Infamous&unresolved Wi-Fi error - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Welp, title says it all.
The infamous, unresolved issue of Wi-Fi saying "error" under it in the settings.
Issue occurred first on unrooted stock(when I was give the phone), so I rooted it in hope I could somehow fix it via kernel flash, rom flash, or by other means.
I've practically flashed every kernel, every rom, tried several apps, and still running into this issue.
I would rely souly on Wi-Fi for internet access, seeing how I do not want Big Red up my arse with a contract(sticking to my Optimus V on Virgin Mobile running JellyBean).
The phone has no SIMcard, a 2GB sd-card, and is running the newly leaked BAMF ICS rom(installed in hopes of at least using bluetooth tether with my Optimus V for internet, but BT is broken on the leak).
I've searched every android forums on the web, read several dead end threads, saw even more that were unanswered.
Its as if this issue is purposely avoided being resolved.
I at least want someone to attempt to help, or give me the definitive answer of "you're poop out of luck, and there is no solution."
sent from my Zom-"Bean'(CM10 JellyBean).

It's usually fixed by a kernel flash so im assuming its a hardware error

I've flashed several different kernels(mixing and matching several froyo & gingerbread kernel/ROM combos), which would you recommend?

No Sound HomeBase just like stock?

Latest HomeBase (BLUR with kernel). When I first got the phone after a few hours you cannot hear or speak. You have to restart the phone in order to make or take a phone call. Assumed using a new rom would fix it considering the Sprint OTA fixed it but I still have the issue. After anywhere between 2 hours and 8 hours of the phone being on is when the problems start.
It was my understanding this was Software related but after trying a few roms with the same problem I don't know? Should I just go back to stock and install the OTA? Roms are cool but being able to talk is better.
I would. Also you should have posted this in the Q&A section or in the homebase rom thread.

What version of the Home Base rom are you on? I'm on v1.5 with the 4.2 update and have no issues. So perhaps you could try that one? And I had that issue until the OTA update too.

To start, this isnt any type of development so it should be posted in general....
My question to you is do you have a Sprint airave in your home? That was the issue i had. If the problem is in custom roms try stock again.

I've recently flashed v1.5 and updated with 4.2. Loved it except that when I tried to download anything in the market it would tell me that there was insufficient space on my device. I had even reformatted my external and internal storage. Then I tried using the marketfix.zip. It would say it was downloading and then disappear from my notifications. I was wondering if you were having this problem at all?
The only time I have had a market issue was when I first flashes the ROM and it was the old market then it dud a little song and dance and ypdated to the new market at which point anything I was downloading prior was gone. But after that haven't had any issues. Is this the issue you are having? If not.....try to reflash the ROM

[Q] Anyone having compatibility issues with Bluetooth and ICS?

Ive used CWM to install different roms over a couple months since I have gotten my GS2. Ive never had a problem with Bluetooth connecting and playing music at all. But I find that since I started running the latest ICS XXLPH roms its been an issue.
Or can switching many roms over a course of time damage the antenna? or hardware? Any suggestions?
I am going to revert back to my stock roms after I send this message. The only reason I am sending this before I try it is because nobody else really seems to be running in to this problem after searching the GS2 thread.
Ive tried a couple ICS roms and all cause my phone to randomly reboot when using BT paired with my stereo either on a call or streaming music.
When it reboots enough times it starts to corrupt the ROM/install. Because after a while it will start to just randomly freeze on its own forcing me to reset the phone.
Ive searched all over I havent pin pointed anyone having the exact problem as me so that is why I wonder if its possible to damage the BT device after multiple custom rom installs.
Thanks in advance.

You are using a leak or *beta* rom which is far from stable
And no installing many roms can not damage any hardware

Thanks for your response.
I am just concerned because like I said, from what I can tell, nobody else is running in to this problem.
Ive tried /format system along with full data/cache wipes. I wiped dalvik cache.
Im waiting for my phone to fully charge to put stock rom back on so I can test this completely.
But a bit nervous, because I need my phones BT as I am on the road often.

Having a similar, if not identical issue on latest Westcrip ROM. Near as I can tell, seems to be related to memory management: while on BT, RAM space drops almost 200Mb. While changing songs, or surfing the tracklist/phonebook, it can cause the RAM to reach a critical level. This causes the OS to crash and the phone to reboot (my case a soft reboot from the animation only) in order to create space. I would chalk this up to inefficient memory management by a beta ICS rom. Look for this to be sorted out in the future with official releases and custom kernels/roms.
Thanks for your response.
Yeah when I installed resurrection, I also ran in to that problem. I had no idea how to diagnose it. But it makes sense, bottling up the ram to the brink of reboot.
Thats what initially was happening to me, soft boot, took a few seconds and was back in. But extended crashes seemed to cause corruption.
Yeah so the XXLPH seems to have an issue. Because I also tried foxhound and got the same result.
I just got back in from testing my BT on my car stereo using my stock rom of KG2 and it played for 20 minutes and i chatted for 19 without any problems.
So I am glad it wasnt anything seriosu. But only reason I was concerned is I found nobody else to have the problem and I felt a bit isolated
But im reading the official ICS rom is out in Europe so im sure we will see some new roms out in the next little while.

Data and Wi-Fi turns on

Hi.
My data and Wi-Fi keeps turning itself on. I googled around and found that this problem has been around for a while and a lot of people are complaining about this however there still isn't any solution. Some suggested that ShopSavy was doing this, but I uninstalled it and still got the problem, and I even re-installed the ROM. Looks like this is happening to ICS users only.
Really need some solution to this...
HTC Incredible S
Android version 4.0.4
IceColdSandwich vivo-8.3.AOKP-ROSSI
This bug is really annoying, need help.

Are you using any custom rom?

Well, yes, IceColdSandwich. But this problem has occurred even to the stock ICS ROM users.

Some developers made fixes for this as far as i know

Does anyone really know...?

...why the wifi problem is sporadically happening in the JB ROMS?
I have tried most of the leaked and modded ROMS from early CM10 to Faryaabs Supernexus builds to the latest leaked firmware on 29th Aug.
However, whichever leak it was that first exhibited a wifi problem for the (unlucky) select few seems to have knackered my chances of connecting to wifi properly on all subsequent JB ROMS - even if wifi worked before. eg. Supernexus build 2 was all good on the wifi front, I only had probs with a few bugs and the camera lag. I flashed it again today though to find that it doesn't want to let me connect to my router.
This was the same with Omega v16, v16.1 and v17.
It seems to be reported that it is connected to router security settings and I know there is a 'fix' out there for it but the fix that I tried only made the wifi slightly better and was peppered with 'unable to establish secure connection' warnings when out and about.
Can anyone add to this or highlight an alternative solution? I have spent the last 30 or so evenings religiously reading the forums and if anything I'm a bit confused and bewildered
I'm on Omega v13 atm and cannot fault it (but I want Google Now) and I attach a snap of my current set up in case it has a bearing on where I'm going wrong.

No?
Well if it helps anyone I eventually found a work around.
After numerous different combinations of ROM, kernel and modem is finally got wifi working on a JB ROM
I was using Omega v13 and then I flashed the latest Siyah kernel ( http://db.tt/PgmwhO96).
After this I have been able to flash JB based ROMS over the top with no issues with wifi whatsoever

[Q] Bluetooth not discovering any devices, Help?

Hate to make my first post an issue post, but I have searched all over XDA for the answer and couldnt find anything particular to my issue. I flashed CM10 to my phone and noticed my Bluetooth would turn on but would not pick up any devices in device search. I tried multiple speakers and headsets and nothing would work. I did a hard wipe and installed MeanBean thinking that it was a ROM related issue. Tried it again on MeanBean and same issue. I tried fixing permissions and Bluetooth Fix app and still nothing. Can anyone help?
(I am on the latest radio/firmware and v.06 MeanBean)
Same exact issue !

My evo lte has been doing this for as long as i can remember also. I've been through dozens of roms and full wipes and still no bluetooth at all, not even recognizable.
Try deleting everything that is paired or was paired and then reboot. You may have Bluetooth defects if that still doesnt work. I have used on many sense roms, cm10, 10.1 varients with no problems. Hope that helps.

Im having the same issue
I have updated my radios and noticed that i lost my Bluetooth connectivity. I was originally running meanrom ics until JB came around. Then updated my radios and moved to JB MeanBean. I did an Ruu and got it back to stock. No dice, stock rom Bluetooth still cannot find or be found. I tried my laptop ipad macbook car audio everything and nothing works. I ve never had any issues with my phone and it seems after Jelly Bean Bluetooth is non existent.
Currently I am running
Twrp 2.3.1
Arc Reactor Kernel
MeanBean3.09
Is there a way to see if the actual Bluetooth is borked or if its working properly, "if its sending a signal"?
Is it possible that something happened when upgrading that the BlueTooth became corrupted? or can it just plain old stop working, died?
At that point if it's Borked on several roms
Then it's time to take it into sprint. That's a manufacturer defect / issue and they should swap it out. Assuming you bought legit from them
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
Yes I bought it legit when it came out. I also have the insurance plan with Sprint. The only thing I'm worried about is the new hboot and unlocking/rooting the new phone .
But I guess if it means a new phone then I guess its best... To get a fresh new evo
