Preface
Building android from source is not as hard as it sounds. I urge all enthusiasts to try to build their personal ROM on their own. Why copy a prebuilt binary when android gives you the chance to build it from sources?
Step1: Setup a build machine
Setup a real or VM machine using the info from here.
Step2: Checkout the code
Code:
repo init -u git://github.com/MiniCM/android.git -b ics
repo sync -j16
Step3: Build MiniCM
Code:
. build/envsetup.sh
lunch cm_mimmi-eng
brunch cm_mimmi-eng
Step4: Ready to flash!
Pickup the build from out/target/product/mimmi/MiniCM9-xxx.zip
Step5: Contribute!
You got an idea on how to improve this rom? Try to implement it by looking at the code and seeing how similar things are already done.
Android is based on open-source spirit: You got it working? Share the patches for everyone to enjoy!
This is great, thanks nAa

Just installed the 21st Sept nightly. This is really good ! Thanks nAa !
I know you said no support for nightlies, but I had a question about apps getting killed too often. I have more than 80 MB free, but I find that apps get killed within 20-30 seconds and take really long to open up after I exit(using Home button), use some other app and then come back to this one. Is there any setting that I can change so that it keeps apps like the launcher, phone & messaging in memory ?
Could you add that option if its not already there ? Because those are the apps that you tend to use a lot, and need to have quick access to always dont you think ?
I understand if you dont get time to answer these questions, but just putting it out there for anyone else who might know some tricks to make it work like that.
Oh wait. Actually, my RAM is really low. It sometimes goes down to 0 and then something gets freed up.
I was looking at internal storage before when i said 80 MB.
Damn, I guess I should look at what I can uninstall to free up some RAM.
I saw some improvements after setting SD card swap to 32 MB and enabling kernel samepage merging
Trying 128 MB swap now.

nAa, thank you very much. You may place a mirror on Dropbox, Google Drive or similar? or at least the latest version nightly

What's the problem with the current mirror?
This is a space I bought specifically for hosting the MiniCM project.

The mirror is fine from my end... Good speeds no problems. But what do I know.
Anyway, I didn't know ICS was still in active development after JB came out. Hope this will be good.
Thanks.
Excuse me nAa, a little slow but it finally works for me. Another concern: Nigthly's for jb? :fingers-crossed:

Nightlies for MiniCM10 will come after another official release of it. Some things have to be worked out, incorporated and stabilized first.
Then all can kang it as per the usual process ...

A nightly is kinda like a developer version, each version may have small tweaks and fixes, to improve performance and stability. A nightly is usually not for stable use, while the 'original MiniCM9' is a stable version

Ok Repo syncing right now.
Just installed the build from yesterday, and it's really fast and smooth.
It seems it's even faster from the stable build.
Correct me if I am wrong.
Btw, is this based on the stable CM9 sources? EDIT: apparently
Thanks for this, and God bless you nAa!

Hi, is there any change log for the latest nightly build on 29th. It would be better to know the changes before flashing the nightly. May be a noob question.

That bug will never be fixed by the cyanogen team, because it is only on the X8 and maybe X10 mini/mini pro, and since these phones aren't officially supported by the cyanogen team, they won't do anything with it. Only nAa can do something about that.

I actually saw this coming lol. I'll flash once I get done compiling Ubuntu Touch, big time. Slim is one of my favorite ROMS.
Thank you for keeping the support on nook. What is the recommeded kernel for this rom(I installed so many kernels that i'm lost here lol)?
The NT was the kid's Christmas present last year. I'm so stealing it tomorrow and flashing this. Thanks for all that you have done with that little tablet.
Using TWRP 2.6.3.1 i'm getting blackscreen. Not sure what went wrong(got some unable to mount \bootdata error).
Edit1: Tried with CWM 6.0.4.5, no error on wipe, format system and flash, but still getting blackscreen.
Does that rom replaces de kernel or i will have to get the stock back?
Boot Anim takes a little longer to show up.
Full wipe+ format /system and reflash rom and wait a little
It should boot up.
And yes rom replaces current kernel as it has another one in so will flash that and replace inbuild one.

I keep getting an error executing updater binary when trying to install. I tried re-downloading and a different data cable. I tried CWM and TWRP. Slim 4.22 installs fine, any ideas? Is there a mirror for this ROM?
any1 able to get it running in any form or fashion? or still the black screen. if so lmk. kinda quiet. but then again it WAS just christmass and new years is coming up.

seems very logical, his unofficial cm11 build is sweet. i dont get the nav bar (the back home and processes buttons on the bottom) and youtube is broke but i dont use those. and i have windows taskbar and pie controls that help me navigate so its pretty nice but still. the fact that things are broken makes me want to go to 4.2 as well 4.3 has ALOT of problems even over on cyanogenmod stable. with his bexus-n kernel 4.2 is prolly the best solution for now. but they are making GREAT headway. i applaud there progress. especially demetris the NT god :good::good::good:
Gave up and back to [4.4] CM 11 Unofficial -WIP-NookTablet(Acclaim) from Demetris.
not that it TRULY matters because chris has takin the reigns of the nook tablet development, but i suspect this will be if not IS a dead thread. since demetris has picked up a new toy and has join another devices development. would have been nice for him to finish it before he had bid farewell but, he has done soooo much already. cant expect him to do everything. thx demetris (no sarcasm)
If you knew me better you wouldn’t suspect that
I will never give up on NookTablet is just that newer Slim is not booting up(black screen).
I will have a look into it when time permits
If no one minds i'm actually syncing the slim git right now, going to try a build myself and see where it goes. Hopefully I can help in some way. I'm also looking to build a handfull of other roms for the device.
Fingers crossed!
Sent from my SGH-I747M using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You will face the great blackscreen after N logo.
I did compile it a week ago without any positive results(cm11 and my own kernel)
As i said in January i wouldnt give up but i had no positive results to announce but never the less,
Good luck. :fingers-crossed:
Awesome, hope somebody gets it going. Thanks for all the hard work guys!

Man nightly 20140717 is awesome! But somehow I can't find performance control.
Edit:
No deep sleep again. This is strange because I didn't have that problem in carbon rom.
In latest 07-31 com.android.wallpapercroper has forced close while chossing wallpaper through theme chooser, after flashing rom device is not charging but this thing resolved after reboot... other things are working good, pretty fast and smoothly...
my urushi and the smultron of my wife got a problem:
our service provider names (SPN) don't get recognized by the phones.
she's using MEDIONmobile (reseller of E-PLUS) but her statusbar and lockscreen says E-PLUS
my spn is netzclub but phone says O2 - DE
I already tried spnOverride in spn-conf.xml without luck.
could any1 help me resolving this?
there are some more problems.
I can't configure the auto brightness levels like in LX CM11
Spoiler
the default minimum is way too low
and there's no bugtracker for our sony ericsson devices on aokp.co
Using latest build from 11sep2014 here, got no problems with deepsleep, all works as promised.
Really found zero bugs so far, and after 24hrs of average use still 50% of battery left.
Amazing rom, very fast, good to use daily and be impressed with speed of this ancient cpu.
Hey, i flashed the nightly version 11/09/14 and the phone gets stuck in boot screen.
i had previously succesfully flashed cm-10.2-20140304-RELEASE-LegacyXperia-urushi (using the instructions of the wiki link provided). It worked fine but felt a little laggy so i thought to give nightly a shot. I formatted system /data / cache , die factory wipe before flashing nightly. Then i flashed Gapps (gapps-jb-20130813-signed) and the phone get stucked in LegacyXperia boot screen.
Did i do something wrong? i apologize in advance since i'm not very experienced with rom flasing.

you shouldn't flash jellybean gapps on a kitkat rom.
Ugh.. i'm dumb... thanks for pointing that out. I flashed again with the correct stuff, it loads fine. Thanks for your help
edit:
all works great, i love this rom
i've got another problem:
~once per day my phone slows down extremely and doesn't respond to touch or hardkey input for minutes..
this happens when I do things like opening big apps like gmaps, changing themes in theme engine or installation of big apps.
then the background image resets to holo theme.

CarbonROM is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look, build, and use our code at CarbonROM's GitHub... and at CarbonROM Gerrit.
Pre-Disclaimer:
THIS IS AN UNOFFICIAL BUILD. The intent is to showcase what is coming up soon. @frap129 and I have been working hard on getting taimen on a level we consider DD ready, especially from a security side of things.
Please keep any problems with those builds in this thread, we don't accept any bugreports for unofficial builds anywhere else.
Disclaimer:
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash!
Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
Notice:
This build includes GApps for now. We're still working on ways to not prebundle it.
Before you flash, make sure you're on the latest 8.1 stock builds (and bootloader), then flash the ROM in TWRP.
MORE IMPORTANT NOTICE: We are very proud to announce that we are the first and only custom ROM to actually get the Now Listening Feature working on AOSP.

Is this ROM still in testing? And I tread that were supposed to have latest stock 8.1 build.. what's that supposed to mean?? I'm running RR Mod rn.. and I really wanna try carbon.. any help??
ROM is running very smooth! And it seems like it's the first one which doesn't push the cores of the G5 to 2GHz all the time so battery consumption is pretty low.
I had some crashes in the beginning after restoring APPs from Titanium Backup but by now no further issues. Camera is okay but could be better (crashes from time to time, 'Open Camera' is doing quite well!). But I guess this is due to the fact that Motorola hasn't released Oreo yet and some parts for building the camera parts properly.
- Magisk v16 works fine (had to install it twice but then worked)
- BT working
- ext. LTE support (can't test VolTE cause I don't have it)
- Safetynet passes
- SD Card access working
@rrajesh011, @vache - you did a very descent job! By now it's the best Oreo ROM I've tested.

can we dirty flash?
seems to work!
Does this ROM support substratum theme engine? @rrajesh011
That would be awesome because I don't like the white menus from the interface.
