what happen?

awe man, I couldnt disagree with you more Nils saying "there is no need for me any more" Your Roms are top notch, professional quality and you carry yourself that way too in ypur communications. Ive been using your Roms since to OG incredible and you were one of the reasons I chose to come to the rezound (chad, joel, and newt too). I always knew I could count on your business srnse Roms when I wanted ton run something rock solid.
Anyways, thank you so much for all you have done, you will be missed.
cheers!!

This is a truly a sad day for the Rezound.
I think Nils mistook a lack of downloads for satisfaction with what he has already achieved.
I have been running his Sense 4 v2.6 for several weeks. It's so good as is, but I think many of us were waiting to download his next update.
Nils, If activity has been down, it's only because we love what you've already done, and we're enjoying your Rom as is.
Many want to try AOSP and CM9 and all that, and that needs to be ok. But many of us LOVE Sense, just like you, Nils. And we love what you have brought to the Rezound.
If you need to go, I get it. But please don't think you are unloved here. This place will be lonely without you. Thank you for everything you've done for this community.
Please keep us posted if you have a change of heart, or move on to a different platform. Take care, sir. And thank you again for all you've done.
Scott

Thank you nils for everything you've done for us, your sense 4 is my daily still till AOSP is 100%. Amazing work and was hoping for a global update to it.

Damn, I've been wondering why he hasn't pushed out any updates. I was really looking forward to an update to fulfill my flashing addiction.....
Goodbye for now nils. You were the king of sense 3.6 and well on your way to 4.0 as well. Come back when you get a new phone and let us know what you get. If Apple hasn't put htc out of business by then and you get another, I'll gladly follow you there..... Unless the phone is a downgrade of course.
Take care.

Nils, I been have running your Roms since the incredible days. I remember thinking back then that I like nils business sense 2.1 (froyo 2.1 sense) better than aosp gingerbread. Your business sense 3.6 is my daily right now. Plus, you probably THE friendliest, most helpful dev. Sorry to see ya go man.

AGREED!
I ran both of his ROMS and although I'm not running one of them now, I was EAGERLY awaiting his next release for either one of his versions and would have switched back in a heartbeat. His work is always rock solid and he is one of the most responsive developers out here. Nils, as a regular subscriber I wanted to to say THANKS again for your hard work. Hope to see you soon!

NilsP
I was horrified to read your final posts on both sense 3.6 and sense 4.0 threads.
I understand if you have had a belly full and need to move on, but you need to know you will be missed by your vast group of followers. Your roms have always been polished and way beyond and above anything else I have been able to find for the incredible and the rezound. Hell, you are the main reason my wife and I bought the rebound to be able to run your roms. Last night I reflected on your last posts, and I realized that I check your xda posts at least once a day just to see what's new in the world of Nils' sense roms. Salivating for more.
"Plenty of other roms and devs out there for the rezound". Are you f.....g kidding me. None compare to the polish, wealth of features and rock solid stability of Business Sense. I want my sense. Not cynogenmod or any other mediocre bull. I would rather go stock!
I wish you the best NilsP. You will be missed and you are appreciated.
Please let me know if you get a new phone.

I want to develop for the Thunderbolt

Hey guys, basically I'm here to ask what kinda roms most users of the Thunderbolt like to use. I been playing with an idea to do something for yall. I don't have a Thunderbolt though so it wouldn't be anything sharp like ICS. I would probably want to do something based off of yalls OTA just to sort of get the feel for things first. I've did about 8 roms for the HTC Droid Incredible so I could kinda find my way without to much help I guess.
Anyways, I'm not sure if I will or not. i just wanted to see what yall think first.
I'll put in a poll to help decide.
well the answer to will I work on this device is starting to look pretty much answered, lol. We'll see though.
hell yeah wildstang,
glad to see you over here, loved your roms, as well as jermaines ran em both on my dinc

Thats a good concept. I just wouldn't want to put to much effort into something that I would never get to see or use my self especially if others here don't really want it. But I'm just gonna leave this open for a little while longer. Who knows, maybe I'll get a hundred votes tonight, lol
one thing that absolutely kills a rom for me is if I am unable to change apn settings
this is because I need to change them for mms to work on my carrier (cricket). If I cant change em, i cant use the rom. That is one thing i liked across yours and jermaines roms.
I knew instantly when i got my dinc I was a sense fan (in my opinion its way better than aosp interface) but as sense versions got higher 2.0 2.5. 3.0......... It really slowed my phone down compared to aosp roms...................... and then i found the minimalist roms............. and i was in heaven
so make a minimalist sense rom............... lol
I got rid of my inc before i found your roms but have been loading them on my friends inc, and i can say that they were smooth for me. Wouldn't mind dropping one of yours on my thunderbolt. After you figure your way around maybe a possible sense 3.5 rom! Just saying that'd be great. haha
I really like gingeritis3d by chingy510.. He has slowed down on his development do to school though.
What I like about his rom is that it is 2.1 based. 2.1 roms run alot better on my tb. He has added the 3d carrousel which I think most people look for and he incorporated the sexy smooth rosie that was developed by someone else here on xda.
The rom could benefit with more tweaks options, like 4g toggle and more quick settings. just my 2 cents. Thanks for your interest in deving for the bolt!
I personally use liquid gingerbread, its fast, light, and highly customizable. Please please please stay away from sense 3.5.
I know ill get flamed but please include the music player with beats Some people like that "eq" setting, and if they don't like it they don't have to use it.
Second the above post not a fan of sense 3.5

If he is actually wanting to work on the amaze I'd be glad to donate, mdeejay does great stuff used his stuff on the sensation. This is a dev I would love to get the device to if he is actually wanting to work on the amaze and own a device. Kinda sucks right now to get a device for someone at this moment with newer devices coming out it seems like most devs want to move on to those newer devices. It'd be awesome to have a dev who would actually want to own and use an amaze. Back when I was on the galaxy s2 forum they got Eugene373 a phone and because he was gonna use it as his phone he ended up bringing them so much great roms. To throw a device into a devs hands who is just willing to work on a couple roms for us, is kind of a shakey idea on one side its great and appreciated that they wanna help the amaze community out on the other hand they got lives and their preferred devices so you never know how long they will be willing to help out for.

I would argue the quoted part above - our device still isn't even remotely obsolete. I was at a tmobile yesterday with a guy who works there who owned an amaze previously, but they gave him a htc one.. he isn't impressed. It is slimmer, and it includes beats - but otherwise it is the same phone without being able to access battery or have a microSD.
Sure, the international version is quad-core, but the newest phones in the US haven't made any attempt at pushing hardware specs-- we are still good competition.
There are a ton of devs that are still developing for devices that are definitely inferior to ours spec wise, that alone is a very big factor.. if they use our phone, they will fall in love(or they have bad taste!)

Well I partially agree with you, its not so much that the amaze is a bad device, its not behind the curve nor is it stale, however, the newer devices are easier to dev for from looking at the one s and one x even with no kernel source they are farther along. I love the amaze and I don't see anything compelling enough to upgrade to anytime soon. With that being said the amaze is no walk in the park to dev for, with missing drivers its already a not so easy phone to deal with, I truly hope if mdeejay or any developer that gets our device for that matter likes it the way owners of it do so that they can see a reason to get it beyond just helping us.

The problem with that is that people will then expect the devs to succeed, but if they don't then everyone will be mad and we'll get a ton of flaming threads.
Like earlier this year.
It's best to donate as appreciation for previous work.
I'm not saying that donating for jelly bean is a bad idea, just saying that you shouldn't expect things from devs.

Yea I feel you on that. I'm not talking about paying them to get it finished, but just making a pool to maybe get them all to collaborate and get what they need. Structure would help. You know, reach this goal, you get x amount, next goal, x amount. I know I'm rubbing that magic lamp awful hard. And you know I'm actually very satisfied with the ICS roms we have now, actually more than satisfies, especially coming from tbolt where development has pretty much ceased, and my inc just got retired for the rezound, and they're killing nearly every other section as far as keeping up with o/s. Just want to boost the community support. I'm loving my Rezound and want to see it go as far as Android 10 Pumpkin Pie

Before everyone goes crazy about jelly bean ,you should check it out first. Because I hate to say it but its nothing special. It's more evolutionary than revolutionary. It's what ICS should of bean.

Yes, pun was classic. I've played with jelly bean on my friends nexus, and yes, if google had just held out a little while longer and dropped ics with the mods from jb, it would've been beautiful. I guess they like separating the haves from the "damn, I wish I had"'s. I want the butter, the whole Siri-like search function didn't seem to like to work like I wanted. I guess you have to work for Google in order to keep up with the latest and greatest or just to keep up period. Thankfully we have devs that clean up Google's doo doo.
From me to you with this Snake bitten cellular thing
We don't need to pay them to work on it. They will try it regardless. I'm sure people are still trying to put ics on old ass devices like the og droid. So I don't think we need to worry.

not trying to be no hope person but for jellybean to work on htc rezound newer ril will need to be made for the rom to be stable to work as i see it we need ril for ics right, now we need newer ril for jellybean so in tell can get a office ics we need to just wait

Hell you guys deserve pay just as much as the half asses at HTC and Google. It was y'all that made it possible to play with my Incredible for two days on one charge and a regular battery. And my Thunderbolt sucked til I slapped some aosp love in it. Now my Rezound is running sense 4 like a charm, and Google Now is awesome and unofficial. I think Google should recognize devs, and help them out. But until they do, I'll hand you a few of my few dollars for making my phones exciting.

Notification Dropdown Quick Settings Tab

First I want to thank all the crew working on the Super JELLY ROM. Your attention to detail is making this the best ROM I've ever used and I've used quite a few.
I have a question to throw out to whoever has the answer. One of the things I miss most with my update to Jelly Bean is the Quick settings tab in the notification dropdown window.
Are Quick Settings just gone forever with JB, or will there be a Mod for it someday?
I know Super JELLY has something like it as an option is settings, but I just liked the old school one.
From what I've read, the code that allowed enabling that has been removed by Google/Android.
Edit: wait, maybe HTC removed it. I don't use sense, but on AOSP, I have the same toggles that have existed since froyo (or maybe it was GB, I forgot). Just abandon sense, android is much better on the AOSP side.

Truth...
Look man, the evo is a great phone. However, if you plan on having a broad source for development forget about it. This phone is and has been coming up short with custom offerings. Sorry. Because I once loved this phone, but there is nothing here happening for it.
HTC removed them. Started with our last OTA actually as we saw the ATT OneX have quick settings in their OTA, and then when it came to the EVO getting theirs it was removed... Personally thought that this was a sprint thing since other One series had it but now with the JB OTA rolling to all devices now it shows it was an HTC decision as its now gone from all of them...
Maybe they have something in the works for that area, or there are other plans in place for something else completely new?...

CM10.1, MIUI w/4g, SlimRom Official, JB kernels w/ active governors, updates from DEVS consistently, mostly regarding AOSP roms.. but thats just a few..Sorry if what I wrote as opinion bothered you or anyone else. Simply stating what is true, this device has dated AOSP roms, and I was informing the user. Apologies..However, you wont have to hear my opinions stated anymore, I bought a GS3 to get some solid custom roms. See ya!
CM10.1 is here maybe you should look before posting it doesn't exist......and JB kernels will come once source is out... Which will be pretty soon, so dunno what's the disconnect there...do you not know that to build true custom kernels you need source? sgs3 got JB before the evo so naturally they'll have custom kernels before it too...
Sorry things are not spoon-fed enough over here for you to get everything you want... Like I said before, part of the current problem is attitudes like yours where you will have the nerve to sit back and complain about things but NOT get off their arse and try to help/learn!

As I said before only thing lacking is kernels and that's awaiting on source which will be out anyway now. We got JB after the SGS3 did so its natural to get source after them too...

Every HTC phone I've owned had an aluminum chassis that gave it a bit more heft. They have a very solid and reliable feeling to them. My phones have survived being dropped from all sorts of heights and all types of conditions. My father once dropped his HTC Touch Pro in discarded motor oil and the phone still to this day powers on and works. He has yet to upgrade it because it's only his work phone and he claims it's the most reliable phone he has ever owned.
I've owned the gs3 before I bought this EVO and I have to say. Yes there is more development there, but overall its all the same ****, we have devs working hard for us just like they have devs working hard for them over at the gs3 forums. we have great roms over here for us EVO users. My only real issue is with custom roms (cm based) is my Google nav not working at all but personally its not a big deal, I'm fine with sense, I can get telenav to work there.
I do wish we had miui (which I believe someone is working on, could be mistaken).

So the quick settings are available in Viper4g 3.0.0 I believe they are the only JB Rom that has them thus far.

Is development winding down for our device?

Seems like a big time slow down on developing for this phone.
Is this simply due to the One?
I couldn't imagine dropping another 500 bucks on a phone so far away from my discount time.

Due simply to the One? No. MeanBean has been dead for a while. Viper appears to have been complete since February. CM10.1 is still in the works. Stock is still being worked on. I'm sure the Sense 5 Port and others aren't just being set aside to never be touched again. I could be wrong about that though.

Could be wrong but have to agree, sense 5 may take a little while longer to get rolling, but there other roms that just dropped. Im a big supporter of utkaar99's work here. If you like sense try his HatkaLTE or his Rage ROM. If you like AOSP ,take a look at jaimeg's threads. Still some stuff happening here just a little slow right now. As far as the One, its true we're loosing some folks to that forum, but thats how it works here at xda. I mysrlf was going to get a One or the samsung 4 but decided to hold, mainly just to see how long this forum will last. Hope its like the Heroc was, even in low activity it still pushed on. Same with the Evo4G, still hangin in there 3D is the same, still going strong. We may pick up some of theirs in the future hopefully. Just gotta hang tough.

It isn't like the days of the original evo. I always had a new Rom to play with and so I wait patiently 4 the next big rom release. I refuse to use a Rom that doesn't have full functionalities. I need my phone to just work so I am staying on mean bean until something worthy replaces it. I do love viper Rom as well.

I know viper is working on something that will allow mods and roms for the one on other carriers to work on the Sprint variant and vice versa. One development is about to explode. That said we still have some quality roms here in lte land. If you have the time, you can learn to develop and theme.

Good post man.... I would hate to see all development stop for this phone but it won't, it will slow down though.. I think everyone was so used to getting different roms and constant updates to feed the addiction... What they have done is awesome and the part about the roms being complete is true, I can't think of much that can be done with viper, been using it for a while and it's bad ass.. Just debating the One, not sure if I want to jump ship yet, it's fast and smooth, but it's not much better than this in my opinion.

Don't forget to hit the thanks button. When this phone came out there were still a lot of developers working on EVO 3D ROM's.

My husband just got the One (his upgrade from the EVO4G). The only features it has that I wish my 4GLTE had are the dual front speakers (the sound is beautiful!), the IR blaster (maybe not super useful, but can be used for triggering our DSLR), and the international SIM card slot.
The aluminum skin is also beautiful, but it's not going to tempt me to upgrade. It also doesn't have an SD slot, so it wouldn't hold all my MP3s.
I hope development doesn't die on this device. I plan on keeping it for quite a while longer.

I'd like to keep it for the 2 years like the ogevo. But I don't know if it will make it.

I keep wondering the same thing. Got another year to go before my upgrade, and definitely can't afford the one straight up. Was hoping when our sense5 update drops sometime this summer (hopefully) that the current favs like mean, viper, and superjelly would be brought up to date with it, but it doesn't seem that'll happen since those devs have moved on to the one or left HTC all together. Not saying new stuff won't drop then, but for now anything sense will be slow.

Actually, it DOES seem like that WILL happen. As I've said earlier that some of the progress on those ROM's have been completed. There's simply no more to do with them which is why there is no update. Just like the OTA from HTC even though they could be doing more.
I think in this new world of quickly progressing smartphones there are a couple of options for xda'ers. One, upgrade yearly to stay with the new device that gets all the attention.
The second option is the progression that this site fosters. Users learn and build their abilities to create by themselves. Many of the past leaders of EvoLTE have left a legacy of development here that can be built upon. Fortunately, the vast majority of the devs around here will gladly allow another person to take over the reigns and continue a build- or even make it thier own creation.
The site was named xdadevelopers. The purpose for the site is to allow users to learn to be developers. All the tools are here.

Something else to consider is that Android 5 (Key Lime) is on the horizon and may be announced at Google I/O in a couple of weeks. A major OS rev often stokes new inspiration for devs and hopefully we'll see ports of Key Lime ROMS to the EVO LTE (e.g. CM, Key Lime based Sense, etc.).
It ain't dead.
Just have to know where to look is all.. not all ROMs get posted on XDA
I'd much rather have more kernel development than rom personally. I'm learning more and more each day the true capability of the hardware and which software elements dampen it's potential. We have a huge hd screen and dual core I could really care less about the One and sense 5. Like someone else said it can't do much more than viper. I'm testing the AOSP waters for now and loving Slim Bean currently.

Just look in the development threads. There are still a lot of really great roms still being worked on.
Yes a few have left but many still have this phone and many more will probably pick it up second hand or now that it's becoming really cheap on sprint.
For ask those worried why don't you go and read a few how-tos and start doing your own thing.
I really hate these threads. They always happen and never produce something good. Just lame really.
