Viewpad 7a 'Enhanced' (RC1)
Viewpad 7a is a quick and dirty modification of the stock firmware from Viewsonic. This should be a decent alternative to the stock image, with improved performance and appearance.
Highlights:
- Removed the 'Welcome' logo and replaced with stock android boot animation.
- Replaced stock boot image with overclocked version: Credit goes to TJ Style @ Modaco.
- Minor framework modifications (got rid of annoying white status bar, and misc images).
- All packaged applications remain, but I will add or remove any upon request.
- Enabled hardware acceleration.
Notes:
- Firmware should work with compatible devices such as: Cherry Mobile Superion, Commtiva Linx N700, Olivepad VT-100, Spice MI700, and Camangi FM600....but I do not have these devices, so I cannot verify. As always make a backup before installing any custom firmwares.
Known Issues:
- You may receive an error from Swype upon initial use to the effect that 'it's not meant for this firmware and may be limited'. I haven't had any issues since seeing this, and have disregarded it for the time being.
- Root condition has been known to intermittently go away. Remedy this by running Super One Click again after you've flashed the ROM.

I'm currently working on a Vanilla AOSP port of Gingerbread for this device, and this will be the main focus of my effort. I will try my best to answer any bug reports or requests for changes to this firmware, but won't make any promises.
As always a big thanks to everyone in the Android community that shares they're knowledge and support.
To install this firmware use ClockworkMod to flash the zip file. (I use version 2.5.1.2). Information on rooting and installing an alternative recovery partition is available here.

Update (August 22nd, 2011): I've deactivated the download link until I get time to put out a better update with ITE support.
If I am not wrong this device is similar to Commtiva N700/ Spice Mi-700/ Olive Pad VT-100.
Nice to hear someone taking the initiative for development on this device
I've added the compatible devices I'm aware of to the first post. I may take advantage of CM scripting in the Gingerbread port. Will update when I have time. I've attached a screenshot from the froyo firmware below if anyone is interested.
I've been using it for the past two days without any issues. I borrowed a SIM card from a friend today to test the data connectivity and call function. Both work flawlessly. The battery life isn't as good with the CPU overclocked, but it's worth it for the extra boost of performance.
I was planning to get this device with my first salary which is few months from now
BTW, To make things easier you can use Cyanogen 7 which I think is having support for similar hardware.
Can MeeGo 1.2 be ported for this Device?
It will be releasing this April.

Looks good.
But I prefer Android with its vanilla looks.
Can LCD density be used with this Tablet? does it work?
Please check that out.
Nice to see someone finally making a custom ROM for this device. Would be nice to have something like HyperDroidGBX for the HD2 using AOSP, Redux, CyanogenMod.... that's one hell of a nice piece of Gingerbread.
Hopefully the Viewpad 7 will get its own sub-forum and your ROM will be the first in it.
Cheers!

I don't know enough about MeeGo to comment, but I imagine it is possible...just not sure how feasible or worthwhile it would be to port it.

I think if there's enough community interest XDA may create a dedicated forum for these devices. We'll see.
Thank you for your work. On the Russian forum owners viewpad 7 Your beginnings of this work has generated enormous interest. Would you in their versions of the firmware to include more locations? Good luck in your work. Sorry for the English.

Adding a Russian keyboard and locales would not be difficult if you know of another ROM that is using them in Froyo, or perhaps someone has them on a repo somewhere?
Great to see this!
I just bought a Viewpad for my wife, so this is perfect!

I have clockworkmod recovery installed, works, and overclock boot.img installed works too.
My VIEWPAD 7 has still stock ROM with Chinese handwriting touch, if I flash this custom ROM, do I loss Chinese handwriting function ?
Does all wifi, bluetooth, GPS, 3G network, multi-touch remain the same ?
Also, I am looking for App2SD script, to extend my internal /data/apps -> mSD card (ext2/3/4) paritition too.
thanks, cheers

I order a viewpad 7 from amazon on saturday. I had some concern about it and was wondering if I made the right choice. Now that I see that you are working on increasing its performance, I feel comfortable with my choice now.
I install gappinstaller v5 on a archos 70 and 101 with no problem by following the step by step direction. I dont have my viewpad 7 as yet but I hope the installation goes smoothly. I donate
I flashed it to a WellcoM A800 and the GSM radio doesn't work anymore. Whatever I do it indicates that I'm in airplane mode. I tried with three different SIM cards with the same result.
Please advise...
Thanks

The ViewPad finally arrived this morning. Got it all rooted, CWM'd and the ROM installed.
Nice work!
The wife will love it when she gets home tonight!
I'll definately let you know if I come up with any suggestions.
Well, one suggestion now:
move all the non-essential apps from system to data so they're easily removable.
Actually I can do that myself in a little bit...
Looking forward to Gingerbread!
Thanks again!
Hi I have an Infotmic Wowpad that has been with me for around a year now and I've been wondering how I could update it.To me its a real brick as its so bloody slow and its battery life is bad too.I want to do a major upgrade to this tablet so I could play numerous games, watch movies and videos and other things like Skype.Another problem is that the old Android Market on this supports only like 5 apps for my tab! .Plz can someone help me update this thing with a easy simple way.I dont even know if its rooted or not and I would love to update it to either a fast and less laggy version of Froyo,Gingerbread or ICS.Some important info to know:
1.Model Number-deb
2.Firmware version-2.1-update1
3.Kernel version-2.6.32.9
4.Build number-deb-r2.1.1561
Thats pretty much it and it would be great if someone helped me turn it into a daily device as I have seen many reports on the net that this device can turn out amazing.
Thanx for reading and hopefully i can change this tablet as soon as possible.

i dont find any gb or ics updates
Btw are Infotmic Wowpads already rooted and should i root it before doing this if it isnt rooted and where do i find 2.1 v3245 coz i dont have that one....

Moving to Q&A
I found site with tutorial:
www.androidtablets.net/forum/gome-f...roid2-1-stable-smooth-fast-unofficial-63.html
But there is link with firmware on megaupload which is closed and i can't find any other site
Sent using r800i with DoomKernel v14 (1.21ghz)
One quick question...is Flytouch2 already rooted, does it need to be rooted with some kind of app?
I can't help u too much with it but i think u don't need root.
As i read from sites (i gave in previous posts): when u start ur device from SD card with rom it should start flashing/copying files so it has installed sth what let u do it and u dont need nothing new (like root)
I can say that on my Xperia i dont need root to flash roms, so its possible that u dont need it too
Sent using r800i with DoomKernel v14 (1.21ghz)
Should i just use the sites XDA have said to use to get android.rar, because androidtablets said if that megaupload didnt work that we should go to XDA's choice of mediafire...another question is this the one i wanted 2.1 v3245?

Problems with generic RK2918 ICS tablet
Hi all!!
I'm new to this forum (and pretty much to Android scene in general), so please, be lenient with me in case I unadvertedly infringe any forum norm. The matter is, I've been looking for some info about a generic RK2918 tablet I bought about 2 years ago, to no avail. As of late, the device is acting strangely (random reboots and/or stuttering running apps that it managed effortlessly a couple months ago...). I'd like to know how to flash it, as well as which rom I should install in order to make my tablet reach its maximum potential. I've heard great things about Oma's CM 10.1 AOSP roms, but I don't know which one would suit my device best.
My device's specs go as follows:
The tablet is a IMD "|97D", a 9.7" inch, 4:3 aspect ratio screen running under Android ICS 4.03
RK 2918 CPU at 1.2 GHz
1 GB DDR3 memory
16 GB NandFlash
max 32GB microSD support
WIFI 802.11 b/g/n support
G-Sensor
dual micro USB, one of them OTG
10 point capacitive screen with IPS 1024 * 768 resolution
2MP front and back cameras
The device is currenly running under its default firmware (i.e. no root access). Any help and/or piece of advice on how to proceed would be extremely welcome. Thanks in advance!!
Sir Oma,
I flashed this rom to my Alcatel One Touch T10, CrewRKTablets_RK29_AOSP_4.2.2_r1_v1.3_20130714 with stock kernel 308 Alcatel T10 and
applied CrewRKTablets_AOSP_4.2.2_Format_NAND_fix. It is pretty stable however the battery status monitoring is not working. I have also
tried the other kernels said to be compatible with T10 notably the Pascal2 kernels. They seemed to work Ok but the screen display was
off-center, display was leaning to the right side of the screen. Same result when using the other stock kernel 308 Alcatel T10_2.
My only concern is the battery status monitoring, it remains stationary all through the whole hours of tablet use. Charging detection
is also not working. The rom however can detect the current battery status only when rebooting. I did try to apply the akku fixes for
JB and CM10, (though not intended for the AOSP rom) none worked. It ended up in bootloops.
Can you suggest a battery fix intended for CrewRKTablets_RK29_AOSP_4.2.2_r1_v1.3_20130714 rom? Of all the JB 4.2.2 offering found
at CrewRKTablets site, this rom proved to be useful and stable to my Alcatel One Touch T10 tablet. There are some minor function
issues like display resize "fit to standard screen" option, it does not work. Camera image is upside down. But I guess to a standard
user (like me) these function should not pose a serious problem as installing and running apps intended for JB 4.2.2 works smoothly.
Thank You and More Power!
@ tinko75, tried the BQ-pascal kernels too but to no good.
Hello,
I´ve got the neo X7 and because my sis and i want to use it and i have heard that you can choose between two accounts at this ROM i want to installt it.

You can't update the browser unless you root the device. If you just root it, the OS is so old you may not find a browser that will run on it. You really need to update the OS with a new ROM.
This is the 8gb model, right? Reports are that the limited RAM makes anything past KitKat (CM 11) problematic. I have posted some older ROMs :https://forum.xda-developers.com/nook-tablet/general/cm-10-11-nook-8-gb-tablet-t3570821
I'd recommend a pico GApps package from opengapps.org for the CM 11 ROMs. There is a GApps package I included with one of the ROMs which was posted along with it originally, but I think it would be better not to overload the system. A pico package will basicallyy get you PlayStore access and nothing else (not even Gmail). Then you can add whatever you want (and not have what you don't want busy in the background).
If you want to try for Lollipop (CM 12.1), I have the file. Let me know.
Thank you! I was mistaken; the model is BNTV250...which, I gather, is the 16G.
I've researched rooting, and it appears that an SD card is usually required. There is little - meaning no - money to spend here, so I've also looked into other methods...such as kingroot. I'm a risk-taker, but I know so little about all of this.
"I have posted some older ROMs (see general section above this one) and you could try one of those. I'd recommend a pico GApps package from opengapps. If you want to try for Lollipop (CM 12.1), I have the file. Let me know." Beg pardon?
Please forgive the delays in my responses - I can only access this site while on a laptop.
Thank you greatly!

OK. The 16 gb is much better in terms of what's available and up-to-date. I have one and am using the AOSP 7.0 ROM (instructions for installation here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nook-tablet/general/how-to-installing-aosp-android-7-0-t3578665).
Don't be fixated on root. It is not going to solve your issues with updating the browser because the B&N Android version underneath all their stuff is 2.3. Current Android OS is 7.1 so......... You can see that finding a browser (or other apps) for the older system is not going to be easy and the results will be less than thrilling.
The safest way is flashing a ROM using an SD card (rooting is generally part of the package). I'd be very careful about kingroot. It may or may not work, but in any case you'd still be stuck on Android 2.3.
Maybe you can borrow an SD card?
Edit: but maybe you do just want to root and see if you can find a browser that will be better. In that case there is a simple guide somewhere in this forum, but it does require the use of an SD card

i need a latest software for my nook color model no BNRV200
i fount it difficult to connect as it so
hows network lost to local network
Got my hands on this device and would love to gift it to my mom but currently it has a really bad software with no native language which is a must. Since its a spare device I have laying around now I thought I could experiment on it and see if I could get a Lineage OS running on it. She is only gonna use the dialer, messages and possibly the camera so Play store and other apps are not needed.
I have some experience in modding and flashing but i've never ported a rom or created a rom for that matter so this will perhaps be my 1st one.
I've read through tutorials and all but feels quite overwhelming (maybe i'm reading at the wrong places or misinterpreting) but i'm hoping to fill that gap.
So the questions I have, is it possible to flash firmware from a similar phone with some minor changes and hope it'll work or is my only route to extract firmware blobs from phone and use that to create a LineageOS of the same android version with all the other steps required?
Phone has
