Hey guys. Recently I installed a new rom all went well and I rebooted for the second time after the set up. Now my phone just shows the white hero on black background. Vibrates once or twice and then just stays there.. the sd card is completely inaccessible. I can get to fastboot and have the following info there:
Hero cvt ship s-on
HBoot-1.76.007 (hero1000)
Mirop-010f
Touchpanel-syn0104
Radio-6.35.17.03
Aug 4 2009,19:43:30
I can boot to recovery:
CWM - based recovery v5.0.2.8
In recovery nothing works and the phone will try to boot if u don't move up and down
It won't mount the ad card for external storage, it won't wipe or do anything related to the sd.
When I connect to the pc I can hear windows doing the "ding" but nothing pops up and the device doesn't show.
Any help would be appreciated.
Rip out your SD from your phone, plug it into your PC and put a ROM on it, flash it, if you cant wipe or anything flash it without wiping, if it works then do the wipe and reflash. I would recommend you to use CM7 stock unmodded. If that doesnt work get the RUU for your device and flash it ...
Thanx but it doesn't work. When I go to fastboot it says "No image or wrong image".
I can not extract the .IMG from a RUU as the pc doesnt detect the phone.
Fastboot probably doesnt work since your phone is S-ON, you need to S-OFF it to flash custom .img's. When your phone goes to HERO on boot, in left top corner does it show FASTBOOT USB ?
Nope it doesn't. Shouldn't my phone be S-Off when its rooted?
No, when it's rooted that just allows you to use flash_image to flash recovery to recovery partition. S-OFF is needed to flash .img's to partitions directly. If you want to flash an image then you need S-OFF. If you want to flash a .zip via CMW you dont need S-OFF
OK so firstly how do I get it to S-Off and secondly how do I get a Img that I can flash?
To get S-OFF go to http://www.htcdev.com/ or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1471460
I HAVE NOT TESTED EITHER, SINCE I DONT USE IT, YOU ARE FLASHING THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. Just to say . If this goes wrong you can just use your phone to wipe your ass
Lol Thanx man! As it is, its pretty damn useless so anything is worth a try!
If you manage to S-OFF i think it will be solvable
I hope so, although its still a struggle to do.

I was running ZR3Dv2.4b smoothly and tried to use boot manager to boot MIUI. MIUI ran fine, but I could not boot back. I tried to flash a new rom and it would still only boot MIUI. It said data, system, and boot are all unmounted? But said image flashed succesfully. I can remount system and data, but no option for boot. Now I cant even boot back to even MIUI. All I get is the HTC screen.
I also tried to download the first posted link for a 2.17 ruu from this thread; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24268786&postcount=209
Bootloader finished checking it and quickly says wrong zip and brings me back to main bootloader screen.
Please help me us my phone again!
Did you try fastbooting into your recovery. 4ext leaves a copy of the boot.img on your sd card. If you have a sd card reader you should try to extract it, place it on your pc and fastboot into it.
Coming from sense to aosp and back and forth can cause all kinds of headaches.
I tried to get fastboot usb to pop up when i plug the cord in, but it does not. i have htc sync installed so i should have the drivers. i also have not done anything with phones using my pc, always just from the phone. is there a thread that could help me with this? i searched, i always search, first time i couldnt find an answer!

Have you tried a nandroid restore? I believe I've ram across the problem before and my fix was mounting USB I'm recovery and deleting the boot manager folder, hope one of these options helps

I cant seem to connect my phone to my pc with fastboot usb or with usb storage in ext4 touch recovery. What software and device drivers do i need?
install htc sync and uninstall it I believe...
tried that, still says "windows does not recognize usb device"
I've had this happen on my 4g before. Your boot.IMG is borked. A nandroid restore will fix it.
Next time, click the create phone Rom button several times to ensure it took.

have you installed boot manager in MIUI from play store? You should boot phone ROM from it.
If you get stuck , all you need to do is flash update.zip located in bootmanger/phonerom folder from recovery, if you are s-on you can't flash the update.zip without booting recovery from fastboot or without using 4ext recovery.....
Next time do a little search outside xda too. The boot manager's site has a guide and faqs and solutions too.
if you had setup the zr3d rom with bootmanager, flash the same rom again and flash the update.zip.....see if that works
i cannot boot back into any rom. I tried everything in recovery. no matter what my device hangs on the htc screen.
Why not just reformat your sd after backing it up. Then reflash your recovery. Then do a full wipe and flash a rom.

I can get into recovery, I can flash images and use it just fine, why would i reflash it? also i flashed it from android so i wouldnt know where to begin to do so.
I have been searching for instructions (with download) on how to relock my bootloader via fastboot connected to a pc. But unable to find what I am looking for. If I can just relock the bootloader sprint will give me a new one.
So now my new problem is please direct me to the files, instructions and commands to relock my bootloader, and of course all the other good stuff.
Thank you all very much for your time spent helping me sort out this issue.
EDIT: I can get my phone to connect via the bootloader in "fastboot usb" mode, Its the PC end where I am lost.
what version of the phone do you have? gsm? cdma? what software version do you have and what hboot and recovery?

here... take this file im sending you and download it and save it in the same folder as your fastboot and adb files and once its saved there start your phone into the bootloader... the part where you get it to say fasyboot usb... then go to your computer and PM me from three ill give you further instructions to fix it and then relock it if you choose to
You don't flash an exe you run it from your pc while your phone is plugged in and on charge mode only. Also make sure usb debugging is checked. Also the reason why I suggest to flash a new recovery or reflash your current recovery is that sometimes recoveries can become corrupt. Just because you can flash doesn't mean your recovery is functioning the way it should. So rather than try to figure out if your recovery is corrupt it takes like 5min to reflash it. That way you rule out your recovery as being the culprit.

Well I am sitting here in fastboot usb via the bootloader with no knowledge of how to flash, unlock/lock, or what to do now for anything via fastboot usb.

I have tried searching all the forums and can't seem to get or understand the answer. I had my evo 3d unlocked using the htc method and last night used the wire trick to obtain s-off. It worked first try and up I am now s-off but stuck in a boot loop. It turns on says HTC and then reboots and does the same thing over and over. I use the volume and power button and I am able to get into fast boot and see the following:

Recovery
Yes I can get into recovery without a problem. I just can't figure out what rom to flash and exactly how to do it? I know this is probably very simple but I'm lost and can't seem to figure out how to flash a rom. I was told if I flash a gsm one by mistake I could brick my phone so I'm looking for any tutorials I can find. Thanks for your quick response.

I will try and write you a little tutorial real quick, ok the rom that I would flash this one, chubbzlou sense 4 rom which you can download here and you will need to flash a good recovery, I would recommend team wins recovery you can download that here and the easiest way to flash that recovery image would be to rename it to "recovery.img" without the quotes obviously and put it in your adb folder ya know with your fastboot.exe and your adb files, and then boot into your boot loader select fastboot and type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img and it will say like "sending recovery, successfully written recovery" then power off your device and boot back in to the bootloader, then select recovery and it will boot into team wins amazing recovery, then what you need to do is also download a super wipe from here and basically once you are booted into recovery select mount and then "mount usb storage" make sure you have your usb cable connected to your phone at this point and then your computer will recognize your phone and then move the rom and the super wipe onto your phone, next step after the rom and super wipe have fully transferred then unmount it from your pc and then click "install" in the team win recovery, then select the superwipe zip and then you will have the option to add another zip, select the sense4 rom zip and then do the swipe to flash, they will both finish after a bit and then reboot your device and you will be good to go, hopefully I helped
Has anyone seen Negalite Bluerom R122 or higher for download?
What is the link?
thanks hossman; I fixed my phone by flashing a rom from hboot 1.57.5757 with 4EXT which works great
The 1.50.5050 should work
Put the ROM.zip on your SD
Make a backup through 4ext first
Wipe all except SD card
Reboot recovery
Wipe again
Flash ROM
Reboot phone
Should boot fine

so hey guys. just got an evo, and did the regaw root method where it unlocks the loader using HTcunlocker. and it also installed the twrp. i downloaded the cm10 zip and threw it on a sd card.
I put the sd card in, and went and booted into recovery mode... all good. locate zip on the external sd card, and when i try and install it, it fails first step... any suggestions what to do.
I read around and noticed you need s off to do anything that has its own kernel.
seems my hmode is like 1.5 or something so i cant do the s-off. I need to downgrade it. No problem.
bad thing is in the recovery i went to do a wipe facory reset, and now when i try and boot to system it says NO OS found! haha i power it down and back on, and it says no os found!
I cant use an RUU or downgrade tool because i cant boot up and into debugging,
i know you clever people can help me out a bit, right?! i miss my epic 4g slider
EDIT STILL NEED HELP please and thank you in advance
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1869377
Pay attention to the S-On part of that article. You have to flash the kernel separately with S-On. Also there is now a method of downgrading in order to achieve S-Off. It can be found in the original development subsection.
it seems like i downloaded a RUU with 1.3, but the problem is, it says it cant connect to the phone. i didnt install any drivers or anything. so point blank, since this was a newer phone, I need to download a livecd of linux in order to get this thing to boot to anything other then the white htc screen or twrp?
You need to get into twrp by holding power and volume down . Once there wipe everything except storage. Then mount USB and copy/paste a Rom from your pc to your phone. Pull the boot IMG first and place where your adb/fastboot files are.
Flash the Rom, when its done boot into bootloader from recovery and then fasyboot flash the boot IMG
There are detailed instructions on how to do these steps all over XDA
Hope you get it up and running
I don't know if you need those drivers you talked about. If you wanted to be sure about having the correct drivers you could install HTC sync on your pc.

Ok let me read into that push/pull adb fastboot thing.

ok so go into twrp. then from my rom zip file, youre saying to pull out the boot.img and place in the fastboot folder (not sure)
then flash the whole zip file of the rom (with or without the boot.img that i copied) and then you say boot into bootloader and than fastboot flash the boot.img? im kinda lost right there
So As i just woke up and ready to try again with this bastard phone, can you link me to something stating how to actually flash a rom using s-on htcunlock? or just how and where you put the boot img and where the fastboot folder is etc.
Best thing to do probably is read om4's guide in the Q&A section. Its stickyed or maybe download flash image gui. The app explains the process. Its any easy solution for s-on folks.
Sorry i cant explain in detail how to fastboot flash the boot img but all the info easily found on xda.

So when i try to send the image using fastboot, i do fastboot devices, and then i try and send. it says sending, but will stay there infinitely. I cant find a thread that talks about it locking up during the file transfer
Maybe I'm missing something here but couldn't he put a rom like meanROM ,that has the s-on kernel installer built in, onto his sd card (assuming he has one) and install it from TWRP just so he has a working phone? Then he could properly research how to get CM10 installed and running.
So I've got what seems to be a pretty big issue right now. I'm S-off 1.12 Hboot and I was upgrading my recovery. I originally tried it via fastboot like I always have, but it looked like being S-off didn't allow updating the recovery that way, so I place the recovery image on the root of the sd, and updated it via the bootloader. The update went fine.
Here's where the problem comes in. For some reason, my rom (cm10) now refuses to boot and since the recovery image is still on the root, I can't access fastboot to get to recovery since it auto-detects the image and tries to flash it. Any ideas?

take out your sd card, or use goo manager
I love you flex, I really do, but since I can't boot to my rom and this phone doesn't have removable storage....
yeahhh...
I was assuming you had to have fastboot to RUU, but I tried it and that's not the case, so I'm RUUing right now.
SOLVED
Hey, I have htc evo 3d gsm (shooteru). I unlocked the bootloader using htcdev.com and installed clockworkmod recovery. Then I changed cid to HTC__001 and tried to flash a gingerbread ROM in preparation for using the flashmaniac tool to downgrade my hboot (1.53.0007 -> 1.49.0007).
But when I tried to flash the gb rom the recovery said that installation finished but the phone did nothing after reboot. So I took out the battery and went into bootloader and everything looked the same as before the flash attempt. So I tried once again with same result. Then I powered off the phone and now when I turned it on again it only shows the HTC logo for a few seconds and then nothing (the buttons at the bottom have their lights turned on though).
Any ideas?
Yes, hboot version not compatible with gb rom, and or boot partition didn't get flashed. Unlocked but s-on doesn't let boot partition have write if booted into recovery in a normal way.
So yoy can get boot.img from install zip and flash with fastboot
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Or you can reinstall from recovery if booted from fastboot command.

Somehow got it at least to bootloader, no idea how, just tried taking out battery a few times and charging it a bit and it worked.
Thanks for the advice, didn't realize there was a difference between these flashing methods.

I know , it just didn't work for some reason before.
So I flashed the boot.img and now it's stuck in a boot loop. Tried going to cwm recovery and wiping various caches etc and flashing again, and flashing boot.img again but it still goes into boot loop.
I would just use the flashmaniac's tool anyway because I don't care about any data on the phone or anything, but it seems that it requires the phone to be booted before it can start the downgrade.
What should I do? Try to flash other roms maybe? The one that I have now is EU_Shooter_U-1.20.401.8_ROOTED.
So I extracted a rom.zip from a RUU but it won't flash from cwm "Can't open /sdcard/rom.zip (bad)", should I try to flash it with adb/fastboot? I'm worried that the zip may be broken (even though archive manager integrity check says its fine).
Would this work with shooteru/GSM?
[TOOL] Ultimate Recovery Tool 3.1 (Unbrick, Downgrade, VM Radio Fix/Reset)
I'm thinking it might be a way to sidestep the boot loop problem that I have now, just relock the bootloader and follow the instructions until I get HBoot 1.40.something like the guy in the video?
Do I need some special drivers when using the RUU executables on Windows?
So I've got it to work. The problem was what jcfunk said (both of the things he mentioned, actually), I was trying to flash a GB rom when I should have tried an ICS rom instead (lol). After going to ICS RUU, I did the wire trick (unlimited.io) and now everything works nicely and I can get the latest roms.
Glad to hear.
