I would recommend the stock ICS rom with suave kernel v6(OC) or superstock kernel (non OC).
Also pureness build11 and suave v6 will be a good combination with better battery life.

I think u should just search for a stock based rom, like jj hybrid or any other, just make shure its stripped from usual garbage, flash a kernel with advanced options(suave, alliance, etc...), select an non agressive cpu governor, even downclock it to 800 or so, dim ur screen backlight and u´ll have tons of hours of battery power!http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Am not sure about other kernels working with Darkyrom as i'm using the Super Core kernel that came with the rom which i know doesn't support overclocking.
You'll see when you get you phone that it really doesn't need overclocking as it's lightening fast already

LeoMar's rom for the personalization and mods that are very simple to install with kernel speedmod! GREAT
I can only recommend Villain ROM (very close to stock, works like a charm) and the speed mod kernel. My phone is very fast and the battery consumption is great.

The answer to this one is pretty debative.
IMO you should firstly know that our screen has the touchscreen bug(cpu drain goes to 100% when you touch the screen)..Paulos vtouch kernel solves this problem effectively..When using it cpu drain goes to around 45% which could help you to play hd games such as pes11,nova,assassins creed.etc. which require extensive touchscreen input...and to go with it use ROM's based upon 2.3.3..like openoptimus, gingerlol, aga.etc
However (this is my opinion) the best combo up to date which i have found is using francos kernel 19.4 v18a with phoenix rom(by andy572)..also void forever and mik's cm 6.5.8 are pretty good..
I suggest you try most of the combos and then pick ur favourite choice..
That's the best way to learn!!
P.S. everyone was a noob at one time..so please do ask around.
Also please remember to search before posting as many topics have been covered.
thanks !

No 2.3.3 rom has ever achieved 60+ fps.

Anyone tried this ROM with CM9 Kernel?
Is Night-Elf ICS Kernel the stock kernel + CWM only? Or something else added?
The phone now it's a fully working ICS But all my HD games (Street Fighter 4 HD, Asphalt 6 HD,) results in artifacts while playing. Green colour with broken pixel here and there. And sometimes it kick-out. Anyone experiencing this problem?
does the NightElf kernel has OC enabled or just default clock speeds and governors?

Feeling fustrated about the galaxy ace lag??
Well with these simple steps your phone will be lagless.
I DO NOT TAKE ANY BLAME TO DAMAGING OF DEVICE. TAKE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
FIRST install a lightweight rom such as icecream sunday final or miracle v4.
SECOND install a script. Script i use is slaidfastmod v2. Other scripts work fine too such as zippalingers script or any others. Make sure these scripts improve performance, as it will be listed in the features.
THIRD go to cyanogenmod settings and tap performance. Change the cpu governer to smartass and change minimum frequency to 122 and maximum to 864.
FOURTH reboot and enjoy your fast phone.
If u have any questions just ask.
Hit the thanks button please.

When i change max cpu speed to 864MHz, the phone restarts! I am using Miracle V4 rom. And also overclockin the cpu wont affect battery life?

If it restarts its because is just not stable to your phone.
And yes, overclocking does drain battery life

Thanks man!
I'd rather stick to slow but safe 800MHz. Although I wish more games could be supported on my Ace. Agent Dash is very very laggy.

Messages Not Working
Hi, my Messages is not working - 'could not launch the requested activity' and 'android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly'.
The phone is amazingly fast now, and i would be glad if the messaging issue can be resolved.
I have flashed a few times.
Thank you.
