A friend just texted me and asked if i could root their Razr for them that has the JB update already. A quick search through the forums and I didn't find any root methods for JB yet. Also given how new JB is i was surprised to hear that he received the update already, bravo to Verizon and Moto for pushing the new system through so quickly if so.
It is entirely possible that my friend is completely illiterate and trying to tell me he wants Jelly bean installed, or someone already rooted it and installed JB but messed it up in the process and wishes me to fix it.
Is there a JB root method? or am i being misinformed?
the razr does not have jb i have a vzw razr. We have a cm10 rom that has data problems . But no razr has jb. The cdma razr has ics ...the gsm razr just got ics. And the safestrap method as well as the root tool are both posted in the razr forum

I was guessing this was the case. I did find all kinds of Root methods for ICS and GB. My friend is insisting he has JB on his phone now. ..... so it looks like i have to fix someone else mess. Yay.
Thanks for the replay Silver03wrx

Install Voodoo Rootkeeper and back up root, do your update. Once the update is completed follow this: http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/1598-how-to-guide-restore-root-after-installing-ics-leak/. This will protect your root. I cant say for sure which leak you should use for ics, so im defaulting to our more savvy friends.

I wouldnt recommend ics for a latam razr except the chinese leak. If you cant just wait a little. We''re about to get it in a few days. Hold on.

Jelly bean update on my Motorola Droid Razr Maxx
Hi Experts,
Am using a unlocked verizon Motorola droid razr maxx(Baseband version: CDMA_N_05.11.01PLTEDC_U_09.11.00) in india and using GSM service here in india.
Just sincerely request you to help me solve my following queries.
My phone is working fine but facing couple of issues like...call recording not working (tried almost all) and phone getting hot only while using 3g service and sometimes my ongoing call drops automatically if i get a call in waiting and if i dont receive it. Hence, i hope, upgrading to jellybean will resolve all these issues.
Hence, please help me ...in the following case...,
I've downloaded a official jellybean rom from xda on my sd card and my phone is not rooted.....and if i install it by going into recovery mode and installing it from the sd card, so will i be able to.....
1) Will my phone function properly in all respects after installing JB update...?
2) Will my above problems will get resolved or not?
3) Is there any chances of phone getting locked after the update and restrict my home country(INDIA) gsm service?
4) Is there safe method to perform the JB update ....? i mean ...i need your advice.
You can also reply me at shreedhar.rapolu at gmail dot com.
thanx in advance.

I dont now if updating will fix all your problems but it will make it run much better. now about updating to jelly bean since you are on GSM you need to do a ton of research before updating because the files I have are for cdma only. research research research before flashing anything and the only rom that can be flashed in stock recovery is a stock rom. hope this helps
Re: [CDMA] Droid Razr Maxx walk through videos and now jelly bean update
My question is, why does my MAXX after my 4.1.2 update search for a service subscription and then give me a message to contact my service provider?

my phone is having the cdma version OS only right now....but its just that its unlocked and am successfully using GSM card, so my logic says,....the CDMA files which you should work to update Jellybean. My only worry is will my phone get locked after updating to Jellebean and will i be able to use GSM service in my home country...? Please please please help and advice.

Take that razr and mail it to the developers, 4.2 !!!!!! We need to have that in the hands of people that can take it and make it public.

Neither one of those devices is on stock 4.2 though. Only 4.1.x
Must be a custom ROM.

Is that a OMAP device? if yes then it looks promising might want to notify hash about it :good:
edit: yes omap 3630
According to -Danik-
"Once the RAMDL was hacked , I was able to flash my own loader which is a turning point in Milestone 2 at is , and on any OMAP at all."
I'm no expert on these matters, but Google says it's OMAP too

Well so far nothing has been post in the RAZR section of the forum, but we have kexec anyways, which is a bootloader bypass. It would be nice, but it's not exactly needed, plus we weren't initially included so I don't know what that means

You can travel abroad with your RAZR no problem; but, know that if you are running CM10.1 you must patch it before it will work on Intl GSM, if you search the CM10.1 thread toy will find a link to the patch. I would link it now but I'm on my phone. If you have any other CM10.1 questions please post them on the CM10.1 thread, way more people read that thread and the support over there is great.
