .

Do you mean unzip rom in pc, insert apps and then again put to the phone?

Download custom rom to PC
Open rom with winrar but do not unzip just open .
Go to system double click to open
Go to Apps double click to open
Go to ADD and add each apk file .
Or even delete unwanted via delete button.
Close winrar copy zip to sd card and flash .
Above can be carried out with zip on sd card and mass storage usb connection also .

Hi!
I want to update apk's on my phone and I wonder if I take out apks, edit them (yeah I remember to decompile and compile) and put them in a update.zip, move it to my SD-card, boot into recovery and choose apply sd-card: update.zip (or something like that), will the apk files in the zip folder update the apk's with the same name on my phone?
I want to update apk files by flashing. Can I do that by following what I wrote above?
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Simen
It should work. But u need to give in zip info about direction (eg. System/app) and permissions (for system apps)
And i think that u should use install .zip from sd card (or similar) not update.zip
Look here: Create your own UPDATE.ZIP maybe it helps u

Hey,
Today I used a ROM to flash my mobile (Samsung J5 2016 edition, model: J510FN) and I just used the perfect ROM, and it fits perfectly. But when I try to turn on WiFi it goes back swipe to off automatically when I swipe it to on.
I used this rom (version v1.1 because v2 and v3 were gone and bad): https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j5/development/rom-light-stock-rom-v1-t3467865
Someone knows what to do? I'm a beginner, so please explain it good. I have everything btw like Odin, TWRP, latest SuperSU, etc.
Please help.
Thanks
From your stock rom Copy the folder named Permissions from /system/etc and paste it at the same location in your new downloaded rom.
DONOT delete the existing folder , just replace the files.
Good Luck Cheers

You mean an img file , right?
If you have twrp or cwm backup of your stock rom , you can extract it from that file(ext4.system.tar.a) , if you dont have a twrp/cwm backup , you can try to flash stock rom from that img file and then copy necessary files into sdcard and then re flash your new rom and paste the existing files.
Good luck/

No, its an md5 file. Inside the md5 file (when I open it with winrar) it only shows hidedcache files etc and also boot.img
I need to have go to the patch (system/etc/permissions

Then you might need to flash your stock rom first and then copy the necessary files.
I have an Mediatek device , steps to troubleshoot are same , but I have a zip of my stock rom created to access stock files when ever i need them.
I would advise you to do the same for future troubleshooting..
Good Luck mate

Permission folder worked for me , but i would insist you to copy the entire /system partition as backup once you have flashed the stock rom just in case.
If permission folder doesnt work , then try replacing files starting with wlan from /system/lib/modules from stock to port
Do only when permissions folder doesnt work.
Quick scenario: I am working on a Nook Simple Touch UK ROM zip (now obsolete), trying to get from it the essentials that make it "UK" and move them into/replace similar files (mostly images and documents, but maybe one or two system apps) to the current US version of the ROM so that everything will function properly, but the ROM will have the look and feel (and localization options) of the obsolete UK ROM. There's not a lot to change.
The zips don't open for inspection properly in anything I've tried except 7zip. I can move/overwrite files from one ROM to the other, but there does seem to be a slight compression going on and I have no idea how to stop this. In WinRAR I could, but I don't see any similar option in 7zip. Then the zip contents go into a CWM flashable zip.
Preparing the CWM zip with no changes to the current US ROM gives an error-free flash and a functioning result. But if I change even one file (like the boot splash screen--same name, same file size--until moved), the flash fails almost immediately.
I asked someone about internal checksums before ROMs would install but they did not think there were any on these ROMs. Now I wonder. I don't see anything that looks like a checksum or even a "to do" list.
Have I missed some fundamental step or am I using my tools incorrectly (or the wrong tools)? One last thought, these are "update" zips, if that makes any difference, so on their own they would not wipe user data, for example.
Edit: I think I've got it!
1. Unzip (not just "open") both zips with WinRAR (7zip would not extract the update zips for me)
2. Drag alternate versions of files from one folder to the other
3. Zip up with 7zip
4. Open CWM update zip (just has META-INF folder) and ROM update zip with 7zip
5. Drag contents of ROM update zip to CWM zip.
6. Copy new CWM zip to CWM card and flash.
7. SMILE!
