Can someone make a customizable navbar mod for CM10? I had this on my 3VO and absolutely loved it
Anyone?

Maybe I'm missing something but what's the point when you have hardware buttons? It just seems kinda foolish to waste that screen space.

The hardware buttons drain note battery. You can have the search and menu accessible on the nav bar, plus instant access to Google now and long press search. With CMX yes you can get access to some of these features via long press, but not all of them. It's a choice for people, it doesn't have to be used, but there are some of us that like it and prefer it.
i put a little bit of time into this mod today
softkeys.zip- adds the on screen nav bar
softkeys2.zip- adds the on screen nav bar and disables the physical buttons (the backlight still turns on i didn't look to hard at trying to disable them)
the search key is something i have looked into a lot and i didn't find any solid How-to's on how to enable it i know it involves the SystemUI and the navigation_bar.xml but i haven't found a JB rom with it turned on by default without a tweak to access it
Okay so spent a little more time with it today and I got all the keys up, the button lights are still on, not sure what is causing it and it looks like I borked the app switcher for the moment but here is proof of concept

Adding the line "echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/button_backlight/max_brightness" to the post boot file kills the button lights.

Remove Debugging Icon (just flash in recovery after wiping cache & dalvik)
All-in-One Center (w/ clock in center, stronger haptic, and brighter screen)
All-in-One Right (w/ clock on right, stronger haptic, and brighter screen)

The extended settings are just flashable zips, but the framework-res.apk do the following :
Long press on /system/framework-res.apk and write down the permission settings. (You will need that later)
Cut and paste the new downloaded file into /system/framework
It will ask if it's OK to overwrite, say yes.
The market will force close, but that is normal.
Set the permissions the same as you wrote down at the beginning and reboot.
That is all there is to it, but please let me know if you have any other questions.

It gives you options to change the top bar battery color, remove carrier(or put a custom one), and a few others. Also allows you to flip the status bar and/or put the clock in the center.
Here is a pic of the options and notice my status bar and battery color...

It's where the arrows go in landscape. Are you using a mod to disable arrows on the IME keyboard? If so that's why the gap is there. On Charmeleon it looks like he found a way to make the arrows still show up in landscape on legacy apps.

I actually dont like onscreen buttons as they tend to take away screen space. I may be one of the few people who dont mind capacitive buttons at the bottom. I hate having a portion of the screen being dedicated to buttons. Give me the full 4.7'' of goodness lol.

This would be nice if we could make it pop up when the pen is out and/or reduce the size of the buttons.

Awesome, thanks for sharing. This really makes the spen more functional, having an easy to access home and back button, and the one click recent's button is the cherry on top. It would be nice to just have it pop up when you pull out the spen, but I still like the recent's and soft home button.
I'd like to eventually have a customizable nav bar, like in AOKP. On my S3, I turned my nav bar into my dock and had long press commands for each one as well, such as opening voicemail when long pressing home, composing message when long pressing messages, etc. You could also resize the bar so they didn't take up as much real estate.
Nonetheless, thank you for sharing this. I'm loving all of these mods.

This and I'm pretty sure most people get the note for the bigger screen. Why waste precious space with nav bar? I do like the concept of just having it enabled when the s pen is pulled out. Probably a way to do it by modifying the page buddy to disable the hard keys and enable on screen soft keys.... Just a thought

So it works, but the home button + power does not do screenshots anymore.. Apparently it changed to the volume down + power??

I second this as well. I would love to see the on screen buttons automatically appear and disable the hard keys when the S-Pen is pulled out and do the opposite when the S-Pen is placed back into the holder. Or maybe add a S-Pen shortcut to enable on screen navigation keys. Now that would be crazy.

This makes my Note 2 soooo much more usable with S pen. Even when not using S pen, it somewhat bothers me to have both softkeys and hardkeys to deal with.
Annoyingly, it does conflict with some touchwiz apps...the dialer for example. I dial into a lot of conference calls to clear access to '0' and '#' is pretty important. I may try a different dialer, we'll see. I really would prefer to not lose the touchwiz features of dialer.

No problem. And yeah to anyone asking this is on VZW so we didn't have those brightness sliders and such.

Same, now I only have to worry about the locked bootloader and I'm happy. If the dev's pull this off in less than 14 days would be a pretty amazing accomplishment.
Thanks WACOmalt
I can't get it to remove on my T-Mobile version.

I have a feeling that the sprint, tmobile and att versions all will have the annoying sound and brightness bars. I want to disable them with a passion. There has to be a way to disable them via custom ROM.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! This drove me nuts! I did notice that if you didn't have the QSlide showing in the quick settings you must. Then turn it off once it is in quick settings and remove from quick settings after that. That's the only way I found to get QSlide to go away.

OMG YES!! I would love to get rid of that excessive brightness and sound bar. Its so annoying and it takes up too much precious notification real estate. I wish that was included in the options that you can disable. Hopefully someone can find a solution.

@jonathan3579 & @superhtchd2 Did either of you successfully get the QSlide off of your tmo versions?
Check out the themes section..
Edit: removing those is a cake walk..but the main problem is the themes section is a mess..

Thanks for this tip. Now my notification dropdown is a little less cluttered. Nice.

After two days I figured what the problem was. You have to uncheck it in the notification bar and THEN uncheck it where you edit it. I guess I missed that. Lol.

Cool thanks. How about the brightness and volume sliders? Is it possible to remove those too?

Can anyone confirm that the remove QSlide apps works for the AT&T one? I can deal with the volume and brightness, but this is too much...

Yeah, you just click the button and they're gone.
