Me too. the files are called tracker-"some letters and numbers that seem to be exactly the same for all of them"-"some numbers that seem random".tmp . It's wierd.
Also the first series seems to be the same as yours wallot.

I have this problem too. Now i see 5220 files. Nobody know what to do with this?

Do you have game called Kiwi Run installed by any chance? If you do, I believe that this game is writing those files anonymously to the sdcard. Delete those files, don't run the game and you'll have no more files. Try to run it and you'll see new files there again.

Yes I had but I uninstalled it and haven't got any again, and so you're probably right.

Collection of Flashable Zips for CWM

Alright guys, I'm making a collection of flashable zips that I make for everyone as of now so then we don't have any issues. Instead of mirroring my files, please just link whoever needs them here. Anyway, lets begin listing files.
Files:
http://goo-inside.me/apps/Indirect/Nook_tablet/Flashable_Zips
(A specific zip of Gapps is listed there for now but there will be more as development continues.) I'll probably add apps to another directory as of now. But it's just gapps.
Dead links
Hey indirect, thanks for the post/links.
I'm sure These will come up as available eventually but in the mean time what are they for? Is this simply gapps of various version numbers?
Wow
nice, what is inside the zip
specifically?

I created this flashable zip today. Link Gone
it includes apps I describe in the video I am about to upload, to name a few, facebook, twitter, two angry birds you cant get on market, Es File Explorer, NT Highjack, NT Urooter. It was my first attempt at making a flashable zip, let me know what can be done to make it better. oh well. bring the criticism ;P
now everyone dont go crashing my public drop box links again. They already put me on a 3 day suspension before, next time could be a month, and that would mean more downloading from filfactory and sites like that!

[Q] APK Creation

Well as many of you know we're over most of the hurdles we needed to jump with the CM7 build for Nook tablet.
Updates for the internal version are simple via CWM, the SD version is not so simple of course.
I'm assuming that it should be possible to built an APK that gains superuser permissions then copies the new files to the system. Can anybody confirm this is possible please?
We need to know that we can tell our SD user that they can update their version just as easy as the internal user
Thanks in advance for your help again everyone!
Well presumably this is how ROM Manager and Metamorph both do their thing, just in a slightly more round about way (as they don't come with the files they need to copy). I'm almost 100% sure this is possible, but I've never tried it personally.
EDIT: Looks like this is how you'd do it: http://developer.android.com/reference/java/io/File.html. Specifically the renameTo() method.

Well there are about a dozen ways to do this. First of one of the hardest things is comming up with the commands/script. I can defiantly do this. If you want an apk, there are a few guys whom could port my script to an apk. I'm going to make a script here that will format, and create partitions and extract directly from the nook, no need to go through the fancy formatting and such, just go into terminal and run the script. Ill post a prototype for you to have the testers test!
Do you think something like BacksideUpdater inside custom ROM for LG Optimus V?
made by JerryScript
JerryScript i very nice guy, I bet if you ask him, he will let you play with his code
if is it what you looking for
Yes, this is possible. I wrote an app that flashes the recovery partition for my older Froyo phone in the very rudimentary Basic4Android. Copying files under root privileges was part of this process. Fairly easy if you find the right coding examples in whatever your development platform of choice.

So one of the problems is its not really copying. Its more of an extraction from one place to another. We are required to use dd, and fdisk(for formatting).

Whoops, wrong button with the thanks. Anyway, it occurs to me you could just have people run a script from a terminal emulator. That would probably be the simplest way to do it. Make an Update folder on the SD card, add it to the PATH by default, and users could just copy over the update files and run the script. Just a thought.

Has to be simple, something like copy an update.zip onto the SD card then run the apk which will automatically run the update in the zip But my knowledge of such things is limited so I need help there
Same process. With the above method, the user would only have to copy over the file, open a terminal, and type 'update'. With the apk idea you just have to add a little more time for someone to actually write the app (not that it would take too long).

Hmm.... that sounds good.
Anybody know how to actually implement it ?
Dammit, idk why I keep hitting the thanks button thinking it's reply >.>
Anyway, it's just a matter of setting the PATH variable to include /sdcard/Update/ or something similar. To make an actual update, make a folder called Update, fill it with all the files that need to be copied over (probably in a directory structure), and write a script that actually copies everything over. You'll need to make sure sh is in /system/bin (I think it is by default).
You could zip the the files as well, using gunzip (busybox?) to extract them before copying them, then deleting them when you're done, just to keep it cleaner for the user.
The only downside to all this is that I don't know how you would flash a kernel.

I'm guessing you'd just flash it as usual, surely that one is the easiest? Copying stuff to boot partition would hopefully be just as simple, I was mainly worried about updating system files. I could do with building one for the current update to test the theory!

[Q] blocking ota

I deleted those from my /system/app directory. The previous OTA did not ever come through my phone, so I think you'll be OK.
On the Kindle Fire, the easiest way to prevent the OTA which is a forced update (you don't get a choice), was to remove the /system/etc/security/otacerts.zip file. Physically moving it elsewhere (like to the sdcard) worked.
I note that the Rezound has the same files.

If for what ever reason you cant use root explorer and do have busybox (i think you need it) installed
It has been a really long time since I have used adb for anything, but this should work unless it denies you because system is mounted as read only.

If you are stock unrooted, the best you can do is to say no if it asks. If for some reason it is a forced OTA, I don't think you can without staying in airplane mode.

Thanks, that is what I was wondering, if it asks or if it's forced? I don't remember how my past updates have been and for some reason I feel like they were forced!?!

[Q] v1.4.3 and Framework_res.apk

I know that I ask a lot of questions, some of them just a bit bonehead. I really appreciate everyones help here.
So, I finally for 1.4.3 running, rooted it, restored my backup from titanium backup. I have noticed, however, that when Installed my custom resources like SystemUI.apk and framework_res.apk there are a few little bugs here and there in the text it displays...
For instance, when you hit the menu button and it displays the block of buttons for some apps (like ADW / ADW EX and Titanium Backup) the arrow that used to say "More" now says "Allows the Application to set an alarm in an" and then it trails off. Obviously this is a mistake, probably they changed some reference between files in the framework folder. Additionally, the "Set as Default" now displays a bunch of %'s and letters as if, again, some reference is bad.
I like running the current software, these are minor issues. I'm sure they can be fixed, just not sure how. I was kind of stupid and didn't make a backup of my original framework_res.apk and SystemUI.apk files from the Nook after I updated but before I replaced them. Stupid of me, I know. I assumed from the file dates that nothing was changed. So, I can't really go back to the originals until I get it sorted out.
Anyone have any suggestions? If perhaps someone who has updated to 1.4.3 could send me those two files so I could make the mods myself on the new APK files? I'm almost positive it is framework_res.apk that is the culprit.
Does anyone have framework_res.apk from v1.4.3?

[Q] Can no longer write to Android/Obb in JB 4.2?

So after updating to Android JB 4.2 I can no longer write to the ' SdCard/Android/Obb ' directory.
Can anyone confirm if they are having this problem too? Is it due to this stupid and annoying feature that google has now implemented that they wish to check all .apk files before they are able to be installed? I turned this off in settings but it seems that it turns itself back on again after every reboot?
I cannot write to the directory from my PC via USB cable or even through a root app despite the phone telling me that I have -Rw access to the folder and all of it's subfolders etc.
I even tried writing via Linux but it doesn't work either... even if I try and force a write.. plus I cannot access the internal memory when the phone is booted down...
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.
Think you need to have root Explorer to write to obb
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Before upgrading I could write to the directory from either my PC or Root Explorer or Solid Explorer. Now I can't seem to write to it at all. So it's not that unfortunately...
R: [Q] Can no longer write to Android/Obb in JB 4.2?
As far as i can remember u can edit the obb directory even without root....but i'm an android kinda novice.
Try another file browser from the phone (the one from rhythm software is very good).
Might also be that problem with directory permissions that get mixed up to which clockwork mod always refers to (they have an option to fix directory problems).
Android, i have noticed, can get corrupted easily, have you done some serious modding to your cel phone or just root and small patching?

I've been trying a string of different things for a couple of days...
I've tried root explorer pro, when I press copy it finishes instantly but nothing is happening.
R/w is on..
I tried solid explorer pro, it instantly says "the file(s) could not be copied"
Tried "Fix Permissions" from CWM...
Tried copying from Windows. It copies up to 99% then says: "The directory is no longer available, it may have been removed"
The connection is fine, and I can copy to all other folders no matter where. EXCEPT for this folder..
I am 99.9% sure that it's due to this annoying new Android Guard thing in the settings that asks to scan everything. Even if I turn it off, I bet that it still has some sort of affect. It's probably just denying all writes from outside an accepted source..
This really angers me. I don't want my phone to have ANY directories that I cannot write to. Especially seeing as I have to often copy files back and forth from this folder when I make updates to the 2 games I am developing..
There was no problem before updating to 4.2 and this Android Guard thing.
I'm willing to try all suggestions.. Thanks

I'm using Android HD Revolution. It's apparently an 'official leaked' one with just the 'improvements' that Mike etc. do.
Thanks also for your reply. I'm trying to keep my device current so I can stay on top of releasing updates, but I really can't do that if I can't fix this issue. I've put it off for awhile now but it's really stalled the development process /tear

If you mean using ARHD 30.* that is not official, that is the leaked version of 4.2.1, that mike has tweaked
Before flashing ROMs, read changelists carefully please:good:
Ok well then I missed the play on words, it's not 'official' but it's a leaked version. Mike, or whoever updates the thread doesn't usually provide a very verbose changelog.
So I take it that absolutely no one here on XDA has any idea as to why I cannot write to this 'specific' area in my partition?
I have the same problem with Galaxy S4. I rooted the device but this didn't help.
I have tried loading files to obb in Windows 7, ES File Explorer, AntTek Explorer - but no results.

I solved my problem using AntTek Explorer (root) and the path is next:
Device root/storage/sdcard0/android/obb - then I had permissions to copy files there.

reading changelogs doesn't help the problem..
and @leijonasisu probably it would've been bad flash.. but before i say that you should change rom and check once again.. you gotta see if there was any write protection to the specific folder.. so try using an FTP client, if you still cant get access, then you gotta change the rom and try again
