Google Voice on 3rd party app? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been searching for some type of app that will let me use Voice on it. The Voice app doesn't put texts in the inbox so alerts don't pop up for them, and I can't make it default to texts either, the app is rather limited. Anyone know of a mms app or maybe an IM client that can have voice as an account, or any ideas at all? I've found zero alternative options to using the Voice app.

Er, yes. That's the app I can't find a substitute for. I need an alternative app that logs into my Voice account.

Recommend a Voicemail saving App?

Can anyone recommend an app that will save, as a file, voicemails? I'm looking to save to SD card, for example. Thanks!
I'm pretty sure visual voicemail from T-mobile does that and Google voice sorta does it, meaning you have to download from the web interface rather than the app itself.
I don't see any save option in tmo voicemail, but I'll check out Google talk.

That's a good app idea if it's possible with all the different carriers' voicemail setups. Did you search 'voicemail' in the market to see what kinda apps came up?

Why bother to add an app when you already have the Voice Recorder built-in inside the rom?
Play the voicemail through speaker and using Voice Recorder to recorded it then

Google Voice. Not Talk.
TMO VVM Works
Use T-Mobile's VVM.
Long Press the VVM you would like to save and you will have a couple of choices for saving your VM.
Forward to:
Bluetooth
Gmail
Mail
You will then have a file to download in your chosen method of forwarding with your VM attached.
-OR-
Copy to:
It will then allow you to name the file and save it in a directory of your choice on your SD Card.
Cheers.
I hope this helps.
Please keep all question related threads in the Q&A section. Thanks!

Forward phone's sms to google voice?

Is it possible to have texts sent to my phone's carrier number forwarded to my Google voice inbox like my voicemails. That way I have access to them on my tab.
I don't know anything about google voice, but I use an app called "Tablet Talk" it syncs txt messages via bluetooth and works great

Are their any free apps that will do this?
I don't know sorry :-(

[Guide]Integrate Google Voice with Native Dialer App

I have tested this in CM10/CM10.1 and I can make/receive calls through wifi in the native dialer app
1. Download Google Voice on your SGP and set it up.
2. Download Sipdroid and open. Tap on "New PBX linked to my Google Voice." Enter your Google password on the bottom
3. You will recieve an email from pbxes.org telling you to go log in at pbxes.org
4. After logging in at pbxes.org, click on extensions (left side), then click on Sipdroid <200>.
5. Enter your password under device options. Note your account username (should be YOUR_GMAIL_HERE-200). Click on submit on the bottom, them be sure to click on the red box to apply the changes.
6. In the native dialer app (AKA Phone app), go to settings, then to internet call Accounts (very bottom).
7. Enter your username (YOUR_GMAIL-HERE-200) and password. The server is pbxes.org. Tick set as primary account.
8. Under optional settings, change transport type to tcp.

EDIT: Google Voice (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.googlevoice) is incompatible with SMP 5.0 (YP-G70)

Should work where Google voice is available. I think that is just US.

Chile
I'm living in Chile, and it also works here.
To set up a Google Voice Number I had to do some tricks involving a US phone number to verify my account.
I don't know if that's still necessary, though.
The only problem I am facing is, that at pbxes I can't figure out what to put in "dial rules". It's a lot of trial and error, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't..

I cannot proceed. Google voice says to me that my phone number cannot be verifyed. Is this due to I'm Spanish and we don't have google voice? Does it have any solution?

That is my solution too. I think it is easier with GrooveIP. I'd like to know if SipDroid solution is more stable, maybe?
either way, props to the OP! Great tutorial!

This way makes it integrated with the system dialer app so you can make calls via the phone app. In my opinion, this way looks much nicer than using something like GrooveIP.

You have to have cm10 for the native dialer part. Yes sipdroid is safe, run by pbxes. It is saying unauthorized access because they are logging into chat from their server, which is probably far from where you live.

Alright thanks a lot for the info. What a relief. I felt worried that someone had hacked my account. Changed my password and everything. So basically I'm better off with groove ip. I wanted to try sipdroid with csipsimple. Not sure how to though.

[Q] Google voice/SMS integration?

Hey guys. So I have a WiFi only device and am without a phone for a while so I use this to text and call people. The only problem is that the only app that lets me text with wifi is Google voice, and I HATE the horrible UI and orginization. I have the stock SMS app and found the app GV integration. It worked until my device got CM10.1. Now I receive the text fine in my SMS app but it gives no notification so I don't know if I even got a text. I found this is a problem with 4.2.2 but it seems the dev has abandoned the app. I hate the textfree and textnow and Google voice+text app and I want to keep using my Google voice number, but I can't find an app that allows me to do that. Is there an app I can use or could someone take the GV integration app and work on it to fix notifications?

I dloaded google voice after cancelling sprint. Is it possible to get the sprint# off here and enter my google voice #? Dunno if possible but trying to use voice to make n receive calls and maybe text over my wifi.
Log on to you Google account from your web browser select Google voice. In voice on the browser there is a gear that represents settings and there you can disable you sprint integration
