Like which one?, I am currently on 1.22.651.3 and can't root with that.
Sent from my EVO using xda premium

You can root with 1.22 (h-boot 1.15) with HTC unlock. I'd suggest using regawmod's automated rooter.
If you have hboot 1.15 you HAVE to use the 1.22 RUU. Using a previous RUU will fail.

which hboot version do you have?

I'm on h boot 1.15

Ota ran

How can I verify if Ota was taken. The wife unit told me she thinks she ran it!

Go into your bootloader and see if it is HBoot 1.15.

1.12. Strange as she swears she ran it.
Off the top of my head I can't remember the root method, but it was an all in one that used the HTC unlock. Now the bootloader says tampered. Recovery says development edition. Any way to change these messages?

If she saw something update it was possibly prl/profile. It should ask to run the firmware update and not just do it. Lazypanda soff then regaw's bootloader customizer will let you write whatever you please, as well as remove the red text on the splash screen.

Not yet. They're working on it though.... I think. I'd like to hope someone's still chipping away at getting it solved.
I hope so too. I can still root and unlock right.

From.what I understand this wouldn't work if he has the newest hboot. It won't allow you to ruu backwards or allow ruu when bootloader is unlocked for that matter.

That is correct, but that wasn't what he was asking. He asked if he can still unlock and root. You can unlock, but you can't S-OFF, using HTCdev.com.

S-on flashing with 1.12 h boot

Hey guys I've been having some questions about flashing things like radios and new bases with my s-on 1.12 hboot evo. So I know I can flash radios in recovery but I can't find a link anywhere that just has the radio... Can anyone hook me up with one? Also can I flash the new updated base with no issues? I've seen all these things saying you can't because of the new Kernal but I think that is only for 1.50 h boot... Any clarity would be awesome thanks.

I have the 1.12 HBOOT its best to be S-Off so you can flash the radio but you can probably find the Recovery radio zip in Captain Throwbacks thread

You should flash the full firmware.zip that way you update you radio and PRI at the same time. It doesn't touch your HBOOT

Possibly...check in the mean ROM development thread to see if anyone has reported compatibility issues.

Radios separate from ROMs. You should have no issues with that

Back to stock method?

Is there a back to stock method for the 1.58 hboot for the Htc evo v 4g? Or could I just get away with flashing a stock unrooted rom and the stock recovery? I might have to get a replacement evo v 4g because I'm pretty sure I'm having a hardware malfunction so in which case I'll have to send the current one I have back. So any help would be appreciated.
Edit: Current info

There is no 'official' RUU for 3.16. However, if you are S-off you can run Viperboy's tool in the link below to unroot your phone.
