Flash the stock 2.3.4 with root and then flash siyah or entropy's kernel for CWM. There's your spoon feeding for the day

Questions belong in the Q&A forum, not general.
Many of the methods will not work. You can flash a custom kernel which injects root (increments the flash counter.) There is a rooted stock ICS in the original development section (does not increment the flash counter.)
No no no! Creepy, they don't want the EASY way dude. Have u learned nothing? They want to update with kies. So they can make a thread about not being able to update with kies. Then make another about the correct drivers and how kies sucks in general. Then they wanna use that for 2 days , find out how bad it sucks, then try and flash back to something else with Odin. Except they can't get Odin to work. New thread time again! Then once they get that spoon feeding goodness they wanna Odin back to stock and flash a new ROM. Except....wait for it....they're getting status 7 errors cause they're trying to flash a ported i9100 rom! New thread baby!!!

@Phalanx: you missed the part where they use galaxys2root.com and brick their phone, so they create a thread, but since they don't have time to read or search they try to fix the problems by using rom manager, leading to another brick and another thread

You have to understand that these people have learned from hard work and research.. The answers are out there. It doesnt take long to find out. They arent "being dicks". If you think about it, they are helping you because you are obviously are going to have more issues(small or big,still an issue) and if you read these stickies and posts, you wouldnt have any problem fixing them. And that just debloats these threads

No man no I wasn't directing anything at u when I was saying what I said about people not wanting to take the easy way and creating a bunch of threads. I was talking about the loads of people who are already / have done that. Most of us here have inside jokes with one another cause we see each other on here a lot. I would never want anyone to think I don't like them or purposefully hurt someone. Like Nick said u gotta have a thick skin around here, and most of us aren't trying to hurt anyone. Rant coming, so skip over if you want.
It would be one thing if people were like "Do we need a kernel or something to hellraise ICS roms?" but when people like you ask, "HUR DUR DUR I WANT THIS SO DO IT NAUGH" without any respect or donation to the devs that perform these tasks for the community for little or no payment in return.

ICS roms can't be installed on our phones because Hellraising doesn't work on 4.0 roms because it requires a totally different kernel and modem.

I never ran stock KK6 but hear it's worthless. ShoStock uses KK6 and a lot of people are very happy with it. Picking a ROM is very much a trial and error deal. Get a kernel with recovery and do a nandroid back up and try them all and if you don't like them you can easily return where you were. I don't know about your other question sadly. I did the Zedomax root a long time ago and don't remember if I had to do a full wipe. I'd say just bite the bullet and do the wipe. Back up all your info somewhere though.

This is one of the downfalls of Android being mainstream. Too many people doing things they have business doing. I partly blame blogs like Android police and phandroid. They have a habit of promoting rooting with no responsibility of showing them how. They just point everyone to XDA.

Anyway, not gonna go into more detail on how forums are structured and what not, those days are over for me.

from the sound of it its his phone now. Read carefully. Also download samsung kies. Plug phone to computer and check for updates. you should be able to update to ics. Whats worse than spoon feeding personally is someone who goes out their way just to say something that does in no way help the person. If its been stated once by a member there is no need for 10 more people to say the same thing. Just like or thank the first person so the op knows its important info.

had a hearty laugh at some ones.. so thought I should share em with you guys..
Examples:
