I know that while the illumination bar is an attractive feature of these handsets at times it can get annoying, for example late at night in a dim room when you try to use your cell only to find yourself getting blinded by a sudden bright light … So I thought I'd take the time to point out a handy application I've come across..
Simply install the screen filter app from the play store. Once that's done open the app and move the slider all the way to the right & untick the "Enable soft-key backlight" checkbox … click the "Enable Screen Filter" button at the top & voilà no more illumination tanning your eyes
The app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.haxor
NB: If you open the app from the app drawer you may have to ta the notification to access the menu
p.s. XPU users not that the illumination bar will still activated in the Galary app (when viewing photos) & in the music app as is standard..
Kind Regards..

Are there any apps out there that provide a brightness slider as a widget. For example a 4x1 widget that allows for quick adjustments as opposed to the 3 click button or the slider shortcut method.
Is this even possible?
Just thought I would ask, as this would be useful to many I imagine.
Thanks in advance for any answers.

I don't know think it would be possible in a horizontal form, I think any horizontal swipe would only work as a homescreen swipe. I like using the brightness button on the Extended Controls widget. One tap brings up the slider (with an auto brightness toggle if you want) and once you take your finger off the slider it closes. I know you mentioned slider shortcuts, but this is the quickest form of adjustment I've seen in a widget, short of the touchwiz notification bar.
I recommend Brightness Level by CurveFish. It's not quite what you're looking for, but I honestly don't think you'll find what you're looking for unless there's a special widget for a home alternative like ADW or LP. Brightness Level is similar to the one mentioned above, in that fact you can tap it once and it goes away the second you're done sliding it. But what I like is that it has preset buttons too. It also helped me figure out that the system settings don't go below 8%. This widget will actually take you down to 0% (still brighter than I'd like, so sometimes I use Screen Filter too). It's only a 1 x 1, which in my opinion makes it better. Just something to try.

Try Extended Controls from the market. I user the brightness control daily. The slider comes up when you press the brightness widget. Plus there are so many other options action the app.

Definitely try Brightness Profiles by Craig G in the Market, its awesome and I keep it on my home page

notification bar
hmmm I'm assuming you're talking about adjusting the brightness of the phone whenever so..
Did you know you can just change the brightness of the screen by gliding your finger across the notification bar left and right?
You have to turn off the auto-savings and auto brightness in the settings first though,
but after that just glide over the notifications bar and you're good to go!
Most amazing trick needs no widget.
All good options, thanks for the input. As far as the notification bar
Sliding, I can not get this to work. I am using adw launcher, not sure if perhaps this is a stock launcher option only.

If your phone currently had auto brightness enabled I don't think you can use the notification slider. It takes practice with some ROMs, but I'm sure you'll figure it out.
On the froyo builds you have to hold your finger on the notification bar until it goes back up a second later, (dont let go!) THEN after that you can slide left and right to control brightness.

Did you actually try it? There is even another app - notification toggle. But the problem is, that this works just when the OS support it and unfortunately official Dell rom doesn't
I tried Status Bar Settings by Karson. It doesn't work (did not register clicks in notify bar). Even on the market page, the dev recommends Widgetsoid! lol
Widgetsoid has the same problem, it just launches a little app instead of each button being an individual toggle. Not quite CM6+ (from the Notification Toggle market page: "you will get a popup to select the toggle feature if your device doesn't support multiple notification clicks")
Maybe we can petition a dev 'round here to figure out how to shoe horn in "multiple notification clicks".
...and for the record, I have been using Quick Settings on my Streak for quick access to power widgets from the notify tray.

an app wont' bring this functionality.. you need to take apart cm7 or twlauncher to inject the hotbuttons. It is somethign I have looked into a few times without success..
there are dozens of apps that put the buttons in and just open a lame widget....
i have resorted to the wireless settings info popup menu hidden in settings to quickly enable and disable the wireless radios.
The wireless activity Krad mentions is covered here at StreakSmart. I have it as one of the gesture actions on the LauncherPro dock.
You can put one tap toggles in the notification tray but each toggle takes up a line in the tray. Notification Toggle can do this. The status bar switches by friedflow also work well.

Hey there guys,
since the S3 cannot be completely muted with the button present in notification bar (media volume is not affected), im using an app that does this.
I'd like to replace the original button in the notification bar with that app, or add a shortcut to that app in the PowerMenu.
(The app just needs a tap on its icon and everything is muted; tap again and volume levels are in the state they were before the first tap)
Can somebody tell me how to do this? I saw an HowTo on how to add "reboot" to the PowerMenu, but frankly i was quite overwhelmed .....
Bumpidibump
A shortcut to the app in the notification bar or the power menu isn't possible yet as far as I know.
Other options are on a homescreen or the lockscreen.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
ye already got it in the lock-screen via widgetLocker...
it seems to be possible though; the "tutorial" for that is just not quite noobfriendly^^ and furthermore only discusses a reboot option....
(maybe because nothing else is possible though)

please help me if somebody know how remove it
As of 4.1 (or earlier), you can disable notifications per app in the settings. Go into settings, then application manager, and find your app. Click on it, and at the top, just under Force Close, is a check box where can enable or disable notifications.

Hi everyone,
I came across this new app showcased by YouTuber, Mrwhosetheboss in his recent video called Power Shade and oh boy has it revamped my whole notification shade!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3zyFC0pc9I&t=3s
I figured you guys would love it too and decided to share.
Link to App: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/treydev-inc/
I don't know why it's not on the Play Store, I emailed the developer complimenting and asking why it's not on the Play Store, will post back here when I get a response.
I came across this Google Sans font in the app itself and it looks amazing on my notification shade, would anyone know how to get the Google Sans font for my whole device?
Thanks a ton in advance!
Power Shade is truly AMAZING app for Android (No Root Needed)
https://youtu.be/uhIRuamiKoo
Powershade is Amazing! Funny how you got Android Sans also. We think alike. I emailed the dev also as it was in the Play Store and has only just recently been removed..no response though. The issue is however that a lot of the quick setting toggles you will notice dont work or take you straight to settings, eg Hotspot and the accessory permission will revert from time to time. Apart from that it gives the mate 20 pro a beautiful refresh from that horrid emui
Is it normal that i have both the power shade notification shade and the standard emui? depends on where i slide down from
That’s usually an indication to me that the accessibility service has been disabled. It frequently disables for some reason, I sorta fixed that by turning offf all the battery optimisation etc for the app. Both ways through battery settings and special app permissions OTE=TeeKay35;78482099]Is it normal that i have both the power shade notification shade and the standard emui? depends on where i slide down from[/QUOTE]
I just found it on the play store again
Once I give the app Accessibility permissions, I get an "1" as in an "unread notification" permanently stuck in my status bar. If I revoke the permission the notification goes away, but the app doesn't work any longer.
Does anyone know how to make that "1" go away ?
I tried this app but ended up uninstalling it. It's an interesting idea but I noticed that it negatively impacted the performance of my phone. Scrolling within several apps (including Google Play) was less smooth when this app was running as an accessibility service and returned to normal after this app was no longer running.
I also didn't like that it created an overlay not just over the notification shade but also over the system tray. I think the default Huawei system tray with dark theme enabled looks way better than the one this app creates.
I use the 4 button navigation tray option (the 4th button pulls down notifications as an alternative to swiping from the top of the screen) + the built in option to hide the display notch.
Using these options the notification pull down was smooth from the top of the screen but when using the navigation button instead there was a flash of white on either side of the notch every time notifications were pulled down.
Problem with this app was i started getting poor battery life out of my phone since the installation of this app. Avoid it
I have no battery problems with this app.
my phone it´s normal since i installed this app.
When making an app a device administrator there is often a performance hit or other problems like battery drain. I definitely noticed a performance hit while running this app but the results might be better for some people than I had. As a rule of thumb you want to give as few apps as possible device administrator priveledges.
Installed it, give all permission, untick from 'Launch' in Battery settings, all works flawlessly. No battery drop because of using it, no performance drop & power shade all the time when i slide down (no more emui stock notification). This is by far the most theme changing using the restricted Emui 9. Good!
Any trouble with it causing problems with screenshot features, mine freezes on knuckle gesture and goes to screen recording from the drop quick panel.

Where is the option for auto brightness?
Hello guys, thanks for sharing power shade with us!
I've got a problem with the toggles, I press on the data one to switch it on but it doesn't switch it on and I have to press and hold to activate it manually.
Anyone experiencing that?
Nice app - I used to use Material Notification Shade back in the day when I was on a Nougat ROM on my S7 Edge, it wasn't compatible with Android O though, but now I can resume using it on Android P
The dev says he's going to try to get it back on the Play Store soon so that the pro features can be unlocked.
It would be great if he can fix the screenshot issues when selecting from the drop down quick panel. It just keeps going to record screen instead, but actually freezes up. I've sent numerous emails highlighting the error.

I know but that doesn't always work especially when there are screens that if you tap once they open a link like the Google feed cards.
