Sprint Zone Update - What is it? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I ignore this update but… I just got the phone Saturday and the first thing that is asked of me is if I'd like to apply an update from Sprint Zone. I just changed carriers from T-Mobile so I am completely new to Sprint altogether. Does anyone have some insight on this update?
Software Version: 1.13.651.1 710RD
Baseband Version: 1.02.12.0427

Jun 30,08 bell mob rom release

Bell has a new maintenance release as of 06-30-08 for Titan/6800.
Bell rep told me about it when I called them to re-activate because of a hard-reset...
I wouldn't doubt if he surfs this site lol.
here's the link
http://handsets.utstar.com/phone_downloads.aspx?bid=76&cid=16&mid=298&carrier=Bell Mobility
If you're using DCD I doubt you'd want to switch back, but maybe the dev's can benefit from this as it's quite a new release...
Um... is this even for this device?
RUU_HERCULES_BM_WWE_2.17.666.2_RS_HERCULES_1.59.10A_BM_1.34_Ship.exe
The XV6800/Sprint Mogul PPC6800/etc... are Titan devices, and usually say right in the rom name, TITAN...
Is the PPC6800 for Bell Mobile a different device?
Either way, I wouldn't trust this.
No, it's right...but it's a pointless release as it's just a maintenance update. If you look at the rom and radio versions, they're non-gps/evdo rev a.

Yeah, I was reading this just now...
So basically, it's pointless for any of us. But if anyone is still on Stock firmware for Bell Mobility, it's probably a good update.
ROM version: 2.17.666.2 / ROM Date: 06/06/08 / Radio version: 1.59.10A
Protocol version: ACAAAAM-4070 / Hardware version: 0003 / PRL 31398

Damn, that is really old. haha
i can't program the phone with a new number
called bell mobility to program my 6800 with dcd"s rom and i can't get to the programming screen with the rep. ##111111# and ##754513# doesn't com up. any idea's?
It's most likely your dialer skin, try using a different dialer from the kitchen and it should work.
BTC
Well I've got to send my handset in for warranty service (keyboard keys are sticking) so I'm going to reset my ROM to that one. I don't know how kindly Bell will take to having DCD on my machine. *sigh*
The exe is not letting me update though. I just activesync'ed, copied all my stuff over to my PC and ran the exe.

Does anyone know when Orange HTC Hero users in the UK are getting the Android update from 1.5 ? Is it to 2.0 or 2.1 ?
I'd like to know if and when this will be available for my phone. Here's my phone details:
Firmware version: 1.5
Baseband version: 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.08.29
Kernel version: 2.6.27-430d1aea htc-kernel and18-2 #959
Build no: 2.73.61.66 CL#82177 release-keys

I don't really need to unlock my phone and would like to wait for an official release. Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm a noob and there's no info on the HTC support site.

Definitely. Have a play whilst your waiting, try some different ROMs.
Use BTDAG's guide linked in my signature, it has everything you need to know. I recommend it to any beginner.
Thanks for the info guys. I think I'll wait if it's just going to be a couple of weeks.
Just phoned HTC Support. They said there's no official confirmation of the release details, but unofficially, here's what they said to expect:
* v2.1 to be released. Release scheduled for June. Wouldn't be more specific about date.
* Improved bluetooth implementation, inc file transfer.
* Release likely to comprise of preparatory updates, followed by main ROM update.

Thanks to Geoff M for setting this up. Sorry, but this forum site won't let me post a link.

Brand New Thunderbolt, no OTA Available??

Hello all,
I just received a brand new Thunderbolt (my last one broke). I just booted it up. It has these specs:
Android Version:
2.2.1
Baseband version:
1.39.00.0627r, 0.01.69.0625r
Kernel version:
2.6.32.21-g0606a3a

Build number:

Software number:
1.70.605.0
My question is, shouldn't there be an update? Or is this as recent as it gets? (I thought Gingerbread....?). When I check for new software updates, it says none are available.
Sorry for the newb questions!!
The OTA for gingerbread was suspended.
Root...
My name is Revos I'm a recovering flashaholic running Liquid Gingerbread 3.0
The phone will check for any updates and if available, and you tell it to proceed, will update.
You can force it to check manually too: Menu (key), Settings, Software Update, Check new
yea my buddys having the same problem. he kept ignoring the update notification, now wants to use Talk to video chat, but cant get the update. im looking into the possibility of him downloading a file and renmaing it pg05img.zip and flashing it through h-boot, since hes not rooted
From what I read, the 'official' update from VZW didn't include the video chat option in GTalk.

I can verify it's not on there. I loaded the update onto a friend's phone.... Before it was suspended.
Renaming files pg05img.zip and trying to flash them willy-nilly won't work either if hboot is S-On.
Flashing the ruu worked on my buddies phone. It was unrooted. It said *locked* the whole time which scared the s out of me but I got him on 2.3.4 by just flashing that

[Q] Can't register rooted phone to Sprint's network

Hi all,
So I've been S=off for a year or two and have jumped around between ROMs with no issues as far as sprints network is concerned.
I recently switched to T-Mobile (One M8!!) and decided to give my phone to my sis since she lost hers recently. She's on Sprint.
We've been able to register or "activate" the phone online and through the phone. The problem is that calls don't come through. We get getting the "we're sorry you're account couldn't be validated" message. Could it be that my prl is out of date? Do I need to unroot?? Any help is greatly welcomed.

You have to be on a stock ROM to activate the device.

You probably need to flash a stock, sense based ROM to complete activation.
Edit: I see Captain answered just as I did.

Are the stock ROMs available here?

Practically any Sense ROM will work. Just take a look in the development thread and find one to flash. It's highly advised to keep a Sense ROM backup handy in case of future issues. There are things you can do on a Sense ROM that you cannot do on a AOSP ROM like CM.
If you're on the old partition setup you can flash the ROM from this thread:

[Q] Help; Firmware OTA

So this is probably a stupid question, and I apologize in advance, but I was wondering if it's normal that my firmware is still 1.12.502.18 and Android Version is 4.4.2? When I click software update it says that my current software is up to date. Thanks

Not a stupid question by any means.
That is a really old software number. Are you connected to AT&T, or another network?
You can RUU up to 1.58, see the instructions on the following webpage under "manual system update instructions": http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8-att/news/
You can also RUU up to 2.23 (Android 4.4.3). Although this OTA was pulled due to battery drain issues, the RUU does not suffer the same issue. While the RUU is no longer listed on the HTC support website (linked above), the official download link is still active:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-htc-one-m8/general/htc-one-m8-ruu-m8ul-4-4-3-t2860423
If connected to the AT&T network, either being updated to 1.58 or 2.23 should allow you to receive the 3.x (Android 4.4.4) software once it rolls out (rumored mid-December). But being on 1.12, you will likely not receive the update.
