I was wondering what the proper procedure for flashing a kernel is, as I want to upgrade to the latest Devil. I'm not messing with the ROM, just the kernel but I want to make sure I won't screw anything up.
Just follow section 8 of droidstyles guide.

Okay guys, I'm in real need of your help here, whether it's a proper answer or some sarcastic link to the correct thread.
I've been testing out roms all over, and different kernels, but now I want to revert back to stock so I can start afresh. Ideally I just want the stock rom. I'm happy running an unsigned (rooted) kernal, but I do want the stock rom.
I'm in the UK, and my phone wasn't branded with any carrier.
Someone, help!

1: get odin
2: get stock rom
3: flash using download mode.
Hi.
I have Odin, and have used it.
I have used download mode to install a rom.
What I can't find is a stock rom.
I'm trying to get back a locked and unrooted Atrix 4G phone.
Its been a while since I messed around with it so I forgot the necessary tools to do so.
I'm guessing I would need to RSD flash it to a specific stock build?
Can someone please give me a step by step with the required ROM files/software files. Much appreciated.
I'm running 2.3.4 rooted and unlocked bootloader.
I was like you and I have to say with the confusion of bricking my phone (which I did once) I found great answers here but I have to say I highly recommend the Nottachtrix Rom. Its simple and it has the new 2.3.6 update. I have used so far 4 roms and this one is no question my fav. ... he pretty well explains things.
He also keep things updated as well. Hes also the maker of the wetdream rom. So check out that thread in the rom section. So you can get the info on this new one. Again like I said everything you need to know is there and even a cave man can do it.
Start with N00B guide.
You folks need to learn to look for things yourself!
1-SBF to stock base. Root your phone, unlock bootloader, install custom recovery and perform a nandroid backup of your stock rom!

So my question is all based on this, and after a lot of reading I found both answers but both were old so not sure which one to trust.
I am currently rooted, unlocked, running joker's CWM & Joker's CM10, and have a nandroid backup from back when I was running stock.
Is step one really to roll back to stock base, re-root my phone, re-unlock my bootloader, and make a new nandroid backup? Or are these instructions assuming we are not already rooted/unlocked?
Can I skip step one and just flash the new radio and then Joker's GSM CM10?
(Long time lurker, first time poster, 9 different phones hacked to bits and this is my first question ever, if this has been asked before no combination of GSM/Stock/SBF found it.)

expertglossary.com/android/definitions/R (Banned from posting outside links.. Jebus it is hard being new, and all I could think lurking was I wish they had a method of making people talk *less*)
This might help a bit, ask if you want anything clarified. Their ROMS definition is a little not perfect, A Rom as it is normally used here is a zip file containing all the bits that makes an android install, A custom rom is a bundle of the kernel and android version, tweaks, themes, fixes, modifications, basically everything you use on a system as tailored by the ROM builders.

I was thinking more about " a guide to noobs" here in xdadevelopers forum ?
Where can I find it?
Definitely here is the best we have forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1393519 then you follow all the myriad links based on what you are trying to do.
Not being sure what your goal is it is hard to be more specific.
Anyone have an answer for my earlier question though? My sim card arrives tomorrow.
I just want to be extra sure before I proceed to follow the guides on here. My note 2 is running Beans 18. Baseband version: VRAMC3, 4.1.2. With stock Kernel.
What steps do I need to go through to get to stock? And before linking just a thread. If you could provide mini steps, I'd appreciate it.
Actually, I'll just figure it out and stop asking noob questions. I am better than that.
I'm sure this has been asked but I just wanted to verify I had my information correct, I have rooted and put custom roms on a gs3 in the past so I have little experience but don't want to brick my gs4 and it seems it may be a slightly difference process.
Essentially I want to get CM10 on my Verizon GS4
I found these root directions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290798
They seem pretty straight forward. I would assume I follow these directions and install TWRP or clockwork mod after its rooted then just flash my roms, however I saw something about Loki on another thread and getting around the bootloader. Do I have to do anything special involving that or once I am rooted can I just install the custom recovery from the app store and start installing roms...
Also how do I check if I have the update that just came out that prevents flashing roms.
Sorry if this was asked but I didn't see my specific question anywhere and I would really appreciate the help.
Also would you recommend going with the google edition or CM10?

Im fairly certain TWRP is pre-loki'd now, so you wont have to worry about it.
In about phone, look under baseband version, If it doesn't say i545VRUAMDK then you have the new update that isnt rootable yet.
And for your last question, i havent tried either of them yet (I'm on hyperdrive).
