You can unroot it buy re-flashing a new stock ROM.
Or you can try this app OTA Rootkeeper: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...m9yZy5wcm9qZWN0dm9vZG9vLm90YXJvb3RrZWVwZXIiXQ..
Although it says rootkeeper, a bonus feature is present, allowing you to un-root your device while keeping a su backup.
This way you can naively hide root until you choose to restore it via without further complications.
This nifty feature work on every rooted device.

[Q] Sony tablet S Android 4.0.3 root

Could anybody let me know please, how to root the Sony tablet with the Android Versio 4.0.3?
Thanks
Klaus
Have a look at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1515720
it can't be done at this stage on a device with ICS already installed. You need to preroot the ICS image on a rooted Honeycomb device before you flash it.

Thanks a lot for the answer. Is there any instruction how to preroot ?
Thanks

Doesn't work

4.0.3 Is unrootable for now maby the devs will find out how to root these kernels that came with the original update. Have a little hope guys
Still the good way
It doesn't work but it's still the good way to go : search the web and test / report anything found about rooting an ICS 4.0.3 device !
If many people do that, we will have a chance to discover something usefull.
Can't wait for ICS Sony Tablet S root!
You gotta love the Devs! That ADB All-In-One tool is amazing! It helped me to make my own copy of ICS to flash anytime in the future.... even if I screw-up my OS. It totally saved me from my temporarily bricked honeycomb Sony Tablet S. I'm happily waiting for their ICS official root tool.
root 4.0.3 ics
Are the devs close to rooting the sony tablet s ics(4.0.3). When do you thi k it will come out
Anyone hear any news on this? I know if they do make root for this version, I will never, ever do a stock update again. I soooooo miss my root!

Pledge for rooting official ICS
Bring these back alive. Get them to a tempting amount for their efforts. AND hopefully everyone will pay this time
I hope we get root atleast, I screwed up tab and had to force update and got kernel 10 for my efforts lol.

[Q] Disable Software Update Install Notifications

My phone is driving me insane with alerts that pop up every 3 hours to get me to install Jelly Bean, I want to stay with Ice Cream Sandwich as I don't want to lose flash player. My phone is rooted.
Help please!
Flash player works fine with JB, albeit unofficially.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I also want to disable it. Please advise....
Using titanium backup you can freeze a component
The name depends on your language..
SoftwareUpdate_v3_xxx or something like that. The one with underscore
On jb its v5_
That was sufficient for me at the time on ics

By the way
Not that its usefull but I do have flash natively on JB . Checked on the internal browser, going to adobe check version.

best way to root on 4.1.1??

hey guys, I flashed JB JRO03C 10.4.2.15 (US) Stock Deodexed + Mods [Unlocked BL], and like an idiot i rushed through it and never even read the part about having to separately flash superuser....i know, I'm an idiot. Thank you. well anyways, I'm thinking i need to just re-root all over again? Unless there is a better way to get superuser back? anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it. My question is, is if i have to re root, then what is the easiest way to root with 4.1.1? thanks in advance
anyone?
Me too. I was rooted and had Voodoo installed but after 4.1 I lost it all. Not even partial.
Currently no way to root once on JB, not without unlocking; which voids your warrantee. Can't downgrade back to ICS either to root.

Unfortunately there is no way so far to root JB. (I know. Is this the future of Android? No root? No unlocked bootloaders? That is a discussion for another day.)
But... If you were rooted before and used Voodoo Root Keeper, there may still be hope. Check out this thread. As I have posted before, try and follow the conversation between thenrz and myself starting here and see if this helps.
Hopefully you have a copy of the su binary lurking on your Prime. With that you can, with luck, restore root. Read the conversation a few times to get the jest. I'm sure most of you are smart enough to read between the lines to get it figured out.

Rooting 4.1.1

Hi,
I somehow cocked up the regain root from partial root method posted on here and can no longer get into the '#" command in an adb shell session. Is there anyway to root 4.1.1 both directly through Jellybean or via downgrading to ICS and then getting my partial root back when I re-upgrade or am I completely screwed?
Thanks.

This question has been answered a lot. There is no way to root Jelly Bean without unlocking or having a backup of your root.
So there's no way to downgrade either?

not without shipping to Asus warranty depot.
Urgh, thanks. I have to send it in for a faulty camera so do you just ask in the RMA request email? It's made more annoying by the fact I had partial root .

I would ask during your initial query, tell them you arent happy with the upgrade and want to downgrade. You will probably still have a JB bootloader though, just ICS ROM.
I never went through with it. I called support asking for a way to downgrade and they told me the only way was to send it in and get it downgraded.

Will this allow you to downgrade to a lower version of ICS or will you still get denied permission when trying?
Thanks for the clarification .

The factor restricting the downgrade currently is the bootloader. I don't expect ASUS to downgrade that, rather just the OS. I could be wrong. But if they send you back a tablet with ICS on it you can root and preserve with OTA on upgrade.

As soon as you make one, or use the bootloader unlock method (see other posts in Prime section)

[Q] 4.2 rooted but how to update without losing root?

Hello all,
so here is the situation:
I have an xperia tablet z (wifi only, 16gb) with stock firmware 4.2 rooted.
Bootloader is unlocked by default.
I would like to install official 4.3 but how do I do that without losing root?
The OTA does not work, so I will need another solution.
A step by step guide would be very nice. I guess I'm not the only one struggling with this.
Thank you very much in advance.
rooted but bootloader not unlocked and OTA does not work for me ?
I also need some help with this. I want to update to 4.3 via OTA, and still keep root. My bootloader is not unlocked, and I don't really want to unlock it. The update I tried failed (could not install). I understand that flashtool would fix this, but I believe you need BL unlocked.
took the plunge with sony companion even thou i knew i would lose root.
oh man, 4.3 is a beauty. The screen lag has gone, the tablet has become butter smooth to operate. Had this tablet come with 4.3 from day one, it would have been a killer.
I don't know if this would work, but you could try a dirty flash of an ftf through flashtool. Just get an ftf online with the 4.3 ROM, and then uncheck the wipe data option. This won't work on large updates, but this is only a point update so it is worth a try. Actually, come to think of it, I don't think it would be compatible. Try CM and if you love the Sony skin I'm sure you could find a theme. that would run really nicely with that s4 pro under that beautiful display. Sorry, that was a rather unhelpful post!
