On gb 2.3.6. No matter how I quit or clear the memory, the apps will automatically start by themselves without me launching the apps.
Some of the apps, I try to back or find the quit button to exit the app, the app is still shown as running behind the scene.
Besides unibstallibg the app, any way to prevent them from running in the background?

On settings there is developer options. Check the kill app back button. Whenever you need to close the apps, long press the back button.

Dude, he's running gb. Also this isn't you're looking for but you can freeze apps with titanium backup. Also with advanced task killer if I remember the name right, you can set autokill for exsample every minute. Also you can update to ics

I have my 1st Android, a sensation XE, I like the way that the pull down menu has recently used apps. I know that you can hold home key down, but that's for active apps.
I haven't used TW before, does it have this?
Nope.
10chars
Thanks, pity I like that function. So its just the quick shortcuts for Wifi, BT, GPS etc? No customisation?
I dnot see an option of specifying app shortcuts in the pull down but when I plugin the earphones it shows apps like YouTube, movie player and music player as suggestions.

Is this an app where you make your settings and it saves it to the system and its permanently there until you change back, or do you have to have the app running for the eq's to function?
I want something I can preset and save, and it applies from there on out, without having to open the app.
thanks

How about a widet that brings up the full volume dialogue (I think SwitchPro widget has that)
Hello. I am using D855 stock Lolllipop ROM.
Every time I “close” an app I will just go to recent task and swipe left or right to remove from memory.
Some apps like stock file manager, I freeze it in TiBackup because I dont need to use it.
My question is, apps like Google Map, Browser etc. I want to close it completely after using it, that means after going into Apps settings I see the Force close button is grey out.
Is there any method to do this?
what is the fastest, easiest way to force stop an app ?? i know settings, apps, find app, but with a bunch of apps its a pita. any other tricks, shortcuts, safe apps, or any other ideas?? not looking at hiding the notification, but stopping the app.
say 2 things, new to oreo and s9, last phone was an s7. anyways, if i had a program running in the notifications, say for my motorcycle gps, tomtom, i was able to long press the notification, then go to app data and force stop. not seeing that anymore.
Trying to find the fastest way to force stop an app running, that has a notification. for example this one says connect device. I am not trying to hide the notification, but force close it when i don't want it running. for example this app gives me live traffic, sometimes i want it, sometimes i don't.
thanks much for the time
settings, developer options, running services
that seems to work too, and the app i want to end is on the first page.
seems easier than the apps, and scrolling down to the Ms
hmm
Greenify, then you can set what you want to force close, and then make a home screen button. Bam it easily blows them away.
Recents, long press the app icon on the left, wait for the i info letter to appear on the right, press i, force stop.
You're welcome

I'm dumb
...
world be nice to find an app that shows ALL opened apps and services and can completely close it in one click.
thank you so much!!!!
I just moved from s7. on s7 android 7 I can long press shortcut on home and can tab on i icon That menu has removed.
The apps you actively use are closed when you swipe them away in recents. You dont need any fancy force closing. Try it. Open recents, swipe away the app, when you open it again it loads from scratch. Or am I missing something?
Smashing the phone on the ground.

That not correct. Some application even you remove it from recent app it still run in background.
In my case Facebook Messenger is often cause media sound issue, after end call sometime media sound route to earpiece. Two way to solve that is kill the app or restart phone.
You can use my apps Killapps and Hibernator
