I just updated to Resurrection Remix 3.0.5 after updating everything works fine except the buttons.
The back button and search buttons do not respond to anything.
The home button is acting as the back button.
So essentially I don not have the search and home button. But the home button is working as the back button.
Can someone help me with this problem?
I'm on CM10 kernel, I tried Syiah 4.1 and the same problem persists.

Sorry my mistake, I actually just updated the rom, because the phone kept showing a notification about updating to the new Rom.
Regardless I'll just stick with 3.0.5 i900 version. The back and search key are a minimal loss to the 3.0.5 features.

Nor was your mistake "terrible" It wouldnt have broke anything, was just a far off from correct.

Could someone possibly help with a small problem... I cant seem to get the home button to work anymore instead i have to press to the right similar to how the new Nexus works. I would prefer pressing the button but cant see any settings for it. Hope this description is reasonably clear

if it was after a flash.... try reinstalling from your back up.... could be a bad flash or an incompatible rom?

That's my guess, and what I'm trying to determine with my above question. If he did flash something, I'm guessing he flashed an I777 ROM to his I9100, or he actually has an I777, and flashed an I9100 ROM.

Yep, i flashed the Resurrection Remix ics v1.1 PRO[XXLPE] rom but as I was getting a few problems I flashed the Turkbey V5 back. I was getting the same problem with Resurrection Remix as well as some fc ?

Usual answer is factory reset, see if that helps. If not, re-flash your ROM. If that doesn't help, re-flash back to stock.
Did you follow the steps for installing RR 1.1 fully, wipe dalvic, apply after boot fixes etc? There is a good walkthrough somewhere on this forum, check it out.
I made a more detailed walkthrough for Remix (in my sig) but v1.2 will be out any moment which will be more "n00b" proof with less steps. I'd wait for it, if you are considering to try it again.

I have some issues and I'm hoping someone here could help shed some light on.
I was on ICS 4.0.3 and avoiding 4.0.4 due to brickbug issues. but I guess I couln't resist anymore and decided to give it a try. I tried to stay far away from buggy kernel so I used mobile odin to flash I9100XWLPT plus siyah 3.5.2 on one go
the result was a failure however, kernel flashed but firmware wiped (S2 logo was appearing but nothing else / softbrick ?).
Then I said oh well its not (hard)bricked or anything so I decided to use odin to flash I9100XWLPT, than siyah. It went ok but I lost mtp connectivity, tried s3 ported ui... didn't fly as well . Maybe something wrong with siyah 3.5.2 I thought, so tried an older siyah which I did not have an issue with h4.0.3. Situation did not improve however.
Then I flashed my old 4.0.3 and wiped, all ok mtp ok, upgraded to 4.0.4, all go, mtp ok.
Flashed siyah 3.5.2, mtp fails again. Tried android's own factory reset (not the on the boot menu, one on the personalization menu). Ended up with soft brick again (no boot only charging animation and odin mode). Flashed 4.0.4 again.
But this trial and eror process is going more dangerous by the minute I guess, so I decided to ask for support.
Do I do anything wrong? I want to upgrade to 4.0.4 everything as close as possible to stock, plus root and tocuhwiz from s3. its not too much to ask I guess.
Any suggestions and any explanations are very welcome also,

I have 4.0.4 since 4th July with its stock kernel and it works perfectly well, I upgraded from 4.0.3 but I never did any wipes just updated on top of 4.0.3 and booted the phone, rooted from chainfires CF root thread, try it that way, worked for me and still is working.

Thanks If all else fails I'll try that, but siyah is a good kernel and it seems to be more battery efficient too.
If its a problem I failed to check with siyah I can go 4.0.4 kernel way but it makes me nervous to run a buggy kernel.

Totally agree Siyah is good I used it on 4.0.3 but it seems to fail on 4.0.4 at the moment I have not actually tried the latest one so it may well be good but I am looking to upgrade to SG3 next week so just want to keep my phone going for the time being no more playing around with this one until I have my new one.
I am using LQ5 which is reported as the buggiest but I can honestly say I have not had any problems at all, battery life appears good enough to me, depends how much you use it I guess.

Thanks, pardon me if I'm being paranoid but I just read a tread about nand corruption so, this isn't something like that I assume. (Odin flash failed and left me with soft brick out of the blue). Did not notice anything about siyah 3.5.2 either so the problem may be with my phone memory.
P.S Prior sentence reads as "Please prove me wrong"
I switched to speedmod kernel, and figured siyah had MTP problems with either 4.0.4 ics or 3.5.2
I asked same questions to those kernels' respective topics & thus this tread fulled it's purpose. Thanks kindly for anyone who read & replied

I recently installed the super nexus i777 ROM on my Galaxy s2 I777. I keep getting the errors:
unfortunately the process "com.google.process.gapps" "android keyboard (AOSP)" "System UI" has stopped. you can either close or report.
I went from Semi v15b w siyah 3.4 kernel to this one (my phone was working perfectly and always has). i completely wiped the phone, wiped the dalvik, wiped the cache... installed the supernexus rom, installed G-apps, and installed Siyah 3.5. at first the phone didnt want to boot up at all. so i went back into my recovery mode (by holding power, vol+/-) and i used the kernel cleaner script and didnt reinstall the jellybean siyah kernel. after that the phone booted up fine after but now im getting those constant errors.
other than those errors, the rom seems to be running very smoothly. and i really like the look of it.
Please help! im not very active on here..i used to be an iphone lover...but not anymore...and for the most part ive never had any problems with any ROM/Kernel ive tried.

had you read my entire post, i did catch the siyah thing i changed to the v4....but thats not the problem...it did not fix the errors i keep getting with the supernexus rom
Now im still getting the errors, ive even changed to another rom/kernel (mystic glory w the kernel includedin the ROM)
now that im using Mystic Glory, im still getting "unfortunately (exchange service etc...) has stopped"

and i still havent had my question answered... I installed supernexus, with siyah 4. i keep getting constant errors (unfortunately (gapps, android keyboard etc..)has stopped)
so i wiped off supernexus in recovery... installed mystic glory as its packaged on here....still getting errors.
i was on semiv15b w siyah 3. with no problems.
is the problem my phone or the rom/kernel?

Go back to stock and then flash again and see if it happens. Also, clear data for all those apps and see if that helps

Did u by chance fail? Or mistype? As Nick said this is the sgs2 forum.
Did you flash ics gapps? This happened to me, and that was the issue. Ics gapps right above jb gapps, and a cracked screen.

Unfortunately I cannot ask questions in specific thread, so I would like to do it now.
I have a problem after flashing LS8, specifically Wanamlite v.14. For some time phone works perfectly, until it suddenly switches off. I am able to power it up, but it freezes on the first screen with logo and model number. I am however able to access recovery.
And so I did - accessed recovery, flashed rom again, unfortunately, the only thing that worked was to do a full factory reset.
It worked... for a while. Then the story repeated itself. This time I did exactly the same, but started digging: some reported, that it might be a problem with kernel, which is Philz newest 4.00 b22. So I changed kernel: Dorimanx 7.44 - got serious overheating problems and the same probem. Jeboo 1.2 - the same. I then discovered, that eg. Jeboo has something from Philz kernel, so I flashed earlier version of Jeboo 1.1f. I am currently at this stage. Oh, btw. my chip is insane, if it changes anything.
Can anyone please tell me if you had similar problems, maybe not only users of Wanamlite, but other roms (which would confirm problems with kernel)? Can anyone tell me if there is any solution? Or at least does anyone knows what is happening? It is getting really weird, as I have been reading post of people reporting identical problem as I have, but devs seem to avoid the topic... Or maybe you guys are working hard to find out what is the problem - in that case a simple one line statement "we are aware. working on it" will suffice. Please, I am starting to be desperate here...

Yes it is, try to always download from xda.
You've experienced conflict between ROM & Kernel. Always check the custom ROM thread and read it upside down so you can spot potential issues regarding this kinda conflict.

I did it, however, which is weird, only some of people reported it and dev, who in this case is Wanam, did not reply.
And I know, that it seems to be a conflict between rom and kernel, but how is it possible that not everyone had this issue while flashing Wanamlite with factory reset and kernel included in the rom? Nevertheless, I am sticking with Siyah for the while and see what happens.

I have the same issue, it seems with LS8 whenever I reboot, there's a 50-50 chance my phone will "die" and I'll need a complete wipe and rom install
If I do a hot boot within Titanium Backup, guaranteed my phone will brake.
This happens with Siyah, PhilZ and Jeboo, it's not really a kernel issue, now a Wanamlite's issue since people on NEATROM also said they suffered the same issue, there's some problem with the firmware, seems that whenever the phone doesn't shut down properly, it won't start again.
Wish I could provide a log, but since phone totally dies, I don't know how to retrieve it.
@op: you got a siyah q&a thread sticked in the Q&A section.
Why don't you guys flash stock while you sort this out?
Custom ROMs will be updated soon now that ls8 is out. Therefore kernels will be updated as well.

I'm having the same problem too. I have been using the Stock LS8 and Philz Kernel (4.00 b22-b30). I stopped using Siyah b4 in the previous JB Stock Leak because I had isues with the camera freezing.
Any suggestion?

Well I am still on siyah v6.b4. So far so good. But I am not too happy with battery life... You might try jeboo 1-1f, as some reported it doesn't cause any problems. I had jeboo 1-2 for a while but out generated the same bootloop...

What do you mean by that? We are discussing here ls8 kernels, aren't we? Newest Phillz is a stock one based on ls8, afaik.

Hi there,
Can you please help me, I am a NOOB and I been looking and trying to fix my phone for a week and I cant work it out, therefore I come here seeking your help, I would very much value ideas or solutions you could provide.
I will be as brief as possible.
When I try to flash a new Rom, my phone gets stuck on the boot screen, there are only two roms that load, one freezes, the others roms wont boot.
All started like this:
I originally had RR JB V3.1.3 AOKP 4.2.1 I9100
Then changed to
AllianceROM_I9100_XWLSS_V8, look good but thought of trying the aokp i9100 jb-mr1 milestone-1, when trying to swap I made the mistake of doing a factory reset to find out that I could not access the roms on my sdcard.
so I then installed (I9100_CODE_I9100XXLP2_CL57619_REV02_user_low_ship.tar) it all worked as it went to stock. I rooted the phone again, tried installing the AllianceRom, but it didnt want to load, tried the Aokp again it did work, but then once the screen turns off it wont respond...
tried super nexus, did not want to work. tried updating CMW, it doesnt want to... Tried Jellybam, did not load...
So I tried and reloaded RR JB V 3.1.3 as I already have and it works, it is the only rom that works successfully, But if I try to go on to CMW, it doesnt work anymore, and it seems that once I try to use CMW it makes the rom unstable... So it seems that I can only use one Rom at the moment. Clearly I must of done something wrong at some point but I dont know what. I dont even know what to search for to fix it.
I tried different tools to see if they would help and no luck, such as, GS2ROMNuke, Romreset and Romwipe, Darkside cache and superwipe.
I hope someone can help me out in working out what I did wrong or what is happening.

Try kernel nuke then flash another kernel say siyah as its got cwm. Should be good then mate. Then install alliance rom. Also when you installed and booted for first time on these roms did you try wipe cache and dalv cache fix Permission ??

Thanks for the tip... I did try however I dont have access to cwm anymore once I install RR.
The only way I can get CWM to work again, is installing speedmod-kernel-s2-k2-21- through Odin but then the rom doesnt work anymore.
I tried the kernel nuke, I have tried installing siyah kernel with RR, but no luck it doesnt go into cmw. keep getting a message Kernel Panic...
anymore suggestions?
Could I have done something on the mounts? I dont know, but I cant think of what is going on.

One final question, why is it that the RR Rom is the only one to work rather well? (CMW does not work once the rom is intalled)

RR is runing rather well,I have tried it... I have currently stock installed and it is working just fine....

Yes, but you don't need to worry (as long as you're not on 4.0.4), and that's that.
