First you should go to the correct forum here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1301 and check out the general section and other sections. There are some post about straightalk in there.

So I finally found out that the Galaxy Vibrant 4G from T-Mobile now has an official update for Gingerbread. So since my mobile has been on Bionix Frost Custom ROM for long enough, I think I'll just update the phone. I'm aware that I'll loose the "root" feature, but my query is will I loose my network unlock? Also, will the contacts on the phone memory be wiped off too?
This is the first time I'm updating the phone. Since it was rooted before, should I bear some precaution before updating or is there a specific manner in which I should update?
Brick! Don't do it its not for 3G version I can guarantee u a brick

If you have a Samsung Vibrant (T959) and you try to flash a Galaxy S 4G ROM other than Bionix Frost that is posted in THIS dev section, you'll brick your phone.
Check out our section for Gingerbread ROMs.
It says SGH-T959V as the model number and box confirms it's a 4G Vibrant (the one with Inception pre-loaded on it). I was actually planning to get the firmware updated via Kies, which is official update procedure, I presume. Are there still chances of bricking it?

The Galaxy S 4G is the phone that got Inception loaded on it. We got Avatar. Go here.
Cheers guys! Apologies for posting in the wrong section. I assumed this section would cater to both the models.

Is the modding for the Samsung Galaxy S II D710 [Sprint Version] Just as good as the modding for the Samsung Galaxy S II GT-19100 [Unlocked] version?
I am looking to switch from AT&T Dell Streak to Sprint Samsung Galaxy S II D710 [Sprint Version]. Finanical Reasons.
Best,
needspractice
PS.
I have my streak moded perfectly and was just wondering if you could mod up the D710 just like you could mod the Streak or the GT-19100?
Nope totally different phones if you flash anything made for the i9100 you will destroy your spring galaxy s2

Not sure that was his question... Sounds like he was just asking about modding.
OP, there is modding for the SPH-D710, yes. But sm625614 brings a VERY valid and important point. The SPH-D710 has different hardware, so do NOT flash any i9100 firmwares or kernels to it.
SPH-D710 also has a separate forum here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1281
Aw. Thank you very much. What is the difference between the two though? I mean am I going to be depressed because I have the Sprint version or is there a huge support moding group out there for the D710?

Besides the different cellular technology? (GSM vs. CDMA)
Why don't you check out the D710 forum I linked you to, and find out? I don't know the answer, as I'm an i9100 user, not a d710 user. Sorry.
Basically all I want to do on the Sprint network is tether with a mobile hotspot up to 8 devices for free. Install non market apps like the Amazon App Store. And Root my phone. Is this all pretty easy and possible with the D710 that you get from the Sprint Store?
And if I went there today? Would I get the newest version with the newest parts like the silver headphone jack and what not?
Also do you think its a big deal to give up my unlimited data plan on AT&T? Or if you pay the extra 10 dollars with Sprint is that basically unlimited data?
I would change out the roms but that is not entirely to important to me but I would like the option to.

I see you already posted this EXACT SAME question in the thread you posted in the Epic 4g Touch forum... So why are you still posting Sprint questions in a forum for a phone that doesn't work on Sprint, and also disregarding the forum rule (http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=263 - scroll down a bit) that says to only post once?
When you root it or flash a new ROM does it give you portable wireless hot spot?

That explains it. This guy needs to learn some forum etiquette. He doesn't even seem to be looking at the responses to most of his spam posts either. Just taking the shotgun approach.
O can you get wireless hot spot?

Hello,
I was doing some research and I could not find a definite answer so I am asking the community that would know best. I just recently picked up a Canadian Rogers Note and I was curious if I could use the AT&T roms on it? Obviously I would not use the american modems or radios, but by using the American rom would it brick or cause issues once I booted it up?
Thank you for your time
you can use any rom on this thread...you can try jelly bean or ics...just make backup before

Why can't you use ATT radios? You sure as heck can. You can install the complete package if you want.
So, am raising call again to XDA~Community to rename forums to
AT&T Rogers Bell Telus Samsung Galaxy Note I717.
Just like S3 forums.

has anyone looked at what? running an i9100 on AT&T network? sure....just pop a sim in and go
if you are referring to running i9100 firmware on the i777, have you even bothered to WONDER why there is a PORTED DEVELOPMENT SECTION? ever thought to look for yourself?
And sir, here's your cat.
Ok SO I could not find a proper thread for this since there are SO many threads. The issue I'm having is I got a Samsung galaxy S III that was unlocked, and after I put my ATT sim into it I could recieve texts and calls but I could not recieve data. So I rooted it and applied clockwork with all my mods and figured I could find some setting that would fix it... well I was wrong. I tried global, GSM and LTE settings none of which would give me data. If there is anything anyone can do to help I would be more than appreciative.

Report the thread and a request a mod to move it to the Q&A section of the AT&T Galaxy S3 forum. This is the International S3 forum. Any suggestions you take from here are liable to brick your phone.
Replying from phone, so, cannot link to the right forum.

Sometimes when I flash stock 4.1.2 (ELKC) I lose data. I simply get sent APN settings by carrier to fix issue. T-Mobile UK.
Tryin Google I found this: http://galaxys3root.com/att-galaxy-s3/att-galaxy-s3-sgh-i717-apn-and-4g-lte-pta-settings/

Because you have the Version model it may be that it is incompatible with the AT&T data network, the US variants are designed to work on a specific network and can have major incompatibilities with other networks.
But check your apns just in case.
