Yes, I have this problem with all 4.0.4 versions (starting from wanamlite 12.3). Seems to be the problem is with the samsung code.
No solution yet, so I am back to wanamlite 12.1
P.S. Few people do report to have a fast lock with LPU - not sure how, but maybe there is some difference in hardware...

Next version will be based on XWLPX - that still has this problem (but working slightly better than previous one).
I am still wondering how some other users claim fast gps lock...

With this solution I get a little bit faster GPS fix:
Setting > location services > Google location service:
enable --> disable and then enable.

Is there some way to report this issue to Samsung ?
In the past, Nexus also had a GPS lock problem when 4.0.4 was released. Then Google fixed it.
Probably Samsung took this code and based there roms on it.

I have Passion ICS 13.1 ROM. My GPS doesn't work. I've tried the physical hardware fix. But I still get 12 satellites in view but 0 in use.
How else can I get it to work?
I read something about kernals but I'm unsure. Anyone?
change kernel. try the newer kiss kernels or subzero.

Software. If it were hardware, you wouldn't see them at all, or they would be very weak, popping in and out as your phone struggled to lock.
Swyped, not typed, from my Digital Brick
Here are tons of discussions about this problem.
Long story short, try to install NStools and flash subzero#70 using rom manager.
Once it boots up, get a lock with your GPS before the phone goes to deep sleep...
for some reason, after you do this, next time you need your gps it will work... and you can also disable the GPS after that and enable whenever you want...
Sounds weird, but at least I got mine working doing this without need of reboot...
Give it a try

As official as it gets for SubZero kernel downloads:http://rootzwiki.com/topic/22833-kernelics15-apr-subzero-v11-build-70-extra-ordinary/
If you go to that page, you'll see that it's for ICS 4.0.4, and last time I checked, ICS Passion is 4.0.3. But I don't know if that will work or not.

I have tried several combinations of ics roms and different kernels with little success. I can get a lock but doesn't even try after deep sleep.
Heathens Charged at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1590559 is the only GB rom that has working gps for me. of course all the Froyo roms have good gps.

But will it work with ICS? I'm running Passion RC13.1
This issue repeats itself with 4 out of 5 galaxy s3 owners (owners which I know, that live in Israel):
I've always had GPS issues with my sgs3.
Most of the time I get around 8 satellites in view - I'm testing it using GPSTest.
Occasionally I get only 4-5 satellites with no fix.
At the same time and place, my HTC Desire Z (custom ROM), my Dad's sgs3 (original ROM from the cellular provider), my brother's sgs2 (custom ROM) and my girlfriends's sgs3 (custom ROM) get around 15 satellites with much higher db, much more stable signal and much much faster fix.
The same issue occurs in 3 other sgs3 with custom ROMs (2 of them are Omega ROMs).
Since I'm the go-to guy of my friends and family, I've tried to fix this problem in any way I could think of:
I've installed about 5 different ROMs - didn't help.
I even flashed a few days ago the latest official stock ROM and unofficial 4.2.1 stock ROM from samsung-updates.com - didn't help.
I've used FasterGPS and PimpMyROM to setup my location - these apps modify the gps.conf file - it helped temporarily - sometimes only until reboot, sometimes it didn't help at all.
I even went to a Samsung official lab, complaining I have a GPS issue - they installed the original 4.0.4 Israeli (I live in Israel) ROM and everything started working great again - I got 15-18 satellites in view, 1-2 seconds signal fix, high db signals - everything was working great.
Then I installed a custom ROM again (Omega is my default one) and since then this issue is back for good.
I've searched ALL of the forums, I've searched everywhere for a fix to this issue and came up with nothing besides temp fixes like FasterGPS etc.
Does anyone has a suggestion?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Try this fix. I've posted in other forums and many people have confirmed with me that it works.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2201668
Your custom ROM will incude a gps.conf file that works well in the country of the ROM chef, probably not for your country.
If the stock Israel ROM is working well for GPS then copy the whole gps.conf file from that ROM to your new ROM. I would assume the correct modem & RIL for Israel would also be essential for GPS.
An alternative is use the custom AGPS patch, which I've been using for years:

gps failure to lock gt-i9305t
Firstly a bit of history a stock i9305t rooted rom that showed failure of gps use was vrtoxin from a early version to one of the latter versions.
Followed maho's instructions at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help-i9305/how-to-fix-gps-location-locking-to-t3176151
by downgrading to stock rom then upgrading to stock 4.4 rom still gps an issue - no lock
Tried other apps and hardware fix as on you tube tightening screws etc.
Apps re applied region of gps location I think.
Then rooted phone to use other apps to do the above also.
Also previously flashed fixes by twrp to fix but not fixed. Same issue.
Using GPS fix to test no fix of gps no satelites etc.
About to purchase a new gps antenna in the upper housing of phone which includes torch light etc. or take to an service shop.
Just annoyed that is is probably hardware as all software options have been attempted.
Any other options or something I am missing this is a very large forum.
Currently running RR rom 6.0.1 mm with no gps

They are apps that supposedly help improve the GPS, however they didn't do anything. I guess I haven't really tried anything else out, I don't know what else I can do. I just don't understand why the sense GPS locks perfectly but it won't lock perfectly on the beanstalk or cm 11 roms. What options do I have in order to fix it?

Going to upload latest build of cm10.2
I made this rom for myself because Llior has removed his cm10.2 work. So, I started to compile again and made it again through sources. But I am going to upload soon. I want to see who are interested in this rom. By the way dont ask for eta. Well, I will make cm11 though too after this in my free time. Thanks Llior for device & kernel sources.
Known Issues:
Yes !!! They are still there -
1. No front camera
2. No led notification
Semi Working -
1. Wifi need workaround
2. Camera no gps error at all.
All other things are perfect.

Thanks alot and Yes !!! But call-in-audio is very low... I didn't found mixer_paths.xml to incerase it. I set minimum cpu at 700mhz and max at 1000mhz no heating issues or Battery Drain too.
Well, I have a question I repo sync the cm-11.0 but while compiling there is error related to awesomeplayer.cpp audio.cpp which is basically related to audio files.
Error was something like "warning initializers failed (wreoder) error 1".
I think vendor is cause. Can You give some tips or help me? Or I have to do any commits?

I'm with you if you happen to get your work back. (Stolen laptop, sucks.)
I have a 32gb international HOX but bought this HOX+ recently because camera and sim werent working.
Plus, the 62gb is better.
There is android 5.0 development for the internation 32gb
So I think it would be great for anything 4.4 or higher for the HOX+
Even finding a decent 4.2 for the ATT seems difficult
International versions were hard to find in the states.
Thanks!

WiFi can be used only through static IP or make your router IP static. Sources are not up to date so WiFi was never solved. This is the only work around. Change last 3 digit of IP. Count how many devices are connected if there is already 3 then make yourself 104 or 105... 101,102,103 is already allotted.
