Can't Make or Recieve Calls after Root - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I rooted my phone using the latest Regawmod method last week. Everything worked great until a couple days ago, when I was no longer able to make phone calls, receive them, send text messages, or receive them. My 3g still works fine. I then un-rooted my phone and put everything back to stock in plans to take it back to Sprint. Not long after the phone started working, and I was able to make phone calls again. So I used the latest Regawmod method again and rooted my phone again. Immediately after rooting the phone I was no longer able to make phone calls again. Please let me know if anyone has heard of this or has any ideas or suggestions. Thanks.

This is development related how? Wrong section mate.

Have you tried updating profile and prl? A few days ago I flashed a cm10 build and couldn't send text or receive text. So I ended up flashing back to a sense ROM. Updated profile and prl then restored the cm10 build and it fixed my problem.

JDM is right you have to update at least your profile or your phone tries to through hands free activation again... I had the same problem when I rooted using the same method...

Thanks, for y'alls help. I went ahead and took my phone to sprint since they said there was nothing wrong with the towers over the phone. Soon as I got there, they told me it was a known problem and that many people in my area are experiencing the same problem. So now I just have to sit and wait for everything to start working again.

[Q] 1X no matter what

Any ideas? I have a Plain Jane rooted TB that has been stuck in 1X despite (in order):
- rebooting
- pulling battery
- restoring a known good saved ROM from ROM Manager
- toggling enable on RevA
- installing jcase's rooted 1.70.605 OTA and MR2 radio
- factory reset
I am in midtown Manhattan. I should have stellar 3G/4G. Is there anything left to do but return the phone to VZ?

You should check your settings and see if your mobile network is on(obvious answer and I feel like you have probably done that). Make sure you dont have any apps that are turning it off i.e. juicedefender or any other apps that control your mobile network. It could be the ROM you are using so try and use your stock ROM and see if you get 3G/4G in that. Make sure your SIM card is in properly. I do not know if that will be an issue but it could help. Also along with ROMs make sure the ROM you are using is friendly with the radio you are using. I can not think of much else. Google it too and search this forum or others that might help too! Good luck.
The simplest and most obvious possibility that still has to be asked: Do you have the back cover on the phone?

I have the Stock ROM w/corret radio and yes mobile is on, airplane mode off. Also tried pulling the battery. This sucker stuck on 1X for dear life.

yes, back cover is on
I had the same problem you did. I used Bamf 3.0 and flash the newest leak radio. My phone all of the sudden the next day dropped 3G. I went into the VZ store today and told them my sim card died and they gave me a new one. It working now, so I said unroot your phone like I did and get a new sim card. Make sure you update to their newest software before going into the store.
Seem like alot of people on the forum are saying they are not getting 3G/4G lately after the new radio that was out. I got my radio the day it was leak.

Thanks. But I had my problem before I flashed the new radio. I've been using the original plain jane root from back in March. It worked two nights ago, was stuck in 1X the next morning.
Since I now have the new OTA stock is there an easy way to get it out of root or should I just follow the sticky instructions and go all the way back to original ROM?
Instead of taking it in you could also just give them(verizon) a call. I know they can see if your phone is rooted from there and many verizon workers have theirs rooted and might be able to help you!
Yeah mine worked 2 days ago too but yesterday it died I was using bamf for a while now. I flashed the radio before that too, all of the sudden it just dropped. The guy at VZ store told me that never happened before that a sim card just die like that.

Thanks, but I spoke to VZ last night. The rep was nice and all but said the factory reset should fix the problem (it didn't) He said the next step would be to replace the phone. I might call again tonight to see if I can bump up the tech support ladder to someone more knowledgeable. Still hoping someone here could help me out.
Like I said, I had the original plain jane root that everyone did back in March when the phone came out. No reason for it to suddenly get stuck in 1X the other day.
Ive had that problem twice now. The first time my 4g antenna stopped working for whatever reason. I replaced the battery cover and it worked again for a few days. When it stopped again I called verizon and they sent me a new phone which is probably what youre gonna have to do.
So... VZ is next-day mailing me a new phone. I wanted to exchange it in the city but they said once you have the phone for more than 14 days exchanges have to be done by mail. Still, I'd love to know why the phone died.

Phone not activated after Root

So I installed CM7 following the wiki on there site, using Revolutionary.io Everything worked fine, got s-off, installed the CWM recovery and then installed CM7. Well when I boot to CM7 the phone is telling me that it is no longer activated. It worked perfectly before. Ive rooted several EVOs on Sprint in the past and have no issues, didnt know if anyone had has some similar problems before and what they did to fix it.
This is a common Revolutionary bug.
You can try to take the battery out for a full minute and then go to settings, update, update profile. Then update the PRL. This did not work for me.
If that fails you need to try to send text messages and record the error codes when they fail. Call sprint from a different phone and give them those codes (dont tell them you rooted or s-off'ed) Hopefully you get someone with half a brain and they ask you for the IMEL code (behind the battery) and reset your phone. It took me 3 calls (and resets) to Sprint over a week but finally it stuck. On a friends phone it only took 1 reset by Sprint to get it to work. If you have any call or text failures after Sprint resets it you need to call them again.
I personally believe this is caused by a failure in the hands-free activation mechanism preformed after running Revolutionary.
Is it possible that you flashed a GSM rom aka the wrong radios? I'm assuming you mean it has no network connections by "not activated", some more detail might help you get a solution quicker.
Good luck!
Well after some reading, people were saying that I should go back to stock and then reactivate. So I did that and when back to CM7 and and nothing. Others were saying to play with the MSL buy dialing ##3282 or 228 but I didn't have the code for it so I just went back to CM7 and it turns out it works now. Not sure why but who the hell cares. Sucks that Revolutionary has those issues. Its worked great for me so far.
I had this happen too right after I rooted a week ago using Revolutionary.
It's no big deal and you don't need to waste your time switching roms or jumping through hoops just call Sprint and tell the your phone just stopped receiving calls.
In my case my 3g data worked but not texts or calls. I called Sprint and just said my phone wasn't making or receiving texts or calls and I wasn't sure why.
They just reset something on their end or whatever they do and I was good to go. No need to do anything else.

Unable to make calls and no 3G after using AOKP

Hello! I have a problem with my fascinate. I flashed aokp build 37 and was able to use it for about 2 days when suddenly the data and calling just stopped working. the signal bars still work however. So i odined back to eh03 stock and the 3g icon still does not come up and I am still unable to make calls. Could anyone please help me? thank you!
I assume you have flashed the correct eh03 stock package and that you have the correct radio package flashed as well. So as far as I can tell if you flashed everything correctly, then that really only leaves one more possibility unfortunately. Something tells me it us not the fault of aokp.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
i have flashed back to stock multiple times before just fine. and im sure its not aokp but probably something stupid i did. I just cant figure it out.
thats odd, i am getting service now after waiting for a couple of hours. very strange.
update: it has been on and off throughout the day today. something is definitely wrong.
Do you guys think a dmu reset would work? Or is that just for data? Because I'm not able to make calls
I have concluded that my phone only does not work at my home. I'm currently at school and it is working perfectly. I live near los angeles this is very strange. It was not like this last week.

I called verizon and they made me jump through some hoops trying to get my phone to work but no luck. They said its a device problem but I find that hard to believe when my phone works perfectly fine outside of a 2 mile radius from my house.

I would suggest the prl update. I'm not sure what the number is, #22981 or something...don't quote me!
Also, check out the Glitched build for AOPK for the Fascinate. You may enjoy it better than standard build 37.
i have done *228 and did option 1 and 2 when i was away from home already but my phone was still borked as soon as i go home.

Out of curiosity did you reflash gapps? Just trying to think of suggestions.
If your stock aopk37 you may need a different kernel and it may work outside of home area because of different towers or networks. Hmmm....very odd.

Yes I reflashed gapps and the problem persists in stock eh03, stock aokp, and glitched aokp.

I was having a similar issue
Last Saturdat morning I woke up to a phone (AOKP milestone 5 and Glitch v14 B6 I500) that was in a boot loop. Nothing had changed for weeks so other than not charging my battery that night, it was a loop without a cause.
Yesterday I followed Droidstyles script (Back to CM7 EH03 then to Glitched AOKP Build 37 with a stop at build 2 per instructions).
At first I had a moble network connection but the service was poor (As usual) so I called *228. The ROM knew I was doing an activate / update so it removed access to the dialpad. The Verizon function ahs 2 options but it's without I dialpad I couldn't select 1 or 2 so I waited. The robot on the other end of the line stopped asking me to press 1 or 2 and said the phone was being programmed. Then I tried to make a call and the "No Mobile Network" sign" appeared. Last night I flashed the Glitch 14 kernel and my phone worked fine for 24 hours then I tried *228 again and No phone.
As I was writing this note I had an idea what would happen if I rebooted plain old reboot? I did that and all of sudden I have a working phone again.
I have this same problem. (I've flashed AOKP build 36, 37, and 38...)
I have 3g signal. (sometimes) But I can't make or receive any calls/text messages. What the hell is going on? I have updated my profile and PRL... I called sprint, did a whole bunch of resets, going into the dial pad #*#* or whatever. Still not working after 10 agonizing hours. Someone please help.
Since you can't use the number pad when activating you can call *22890 to activate and *22891 to update the PRL. That's pretty much standard for any MTD rom.

Texting Stopped Working on EVO LTE

I suddenly can't send or receive any text messages. I don't have a clue what caused it. Last night I installed the app wifikill and used it for a few minutes which did cause my phone to reboot and for some reason made it look for a profile update, firmware update and prl update. Everything else seems to be working, so I'm not sure what's going on. I already attempted to delete everything in my phone and restore from a nandroid backup before this happened, and the problem still persist. Any ideas of what could have caused this and how to fix it?
I don't know if it is related or not, but I've been having texting issues with the LTE as well. Sometimes they go through, sometimes they don't and I end up turning airplane mode on, then off after waiting 30 seconds.
I've also been having MAJOR delays in getting sent messages (some are coming in more than 2 hours after they were sent to me according to the time stamps on the incoming messages)
It is really driving me crazy (oh, and along with data crapping out as well with no rhyme or reason as to why and when).

+1 to this issue.
That's no really the same problem I'm having. I simply can't send or receive text messages at all. It just suddenly started happening with no warning, so I'm not sure what caused it or how to fix it. Please let me know if anyone else is having this problem. If I don't hear anything soon, I'm thinking about unrooting my phone and re-locking the bootloader and taking it to sprint to see if they can do anything with it.

Sadly I already did that, and it still wasn't able to send or receive text messages. But here is the real kicker. Soon as I made a call to one of my friends who also knows a lot about phones to ask him if he had any suggestions, all the text messages that I made that wouldn't send all sent. By simply making a phone call, the phone must of connected with the sprint towers and made it start working. Super bizarre, but it's working again. So now I'm in the process up setting everything back up. Thank you Titanium Back up.
I'm currently experiencing modified version of your problem. I can't send text messages, but I can receive them. The only messages I can send are picture messages because they are looked upon as data.

Are you new to Sprint? Text messaging on Sprint has done this on several different devices for the past two years (since I joined Sprint). And when I make a phone call several tend to come through.
Oddly enough this doesn't happen in Utah when I go to visit, only Puerto Rico (where I live).
Try making a phone call and updating your prl within Sprint Zone. That fixed it for me.
I tried EVERYTHING to fix my phone. I rooted, unlocked and installed 2 different ROMS. None helped. I had to update my PRL every hour, and sometimes that didn't help either. I wiped everything, unrooted and relocked, ran RUU and went to Sprint. They replaced my phone. They are not allowed to work on these phones currently, so you'll either get a new one or a reconditioned one. Because I signed up for insurance, I got a new one.
I have not had any of the same issues since getting a new one. To me, it seems the issue is the PRL. It's showing that it's been updated, but it's not updating. There's a conflict between what Sprint sees on their side and your phone. But.. I'm not a Sprint tech, so I don't know.
All I know is I have a NEW phone and the problem is FIXED. For now anyways..

Actually know, I've been with Sprint close to 20 years now. I've always had a lot of different problems with them, but I've never had this particular problem before. But I'm glad I got it figured out, and everything is working again.

[Q] Phone Behaving as if De-Activated after DirtyRacun S-Off

Hello all,
First post on XDA; I've been searching for this issue for the past 4 hours, and found very little. I hope I haven't missed anything.
Long Story
Had a rooted phone, tried to flash JellyBAM; worked, except that kernel got messed up (touchscreen didn't work). Problem remained even after restoring HTC Sense. I assumed it was b/c my phone still had S-ON.
After successfully running DirtyRacun on my Evo 4g LTE, I flashed JellyBAM 7.6.2 (using TWRP 2.4.4.0, wiped Dalvik, Cache, Factory Reset & System first). Everything worked fine, except that there is no mobile network whatsoever. When booting JellyBAM, it prompts me to activate my phone:
"A special call needs to be made to activate your phone service. After pressing 'Activate', listen to the instructions provided to activate your phone."
I do this, but the problem is that I get an automated message: "Your account is not authorized to make calls to this phone number. If you would like to have additional capabilities added to your account, please call Customer Service."
This is the same message I get trying to make any phone call. Nothing (data, calls, etc) works on the mobile network now. I called Sprint to see if they could simply de-active then reactive my phone, but it appears to them as already activated. The tech I spoke w/ thinks I may have deleted the Sprint programming.
This sounds plausible, but what's REALLY WEIRD is that *2 still dials Sprint perfectly, and holding 1 still tries to check voicemail. So clearly some aspects of it connect with Sprint still. I have no idea what's messed up, unfortunately.
I don't believe JellyBAM is the culprit here, b/c after DirtyRacun but before flashing JellyBAM, I still had this problem.
Helpful Info
Android Version: 4.2.2
Radio Version: 1.12.11.1119
Kernel version: 3.0.73-g5d13a2c
JellyBAM 7.6.2
Question
Is there anything I can do to fix this so that my phone can reconnect with and use Sprint's mobile network? I'd really like to preserve JellyBAM, S-Off, and Root, given the amount of time and effort it took to get those working. Thank you so much, any help would be greatly appreciated.
First, try updating your radio.
I'd say to RUU back to stock and see if the problem persists. If it does then take it to Sprint and they should give you a replacement if you have the YEP. I had a similar but not so screwey situation, a few actually, like yours and when I lost all network Sprint replaced my phone. I've always had success dialing my voicemail after attempted activations and then my phone would kick back in within about 15 minutes while keep texting and calling my home phone.

Thank you for your response, I really appreciate the help.
I updated my radio, which went smoothly, but unfortunately it didn't work. What's frustrating is that I don't even know what the problem is. I know it isn't the ROM I flashed (since it had the same problem on HTC Sense before I flashed JellyBAM). It seems to have started after DirtyRacun S-Off process.
I'm still pretty noob so I don't know what else besides radio it could be. I'm really reluctant to try and restore my phone to stock due to the amount of time I spent learning to root and S-Off it. Wouldn't want that to be in vain, though I might not have a choice at this point.
Is there something I should try next?

Before calling sprint, Google the 4g lte dialer codes, I'm sure there is one that activates the wireless reactivation process (that was the case with my old gs3)

I know after achieving S-off, I had to call Sprint due to a security issue. I couldn't make calls or anything.
It was painless and took all of 5 minutes.
