Hi
I tried to read all the posts about wifi problems..didn't find a solution to my problem though.
I really want to install CyanogenMod 10 Unofficial - JRO03L ROM by Craig Gomez : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1803557
after flashing and rebooting, the wifi button remains gray and cannot be moved sideways
that happens with CM10 nightlies ROMs to
When I flashed EOS3 ROM, the wifi was OK
any help would be appreciated...
Thanks
Ronen
sorry if I'm nagging..it's just driving me crazy
no matter what I do, I can't get jellybean to work correctly on my prime
my prime is new, got it for my B-day 2 weeks ago
things I did so far:
1- unlocked with asus utility
2- got rooted (DebugfsRoot_Generic_v2.3)
3- flashed CWM v5.8.2.0
4- did nvflash successfully
5- changed CWM to TWRP v2.2.2.0
6- tried to flash cm10 over eos3 (only wiped cache and dalvik)
Nothing worked so far
on EOS3 I get wifi with no problem but I can't use the camera. every camera app I install is FC on me because it can't access the camera
on CM10 / Baked / Jellybro, the wifi button stays gray and there is a message on the screen "turning wifi on" and it stays like this
no problems with Android 4.0.3 Roms though
so you guys have any tips for me maybe? do you think replacing the kernel is a good idea?

Hi, I finally decided to post my question after many hours searching trough google and xda.
Two weeks ago like many of you I uptdated my x10 to pre-rooted 2.3.3 stock Rom. At this moment I successfully tested wifi hotspot and usb tethering built in fonctions.
But Recently I tried to use it again but any time I checked the option, Android activate it for a second, an then says me "error" under the option name. Usb tehter can't be reactived at all and wifi hotspot can be checked but always uncheck himslef with the error subtitle.
Anyone facing this issue or know where it can come from ? And maybe the fix of course ^^.
Hope I made my self clear because actually I'm french.

I use Baracle to solve the issue with wifi tethering
https://market.android.com/details?id=net.szym.barnacle&feature=search_result
Yeah this is the solution I used to adopte when was on 2.1. And it was the best until the update.
But as far as what I tested when built-in tether worked it's clearly better. Not just an Ah-hod network but a real hotspot. Basically it's easier for other devices to connect and remember the password without configuring everything especially on windows.
And the usb option was even better, nothing to configure, no password, battery charging during tethering.
Anyway thank for the advice, until I get the solution I'll probably continue to use this app.
When you say "solve the problem with wifi tethering", do you mean you have the same one ?

Please, no one else, am I the only one facing the issue ? Even on an other device maybe ?
Finally I used SEUS to repare and root it like azazu said. Everything is back. Didn't find any other solution

I have the same problem and it never has been working from the start ! but USB tethering has no problem. The only way to fix it is to re-flash ?
Well I guess this is the best until someone more expert than us find a solution. I made a reparation with SEUS (sony ericsson update service) and then restore all back with Titanium Backup. Remember to save your contacts and sms before (cause Titanium doesn't). It only took one hours to get it all back just like before (root, bravia, Xloud, fps uncap...)
Hotspot error UNSOLVED 2012-02-01
Here's what I've done so far. I've suffered from this issue on two different Samsung Galaxy TAB's 7" (1 generation), two different Samsung Galaxy S2, two different HTC Desire HD, one ZTE Blade.
This issue is NOT caused by:
*Manufacture of phone
*Internet Service Provider (ISP)
*Operator
*Bluetooth ON/OFF
*root ON/OFF
*Stock Kernel
*Mod Kernel
*Stock Rom
*Mod Rom
*Stock Modem
*Mod Modem
*Android version: 2.3+ has this issue. (I've experienced a different issue on 4.0+; the Hotspot is up running although no device can connect to it.)
The only solution I've found is:
(From Clockwork Recovery):
Wipe Data(system reset)
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik
Format Cache
Format Data
Format System
-Install a Rom (try a different one from what you are using right now).
Reboot
RESULT:
Hotspot working fine....for a while..
When it stops working; you'll have to do the steps above again. Install a different ROM, now you probably can return to your previously ROM which had this issue first. It will probably work. If it doesn't, switch ROM till you find one that works. Sometimes, total randomly; you will be able to use ROMS which this issue has been present earlier.
Yet, this is NOT a permanent solution. You will, no exceptions, experience this issue, on whatever ROM, modem, kernel, stock, not stock, phone, whatever, whatever you choose.
Here's one scenario which I couldn't figure out:
Galaxy TAB 7" 1st generation.
Android 2.3.4
*HOTSPOT ERROR*
WIPE/FORMAT
RE-Flashed Same Rom
*HOTSPOT WORKING*
1 hour later
*HOTSPOT ERROR*
WIPE/FORMAT
RE-Flashed Same Rom
*HOTSPOT WORKING*
5-10 minutes later
*HOTSPOT ERROR*
WIPE/FORMAT
RE-Flashed Same Rom
*HOTSPOT ERROR*
?????
I've also noticed that USB tethering is affected by this issue aswell.
If you have it working, congratulations! Use it while it lasts, nothing stays forever.

Shortly after Team DRH's last update for their ICS 1.2 I installed it no problem and it ran for a few weeks. Then I left the tablet alone for a week or so and when I turn it on now the wifi is not working, it just says "turning on wifi" but never actually does. I've followed the reflash instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23147934&postcount=4 and I can re-install ICS endlessly. But even after following those instructions, and even after RayWaldos NVFlash for dummies, it still always says "turning on wifi" but doesn't.
When, during the above flashing, I let the stock tapntap boot, wifi works no problem. It's only when i install a ROM that it stops working. I even tried installing Gtabcombover and it gave me the same "turning on wifi" problem.
I did try searrching the forums, but I see no mention of this anywhere.
Thanks.
If I can be more to the point: does anyone know of a way to completely reflash stock everything? I thought I was doing that, but obviously not enough.
Or do I need to crack open my case and push that Dirty Little reset button?

I was able to use the DHR NUFLASH.. It worked real well for me.. download the right file (bootloader 1.1 or 1.2) to your pc, for your g-tab.hook up your USB cable Turn on your tab wile holding your volume (-) key , the logo will come on and then go black. Then go to the nuflash- win file, you downloaded to your pc and run.. The instructions are on the DHR site are vary good I read them a few times before I tried. Its worked great for me.. I'm a noob. Lets just say its just about makes the gtab un-brickable...

Well the good news is that after reading your post I went straight to the DRH website and lo and behold they had just posted Beta 1.3 that morning. I redownloaded their Full Stock CWM 5504 NVFLASh file even though I already had it, and the Beta 1.3.
I flashed the stock file and let it boot just like they said but the setup process began a FC loop and would not complete. I simply rebooted and the setup was able to complete. The I installed the Beta 1.3 with no Gapps and it worked like a charm. Wifi was working and everything, except there was no Market. So I did a wipe/FR and installed again this time with Gapps and everything is back, wifi, market, all good. And I have noticed that it all seems to work a ton faster and smoother.

i has the same problem and make a reinstall with odin, and every thing is working nice although a did some test with a firm of argentina (I9100AROLP4) and this one are perfect.:good:
Just root your device and change your kernel can save your problem.I hope so.
Known problem; http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=28036. Rooting, installing Fardjad's WiFix, setting a country code (GB in my case) and increasing /proc/sys/vm/min_free_kbytes from 3606 to 16384 fixed it for me. None of that should be necessary on the stock firmware of a consumer appliance, though.
EDIT: Actually, if WiFi connects, it might not be this issue after all. It is a problem in many (all?) official ICS 4.0.3, though. If by "internet is still not working" you mean the stock browser force closes before you can do anything with it, you'll need to go into settings->applications->all->[browser name] and clear cache and data. You'll lose your bookmarks, history and cache, so back those up first if you want to keep them.
Hi , I updated to this same build version today (form the first post), and I did notice that the wifi is working, however the download arrow of the wifi icon on the notification bar keeps blinking all the time. Is this normal?

Are you on about the up and down arrows on the Wifi icon? This is normal this just shows the up arrow as uploading and the down arrow as downloading data. All part of the ICS UI.
Piece of advice root your phone install custom kernel and Rom. You will not go back to stock ever again!!!
Thx for the reply. Yes those are the arrows I'm refereing to, but the thing that seems odd is that whenever the wifi is connected the down arrow keeps blinking regardless if I'm using anything (apps or browsing) on the internet or not.
As for the custom roms/root, I will get to those yet.. First I'll try rooting and then I might move to a custom rom. I actually got very used to the stock rom, but I know once I start changing it will be a one way road.. lol

I had a similar problem when I updated to ICS 4.0.3. I did a factory reset on my router which sorted it out.

In my case it doesn't seem to be draining more battery, its just the blinking that I found curious...
Not sure the router has anything to do with it but I will keep this in mind for possible fixes...
thx

Your Wifi always looks for the router hence the down arrow downloading data which is very minimal. Your router gives you an IP address which lets you have internet. Your wifi checks for internet even if you are not using it. This is why its best to turn wifi off if you are not using it as it does drain your battery. Custom kernels have sorted this out when your phone "sleeps" it doesnt wake up even if your wifi is on.
Root first, Backup backup backup second, then install a custom kernel (this is the most important part of the phone) and then a custom rom. Seriously stock hasn't nothing on Mod. Think about it.....
i rooted my hdx7, install safestrap, and flashed this :
thor-gapps-rom-2.zip
it is perfect rom, but every time i power off hdx with wifi off , and after i power on hdx, open wifi , my hdx must reboot ;
(每次wifi关闭时关机,再开机后打开wifi时hdx总会重启)
Can somebody help me? thank you very much .
Can you remember if you had that issue before doing any modification to your device? I am stock without root etc.but I have the same issue. I can't remember though if I had the problem before I installed the Google apps. I think it has something to do with the Google apps

Thank you for your answer,
issue one: i rooted stock rom, installed safestrap, flashed hashcode's stock rom, then rooted again, and changed "310079820" to "310079819" in build.prop, then updated, I think it is stock rom,(but my hdx7 is come from Japanese Amazon). if I power off with wifi off, after reboot, sometimes when i open wifi, my hdx7 will reboot, and after reboot, wifi working normally.
issue two: My question - i have do nothing , after restore stock data, flash "thor-gapps-rom-2.zip", setting up , everything is OK, but each time i power off with wifi off, - open wifi means reboot ,and after reboot , wifi still off. i have to reflash my hdx7. finally , if i use thor-gapps-rom-2.zip, wifi will be opened forever.

Mine does the same after using the same method. Created a new ROm slot, installed "Stock ROM", & GApps, same as OP.
Whenever I turn WiFi on, device reboots. It was fine when I installed it, but after I'd switched the WiFi off to test my 4G connection, it now reboots when I try to turn the WiFi back on. And when it is rebooting it, does the "Kindle is upgrading" thing EVERY time...
It is fine when I go into Recovery, switch to the stock ROM, and use that... But then of course I don't have my GApps...
Although I still seem to have root. Can I install GApps on the stock ROM, I wonder...
Did the new update fix your issues?

So, i have an used xt910 with Carbonrom KK 4.4.4, Safestrap v3.72 and Stock ROM. I have been having problems with the network since two weeks ago. Sometimes it just runs out of network out of the blue (Vodafone), even though my roommate still gets full signal. Sometimes by just restarting it the network would come back. Last saturday i rebooted it but then it would not turn on anymore, entering in a very annoying boot loop. And when i could boot into Recovery, a little surprise: The touchscreen would not work. First i thought it might be a hardware problem, tried dissasembling it and everything but nothing worked. But then out of the blue, around three hours later it started working properly again. Ok so i thought it could be some kind of bug with the rom so i installed CM 11 (the nightly version from the 22.11.). But it was running slowly, compared to Carbonrom. And i did not want to go back to carbon so i installed the Dirty Unicorns rom that i found here. And then today when i started it i saw that i was out of network signal again! So i tried rebooting it but it started with that stupid boot loop. Right now it is working okay, but it is really annoying to always go through this. So i do not think it was a problem with carbonrom (i am newbie with it). Has anyone ever encountered this problem bzw how did you manage to fix it?
Thanks a lot in advance!
